Anything Less than All-Out War on Islamist Extremists is Not Enough

So many lies and half-truths circulate that it’s hard to distinguish between fact and fiction.  ISIS is different.  Its acts of violence come with videos and pictures proving their inhumanity beyond any doubt.  (For example, see Steve Robson’s “Children of the Caliphate: Junior jihadis play with severed heads and enjoy crucifixions”.)

Nazis tried to hide their butchery because they feared the consequences.  Not ISIS.  They love to flaunt their viciousness, and they don’t care what infidels think.  They wear the blood of their victims, display severed heads, and eat the internal organs of their prey as badges of honor.  They believe that slaughtering infidels is the greatest gift that they can give to their god.

ISIS has been amazingly successful recruiting followers, especially in Europe.  That should open our eyes to the results of welfare madness.  Europeans have raised a bumper crop of jihadists and paid for their training with tax revenue.  We have done the same thing in the U.S.

If anything, ISIS’ brutality has been understated because a large number of people in the world today (particularly people in Europe and the U.S.) still live in la la land where words like “Islamophobe” are in vogue.  But that’s changing.

A few weeks ago, anyone who dared to call Islamism what it is was regarded as a modern-day Neanderthal.  Not anymore.  Thanks to ISIS, even leftist policitians like Senator Dianne Feinstein (D, CA) are demanding that President Obama do more than just deliver speeches.  With his back against the wall, the president may finally do what he should have done years ago.

When Obama visited Cairo in 2009 to launch his apology tour, the Islamist threat was already a clear and present danger to the world.  Thanks to his ineptness, the threat metastasized into full-blown wars throughout North Africa and the Middle East.  It claimed the lives of Ambassador Chris Stevens and other Americans in Tunisia.

While the president was making up stories blaming an obscure filmmaker for the Benghazi attack, Islamists took advantage of that diversion to organize and recruit fighters for campaigns in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and Jordan as hors d’oeuvres.  The well publicized beheadings of journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff camouflage the fact that untold numbers of Christians and other non-Islamists throughout the region are still being mercilessly butchered at this very moment.

Obama’s 2009 Cairo excursion also led to the overthrow of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and the rise to power of Obama’s Muslim brother Mohamed Morsi.  Eventually, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi was able to untangle the mess that Obama left behind, much to his chagrin.  Yet despite his failures, Obama did everything that he could to reinstate Morsi eventually causing a rift between Egypt and the U.S. that has not been mended.  In fact, Obama’s meddling drove Egypt toward Russia and altered the balance of power in the Middle East.

Hamas is the ISIS front group in Israel.  They are identical in every respect except one: Hamas wears green headbands and ISIS wears black headbands.  There is only a slight difference between Hamas and Fatah, and Obama continues to shove Fatah leader and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas down the throats of the Israeli people.  Given what he knows or should know, that’s criminal.

Operation Protective Edge was Israel’s response to the Islamist threat that it faces.  Before the operation ended, Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry were already talking about another “peace initiative”.  It makes me wonder if they have any idea what they are up against and how much damage they have done.

Israel is the West’s frontline against Islamist extremism.  The Israeli people have learned to survive and flourish in the swamp that radical Islam is while Obama and his comrades have imported as many swamp rats into the United States as they could.  As a result, our political leaders have created a ticking time bomb.  It’s just a matter of time before it explodes in another 9/11-style attack on U.S. soil.

I’m not saying that it might happen.  I’m saying that it is going to happen, so the sooner we place this country on a war footing the better.

That’s why Americans and people all over the world are waiting with bated breath to hear what Obama has to say about how he plans to deal with the problem.  If it is anything less than an all-out war on Islamist extremists, it is not enough.  At this point, I don’t think that Obama has the courage, the will, or the intelligence to do what has to be done.

Despite all the evidence to the contrary, the president has spent the last 6 years telling us that Islamists are good people, that they are part of our community, and that they can be trusted.  For him, doing an about face is not realistic.  I don’t expect him to say, in essence, “My bad.”  Instead, I expect him to continue playing footsie with the problem and ignore the very real threat that Islamists pose to us all inside this country’s borders.

Our jihadist enemies have made their intentions crystal clear.  They want to kill us and create a caliphate under Sharia law.  I’m not guessing.  That’s what they say.  They have left no room for doubt or for a choice on our part.  Pretending that they have isn’t just naïve; it’s stupid and suicidal.

Denis MacEoin: Will Fact Ever Displace Anti-Israel Fiction?— Just now I’m feeling a bit ashamed of being Irish. Although our music, dance, and Nobel-prize winning literature have helped us punch above our weight in the ring of international culture, our politics has never been a model for anyone — and it is getting worse. Back in 2011, for instance, Israel’s Foreign Ministry stated that Ireland had undoubtedly become the most hostile country to Israel in the European Union, “pushing all of Europe’s countries to a radical and uncompromising approach.” Oddly enough, Ireland also has a reputation as a country relatively free from anti-Semitism. According to John Gallen, anti-Jewish incidents are thirty-two times more likely in the U.S. than in the Poblacht na hÉireann. One of the reasons there are almost no anti-Semitic incidents in Ireland is that there are very few Jews in the Irish Republic in the first place: under 2000 (0.04% of the population).

David Chazan: Brussels museum shooting suspect ‘beheaded baby’—A freed French hostage held with David Haines has said one of his kidnappers took a perverse pleasure in torturing Syrian prisoners, and had boasted of how he had raped and killed a young mother before beheading her baby. Nicolas Hénin, a journalist, identified one of his kidnappers as Mehdi Nemmouche, 29, the French jihadist awaiting trial in Brussels for shooting dead four people at the city’s Jewish Museum after returning to Europe. He gave details of torture inflicted on prisoners by Isil militants holding the British aid worker David Haines.

Elliott Abrams: Israel and the Arab World: Alliances of Convenience in a Long War— “The status quo is unsustainable,” President Obama said of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict soon after taking office in 2009. “The status quo is unsustainable,” then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told AIPAC in March 2010. “The status quo is unsustainable and unacceptable,” United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon averred in 2013. This year, Secretary of State John Kerry, with his customary light touch, informed the Munich Security Conference: “Today’s status quo absolutely, to a certainty, I promise you 100-percent, cannot be maintained. It’s not sustainable.” What is usually meant by this assertion is something quite specific: that in the “occupied territories” of Gaza and the West Bank, a Palestinian state must very soon be erected—or else. “It is critical for us to advance a two-state solution where Israelis and Palestinians can live side-by-side in their own states in peace and security,” Obama added in that 2009 statement. He has repeated the line endlessly, and so has every world leader except for Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei (who has a rather different objective in mind).

Yasmine Bahrani: Where Are the Marches Against the Islamic State?—This summer, many Muslims marched in the streets of London, Paris and other cities to condemn the deaths of Gazans. But, inexplicably, there have been no similarly large-scale demonstrations against the Islamic State for its horrific acts against Christians, Yazidis and even its fellow Muslims in Iraq and Syria. And there certainly haven’t been any marches protesting the beheading of innocents. Why is it so hard to take a stand against the killing of women and children? We need the world to see anti-Islamic State marchers taking to the streets with the passion that we saw at the Gaza rallies in London and Paris. Today, say the word “Islam” and few think of the glories of our history and culture. Rather, they picture masked men with knives. As long as our condemnations remain tepid, we give the impression that we accept the crimes of murderers whose savvy YouTube productions reach far and wide. Groups of people are car-bombing, shooting, starving, kidnapping and beheading people in the name of Islam – not to mention blowing up churches and mosques. Where is the anger? Is it possible that Muslims hate Israel more than we hate criminal gangs who have hijacked the narrative of our religion?

Roya Hakakian: Smelly Little Orthodoxies of Iran’s Left— On a pleasant afternoon in early September of 1987, I was among a group of Iranians gathered under the overpass on the southeast corner of 42nd Street and First Avenue in New York City to protest President Ali Khamenei’s visit to the United Nations for the annual meeting of the General Assembly. Those were the good old days when the opposition spoke out, when their fury with the regime surpassed self-pity, nostalgia, and empty patriotism. Back then I was a welcome anomaly in the midst of activists whose politics ranged from moderate socialism to radical Maoism. I was the youngest and a new arrival in their group, most of whom had come to America as students in the mid-1970s. To their botched hope of a revolution, I had been a witness, a promising poet to serenade the lost cause. That I was a Jew went unmentioned. We were above such banalities. We were revolutionaries.

Geert Wilders: “War Has Been Declared against Us”— Madam Speaker, actually I was expecting flowers from you. I am celebrating an anniversary these days. Exactly ten years and two days ago, I left a party whose name I cannot immediately remember. During these ten years and two days. I have been much criticized. Most importantly for always saying the same thing. My critics are right. Indeed, my message had been the same during all these years. And today, I will repeat the same message about Islam again. For the umpteenth time. As I have been doing for ten years and two days. I have been vilified for my film Fitna. And not just vilified, but even prosecuted. Madam Speaker, while not so many years ago, everyone refused to broadcast my film Fitna, we can today watch Fitna 2, 3, 4 and 5 daily on our television screens. It is not a clash of civilizations that is going on, but a clash between barbarism and civilization.

AP: Israel Gears Up for War Crimes Battle— A jittery Israeli military is gearing up for what could become its next big battle: dealing with U.N. investigations that could result in war-crimes allegations. The army has beefed up its legal staff, is conducting internal investigations of its wartime actions and has prepared a detailed PR campaign of satellite photos and video clips— hoping to persuade the world that its war against Hamas was justified. “We take our business seriously, and as such we operate within the rules and regulations under the laws of war,” said Lt. Col. Peter Lerner, a military spokesman.

Claudia Rosett: The UN: Clueless or Complicit in Gaza?—If UNRWA officials knew that Hamas was building terror tunnels, but raised no public alarm, then that should be grounds for a major inquiry into UNRWA complicity with terrorists. There’s also the question of whether UNRWA employs or directly supports members of Hamas. If so, that should block the agency from receiving money from the U.S. The U.S. Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 forbids funding to UNRWA unless it takes “all possible measures” to ensure that no U.S. assistance goes to any refugee who has received “military training” as a member of the Palestine Liberation Army, or any other “guerrilla-type organization,” or who has “engaged in any act of terrorism.” UNRWA promised to check its staff against specific UN sanctions lists. But those lists are not that relevant to Gaza: They cover al-Qaeda and the Taliban (there is no UN sanctions list for Hamas).

Peter Cai: How Israel Is Winning the Social Media War in China—Israelis are pouring resources into winning the war of opinion in China. Michael Anti, a prominent Chinese blogger, looks at this issue in Caixin, a respected business magazine. He observes that Taiwanese social media users are generally supportive of the Palestinian cause while many mainland Chinese are rooting for the State of Israel. It is an interesting reversal of their countries’ official positions, Taipei is generally considered to be pro-Israel and Beijing pro-Palestinian.

Burak Bekdil: Forty-Four Million Zionists in Turkey!— Nearly three years ago, the Israeli news site Ynetnews.com published an opinion piece written by a Turkish-Jewish girl. She wrote: “…I have never had the need to discuss my Jewish identity, let alone my Israeli identity… We are a Jewish family with a connection to Israel, and as fit for a Turkish family we enjoy… freedom of religious rituals and worship. Holidays and vacations, Jewish schools, synagogues, and Jewish after-school clubs, all out in the open, and with no reason to fear… (Nov. 17, 2011)” Just when I suspected that the author must be describing a Turkey other than the one I lived in, her final line confirmed that it was the same Turkey: “Despite my love for Turkey, I have chosen to remain anonymous, in case, well, you know…” Well, I knew… Last month, Georgia and Jak Karako, a prominent, affluent Jewish couple, were found stabbed to death in their apartment in Istanbul’s upscale Ortakoy neighbourhood, amid President-elect Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s thundering speeches that, “Israel was worse than Hitler,” and regular attacks on Israel’s diplomatic missions in Ankara and Istanbul, including rocks thrown at — and hundreds of angry Turks trying to break into — the diplomatic compounds. The mayor of Ankara, Melih Gokcek, was quoted as saying: “We will conquer the consulate of the despicable murderers.”

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Genesis 29: 1-3

1 Then Jacob went on his journey, and came to the land of the sons of the east. 2 He looked, and saw a well in the field, and behold, three flocks of sheep were lying there beside it, for from that well they watered the flocks. Now the stone on the mouth of the well was large. 3 When all the flocks were gathered there, they would then roll the stone from the mouth of the well and water the sheep, and put the stone back in its place on the mouth of the well.

SnyderTalk Comment: Read His Name is Yahweh.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
