Jennifer Rubin—Abbas to U.S.: Get lost:

The [Washington] Post reports: “Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas defied American diplomats Tuesday by unilaterally signing more than a dozen United Nations treaties, endangering the U.S.-brokered peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians. With the stroke of a pen, a pall of confusion descended as diplomats could not answer basic questions about how and when the negotiations will continue. Efforts to forge a final and lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians is a centerpiece of the Obama administration’s foreign policy.”

After five years of endless meetings in the region and in Washington, frayed relations between the U.S. and Israel, countless boasts by the Obama administration about the potential for a peace deal, Obama officials’ constant harangues about the building of Israeli housing and the forced resignation of the only true Palestinian reformer (Salam Fayyad), it was a fitting end to – or, at least, rupture of — the “peace process.” It is stunning that such an utterly useless exercise could be the center of the Obama administration’s foreign policy; but it is indicative of the cluelessness and immense ego of the Obama-Clinton-Kerry foreign policy that so much prestige would be invested in something so fruitless, especially with real crises and challenges popping up around the globe.

Khaled Abu Toameh: Arabs No Longer Take Obama Administration Seriously— The communiqué issued by Arab heads of state at the end of their summit in Kuwait this week shows that the Arab countries do not hold the Obama Administration in high regard or even take it seriously. The Arab leaders also proved once again that they do not care much about their own people, including the Palestinians. The Arab leaders, at the end of their two-day meeting, announced their “total rejection of the call to consider Israel a Jewish state.” This announcement came despite pressure from the Obama Administration on the Arab leaders to refrain from rejecting the demand.

Anne Gearan and William Booth: Kerry: Peace talks need “reality check”— he Obama administration is reassessing a year-long effort to broker peace between Israel and the Palestinians in light of “unhelpful” actions by both sides this week, Secretary of State John F. Kerry warned Friday. “It’s reality-check time,” Kerry said.

Jeffrey Goldberg: John Kerry, Thwarted by the Middle East—Well, God bless John Kerry for trying. President Obama’s administration, and specifically its secretary of state, deserve credit for maintaining the belief – in a very American, very solutionist sort of way – that the application of logic and good sense and creative thinking could bring about, over time, a two-state solution to the 100-year Arab-Jewish war. Maybe Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas will come to realize that his decision to seek international recognition of an imaginary state of Palestine is not the cleverest way to bring about the creation of an actual Palestinian state, assuming a Palestinian state is what he actually wants. Abbas wants the international community to hand him a perfect, ready-made Palestine. But the moral support of Bolivia and Malawi will not bring about the creation of a state. Only Israel can conjure a Palestinian state into existence.

Karen DeYoung and Anne Gearan: U.S. Officials: Kerry’s Mideast Peace Effort May Be Reaching Its Limit—As Secretary of State John Kerry’s tireless efforts to broker Israeli-Palestinian negotiations hit bottom Thursday, there are some around Kerry – including on his senior staff and inside the White House – who believe the time is approaching for him to say, “Enough.” Kerry risks being seen as trying too hard at the expense of a range of other pressing international issues, and perhaps even his reputation, according to several senior administration officials. For now, one official said, Kerry needs to “lower the volume and see how things unfold.” However much President Obama admires Kerry’s stamina and the worthiness of the goal, several officials said, the president believes the effort may be reaching its limit.

Charles Krauthammer: Kerry’s folly, Chapter 3— When has a secretary of state been involved in so many disastrous, self-initiated negotiations? First, John Kerry convenes — against all advice and holding no cards — Geneva negotiations to resolve the Syria conflict and supposedly remove Bashar al-Assad from power. The talks collapse in acrimony and confusion. Kerry’s response? A second Geneva conference that — surprise! — breaks up in acrimony and confusion.

David Horovitz: Why the Peace Talks Are Collapsing—For all of Secretary Kerry’s optimism, Israeli-Palestinian negotiations had been going nowhere for months before they crashed spectacularly this week. The Palestinians halted direct talks with the Israelis back in November. At the heart of the impasse lies a fundamental asymmetry: Israeli Jews have come to believe that their own best interests require an accommodation with the Palestinians. There is no comparable imperative on the Palestinian side – not as long as much of the international community persists in indicating to the Palestinians that they will be able to achieve full independence and sovereignty without the inconvenience of coming to terms with Israel.

Khaled Abu Toameh: Abbas to Kerry: Please Beg Me More!— Abbas is convinced that it is only a matter of time before U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry rushes back to the region in yet anther desperate effort to “salvage the peace process.” In recent weeks, according to Palestinian officials, Kerry has literally been “begging” Abbas to agree to an extension of the peace talks after the end of April. Abbas and the Palestinian Authority leadership have concluded that the Obama Administration is prepared to do almost anything to show some kind of “victory” in the peace process between Palestinians and Israelis. Palestinian demands therefore have continued to increase almost every day.

Michael Curtis: The Bad Faith of Mahmoud Abbas— Has Mahmoud Abbas, the chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization and the unelected president of the Palestinian Authority, really been influenced by the films of Danny Kaye?  In the 1956 film The Court Jester, Kaye wreaks havoc with “The pellet with the poison is in the vessel with the pestle: the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true.” Abbas’s feeble imitation of this great comedian was performed on March 18, 2014, when he accused his rival Mohammed Dahlan, former Palestinian interior minister and national securityadviser, of playing a role in killing Yasser Arafat and six other Palestinian Fatah leaders; with taking large sums on money from the PLO; and with collaborating with Israel.

Menachem Klein: The PA Does Not Have a Realistic Plan B—Contrary to conventional wisdom, the PA does not have a realistic Plan B. It has not been laying the groundwork for organized non-violent protest. Moreover, because of the inevitable American veto, it does not have the option of gaining recognition for a Palestinian state through the UN Security Council. Worse, the PA regime does not have wide-based legitimacy or functioning democratic institutions. There is bitter public protest over the abuse of force by government security agencies and the corruption of senior members of the PA. Criticism of Abbas comes not only from his rival Mohammed Dahlan or Hamas, but from within his own inner circle.

Khabaristan Today: Council of Islamic Ideology declares women’s existence anti-Islamic— Islamabad – Sharia Correspondent: The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) concluded their 192nd meeting on Thursday with the ruling that women are un-Islamic and that their mere existence contradicted Sharia and the will of Allah. As the meeting concluded CII Chairman Maulana Muhammad Khan Shirani noted that women by existing defied the laws of nature, and to protect Islam and the Sharia women should be forced to stop existing as soon as possible. The announcement comes a couple of days after CII’s 191st meeting where they dubbed laws related to minimum marriage age to be un-Islamic.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Malachi 3: 8-12

“Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the whole nation of you! Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says Yahweh Sabaoth, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows. Then I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of the ground; nor will your vine in the field cast its grapes,” says Yahweh Sabaoth. All the nations will call you blessed, for you shall be a delightful land,” says Yahweh Sabaoth.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
