Caroline Glick—Obama and the definition of ‘Islamic’:

In his speech on September 11 announcing that the US would commence limited operations against Islamic State, US President Barack Obama insisted, “ISIL, [i.e. Islamic State] is not Islamic. No religion condones the killing of innocents, and the vast majority of ISIL’s victims have been Muslim.”

To be sure, it is hard to see how any human faith can countenance IS’s actions. For the past several months, on a daily basis, new videos appear of IS fighters proudly, openly and wantonly committing crimes against humanity. This week for instance, a video emerged of an IS slave market in Raqqah, Syria, where women and girls are sold as sex slaves to IS fighters.

Despite the glaring contradiction between divinity and monstrosity, the fact is that IS justifies every single one of its atrocities with verses from the Koran.

IS referred to its sex slave market in Raqqah for instance as the “Booty Market… for what your right hands possess.”

SnyderTalk Comment: Obama is presumptuous enough to believe that his definition of “Islamic” is correct, but what he thinks is irrelevant.  Jihadists are showing us what “Islamic” means, and their definition is the only one that matters.

The next time you hear someone say that Islam is a peaceful religion, tell him that he should tell the families of the millions of people who have been slaughtered in the name of Islam over the last few years.  We don’t have to go back to the Middle Ages to start counting.  A few years are more than enough.

Also tell him to explain it to the parents of young girls who were kidnapped and sold to jihadists as sex slaves.  I fear for young Muslim women in predominantly Muslim countries that are turning toward Islamism.  They will suffer in ways that few can imagine.  Turkey is at the top of my list, but there are other countries, too.

And the next time you hear someone use the word “Islamophobe” to describe someone who tells you the truth about Islam, you know for sure that you are talking to a fool or to an aspiring jihadist or a combination of the two.

Naomi Regan: Countering the big lie— There was a time during one of the so-called intifadas (forgive me for not remembering if it was the first, second, or in-between; all that savagery and murder runs together seamlessly in my head these days) that the Palestinians claimed that the Jews had no connection at all to Jerusalem, or the land of Israel. A statement like that, similar to denying the Holocaust, is so insane it leaves one sputtering in wordless confusion. It’s like being asked to prove you aren’t dead. Were we not living in a world unspeakably degraded by dumbed-down college programs, propaganda pamphlets parading as newspapers, and the general degradation of moral and intellectual levels in every strata of society all over the world, such lies could be ignored. Given the reality, we ignore it at our peril. Palestinian big lies seem to be gaining more, not less, steam.

Robert Spencer: 8 of This Week’s Most Absurd Statements About Islam and Jihad— Every time there is an act of jihad terror or a thwarted jihad plot, there is a flurry of attempts to dissociate the atrocities from the Islamic texts and teachings that inspire them. As Muslims in Canada and the U.S. have heeded the Islamic State’s call to attack non-Muslims in their home countries, these attempts have become both more frequent and more risible. A sampling of the latest: 8. Canadian rock star Torquil Campbell blames “fascist” PM Harper for Ottawa jihad attack.

Anne Applebaum: Don’t dare call it a Holocaust memorial: A 43, 000 sq ft museum costing tens of millions of dollars officially opens in Warsaw— There were ministers and presidents, and an audience full of people from around the world. But at the official opening of the beautiful Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw last week, there was one speech that stood out from all of the others. In the cold autumn sunlight, Marian Turski got up in front of the crowd and began with the following words: “During the war years, Jewish partisans sang a song which later became the anthem of their resistance movement. It finished with the words ‘Mir zenen do’ — ‘We are here!'” After the construction of this museum, today I too, a member of the Jewish community in Poland, want to repeat after them: ” ‘Mir zenen do’ — ‘We are here!'” After he spoke, Turski, 88, took the arm of a 13-year-old Polish Jewish girl and the two of them — representatives of an old and new generation of Polish Jews — symbolically opened the museum doors.

Jonathan F. Keiler: Obama’s Israel-Free Dream World— A popular speculative rhetorical question bandied about over the years by various Israel-bashers on both the left and the right is just how peachy things would be in the Middle East had the modern State of Israel not emerged in 1948.  Specifically with respect to America, the usual rationale for this conclusion is that Israel destabilized the region and made effective American alliance with local Arab/Islamic nations difficult, if not impossible.  Ironically, we have President Obama and his successive secretaries of state (Clinton and Kerry) to thank for decisively proving how dumb this theory is. Since Obama took office, his Middle East policy has focused on minimizing and downgrading America’s relationship with Israel.  This has taken the form of picking fights with and gratuitously insulting Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other leaders.

Ray Takeyh: Iran Poised to Choose Nuclear Power over Economic Prosperity—Since the exposure of its illicit nuclear program in 2002, Iran has wrestled with how to expand its nuclear infrastructure while sustaining a measure of economic growth. As the Nov. 24 deadline approaches, Iran has finally come to the crossroads, and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and many hard-line elements seem ready to forge ahead with their nuclear ambitions even if they collide with economic imperatives. In the impractical universe of conservatives, Iran can meet the basic needs of its people by developing local industries. Hard-liners believe that isolation from the international community can best preserve Iran’s ideological identity. This siege mentality drives Iran’s quest for nuclear arms and their deterrent power.

Danielle Pletka: Bibi Netanyahu, ‘chickenshit’— Lots of twitter today over an important piece by Jeffrey Goldberg in the Atlantic about the crisis in US-Israel relations. Most have focused on the Obama administration “senior official” sourced comment that Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu is “chickenshit.” The full quote is worth reading: “The good thing about Netanyahu is that he’s scared to launch wars,” the official said, expanding the definition of what a chickenshit Israeli prime minister looks like. “The bad thing about him is that he won’t do anything to reach an accommodation with the Palestinians or with the Sunni Arab states. The only thing he’s interested in is protecting himself from political defeat. He’s not [Yitzhak] Rabin, he’s not [Ariel] Sharon, he’s certainly no [Menachem] Begin. He’s got no guts.”

Lt. Col. (ret.) Michael Segall: How Iran Views the Fall of Sana’a, Yemen: “The Fourth Arab Capital in Our Hands”—Yemen’s geostrategic location at the entrance to the Red Sea, along with the inherent weakness of its central regime, have made it an attractive target for subversion by external powers. In September, Shia rebels took over the capital city of Sana’a and the Al-Hudaydah port on the Red Sea. Iran has long been trying to take over the sea lanes surrounding the Arab world. It commands the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf and now is trying to seize the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. A member of the Iranian parliament who is close to Khamenei declared, “Three Arab capitals (Beirut, Damascus, and Baghdad) have already fallen into Iran’s hands and belong to the Iranian Islamic Revolution.” He suggested that Sana’a was the fourth capital. Iran views Yemen as a convenient staging ground for subversive activity against Saudi Arabia, its main religious-political rival in the Middle East.

Jonathan S. Tobin: Is There a Tacit Obama-Iran Alliance?— One of the most important sidebars to the furor over the decision of two “senior administration officials” to tell columnist Jeffrey Goldberg that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was a “chickenshit” coward was their boast that he had missed his chance to prevent them from making a weak deal allowing Iran to become a threshold nuclear state. Aside from the general discussion about an administration that is diffident about criticizing actual enemies of the United States choosing to lob outrageous insults at America’s sole democratic ally is the question whether this was a part of an effort to pre-empt Israeli criticism of a weak Iran nuclear deal or was merely just another instance of the Obama foreign policy team’s lack of discipline and incompetence. The Washington Post editorial page has weighed in on behalf of the latter point of view. But unfortunately there is good reason to think this latest administration attack on Israel was part of a calculated strategy on Iran.

Raphael Ahren: Top EU diplomat calls for Palestinian state within 5 years—The European Union’s new foreign policy chief called for the creation of a Palestinian state within the five years of her term, and announced that the EU intends to play a more influential role in the Middle East than it has in the past. “What’s important for me is not whether other countries, be they European or not, recognize Palestine,” Federica Mogherini told the European press in comments published Tuesday, referring to Sweden’s recent recognition of a Palestinian state. “I’d be happy if, during my mandate, the Palestinian state existed.”

Lazar Berman: Nasrallah: Hezbollah ready to fight Israel despite Syrian war—Hezbollah’s rockets can hit anywhere in Israel and the Lebanese terror group is not afraid to fight Israel in another war, head Hassan Nasrallah told supporters in a fiery speech Tuesday. Hezbollah “is fully ready in southern Lebanon,” Nasrallah said, addressing via video thousands of Lebanese Shiites commemorating the Ashura holiday in southern Beirut, Naharnet reported. He said the group’s activities fighting in support of the Syrian regime had not affected its battle readiness.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Genesis 36: 31-39

31 Now these are the kings who reigned in the land of Edom before any king reigned over the sons of Israel. 32 Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom, and the name of his city was Dinhabah. 33Then Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah became king in his place. 34 Then Jobab died, and Husham of the land of the Temanites became king in his place. 35 Then Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the field of Moab, became king in his place; and the name of his city was Avith. 36 Then Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah became king in his place. 37 Then Samlah died, and Shaul of Rehoboth on the Euphrates River became king in his place. 38 Then Shaul died, and Baal-hanan the son of Achbor became king in his place. 39 Then Baal-hanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar became king in his place; and the name of his city was Pau; and his wife’s name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, daughter of Mezahab.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
