4--Scripture of the Day

Ezekiel 43: 22-27

“On the second day you shall offer a male goat without blemish for a sin offering, and they shall cleanse the altar as they cleansed it with the bull. When you have finished cleansing it, you shall present a young bull without blemish and a ram without blemish from the flock. You shall present them before Yahweh, and the priests shall throw salt on them, and they shall offer them up as a burnt offering to Yahweh. For seven days you shall prepare daily a goat for a sin offering; also a young bull and a ram from the flock, without blemish, shall be prepared. For seven days they shall make atonement for the altar and purify it; so shall they consecrate it. When they have completed the days, it shall be that on the eighth day and onward, the priests shall offer your burnt offerings on the altar, and your peace offerings; and I will accept you,” declares Adonai Yahweh.”

5--HNIY Print form

His Name is Yahweh explains why the Name of God, Yahweh, is so important.  It’s available in eBook format and in paperback.

  • God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ This [Yahweh] is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.” (Exodus 3: 15)
  • “Therefore behold, I am going to make them know—this time I will make them know My power and My might; and they shall know that My name is Yahweh.” (Jeremiah 16: 21)
  • “Behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land.  In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely; and this is His name by which He will be called, ‘Yahweh our righteousness.’” (Jeremiah 23: 5-6)
  • Yeshua said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.” (John 8: 58)

13--Perspectives

#####

Jay Adler: Two Epistemic Closures: The GOP and Israel-Critics—Western liberal Israel-critics persuaded themselves that the Israeli electorate was moving, if it hadn’t already so moved, in a far right – even, hysterically, fascist or theocratic – direction. Israel-critics persuaded themselves that the evidence demonstrated this.

Edward Alexander: Obama’s Call for “Peace in Our Time”: Some Aids to Reflection—In the context of his usual call for “engagement” (rather than war) with nations who harbor “suspicion and fear” of America, President Obama in his inaugural speech of January 21 called for “peace in our time.” Since it is hard to believe that any literate person, with or without Ivy League degrees, can fail to recognize the irony that has surrounded these words ever since Neville Chamberlain uttered them in September 1938 after signing the Munich Agreement with Hitler, just what did the president intend by them?

Jacob Kamaras: Beyond “Apes and Pigs”: Ten Morsi Quotes That Tell All—“So far, President Morsi’s actions have been positive, probably due to Egypt’s need for continued American economic and military support,” Roz Rothstein, CEO of the pro-Israel education group StandWithUs, told JNS.org. “He brokered a truce for Operation Pillar of Defense in November, 2012 and he is keeping the Sinai relatively calm. However, his anti-Semitic views, which are pervasive in the Arab world and especially among Palestinians, threaten existing peace treaties and threaten hopes for long lasting peace in the region.”

Dovid Efune: There Was No Leftward Shift in Israeli Election (VIDEO)— Algemeiner Editor Dovid Efune appeared on Real News TV Wednesday, a day after elections in Israel to discuss the results with host….

Michael J. Koplow: Israel’s Top Two Parties Are Close on Security Issues—The grouping of Yesh Atid, the second largest vote-getter in the Israeli elections, under a center-left banner is analytically lazy. Party leader Yair Lapid has stated that Jerusalem cannot be divided under any circumstances and insists that standing firm on this issue will force the Palestinians to recant their demand that east Jerusalem serve as the capital of a future Palestinian state.

Jennifer Rubin: Reading Israel’s Election—There is, and was during this election, no viable peace party in Israel that wants to double down on the Oslo accords. After Lebanon, Gaza and the Arab Spring, the public at large has largely reached a consensus that a “two-state solution” isn’t happening any time soon and the formula of land for peace did not bring peace. So none of the top vote-getting parties put forth a foreign policy that was distinct from, let alone contrary to, the ruling Likud party’s approach to both Iran and the Palestinians.

Emily B. Landau: A Weapons of Mass Destruction-Free Middle East—While creating a Weapons of Mass Destruction-free zone (WMDFZ) in the Middle East is a worthy goal, regional conditions are not conducive to its creation, nor currently even to serious discussion of the idea. Egypt has been the strongest advocate of the WMDFZ idea since its inception in 1990 (by President Hosni Mubarak), and is the party that almost single-handedly forced it onto the international agenda.

Ron Prosor: Disrupting the Ecosystem of Extremism—Terrorism is rooted in hate, watered with instability and state support, and then planted in the next generation. Every roadside bombing, every suicide attack, and every act of terrorism begins with words and thoughts of hate. It begins with al-Qaeda websites that turn suicide bombers into jihadi celebrities. It begins with Hizbullah summer camps that use arts and crafts to glorify martyrdom and teach bomb making skills to children.

Clifford D. May: Reports of Al-Qaeda’s Death Greatly Exaggerated—The evidence that al-Qaeda is alive and lethal is abundant. To cite just a few examples: the French ground war in Mali against AQIM (al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb), the hostage-taking in Algeria by jihadists closely linked to al-Qaeda, the surge of al-Qaeda-connected fighters in Syria, and the attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi. Serious analysts are acutely aware that no strategic mistake is more dangerous than telling yourself you are winning when you are not.

Aaron David Miller: Netanyahu’s Back— Before the Israeli elections in 1996, I quipped to my colleague Dennis Ross: There’s no way Benjamin Netanyahu can win. 17 years later, Netanyahu has now served longer as Israeli prime minister than anyone other than David Ben-Gurion, and is about to begin coalition negotiations toward an unprecedented third term.

Leo Rennert: Kerry’s Palestinian Fallacy—Heading down the same old blind alley.

Andrew E. Harrod: No Mere Existence for Israel—The Saturday, January 19, 2013 “No Blank Check for Israel” rally demanded that U.S. aid to Israel be “conditioned” on human rights — as defined by the American left.

Jonathan Schanzer: Israel’s January Surprise— With all eyes on the expected rise of Naftali Bennett, the poster boy of the settler movement, it was centrist Yair Lapid, a former newscaster, who emerged as the rising star in Israeli politics following Tuesday’s election. In the process, he served up an all-you-can-eat buffet of crow to the chattering classes.

Andrew Bostom: Hey Hannity, Koran 5:60 Refers to Jews as ‘Apes and Pigs’— The historical treatment of Jews in Muslim societies, including Egypt, since the advent of Islam-chronic oppression, punctuated by outbursts of mass anti-Jewish violence, forced conversion to Islam, or expulsion-has been consistent with such sacralized religious bigotry. Thus the dehumanizing Koranic references to Jews as apes (or apes and pigs) were used explicitly for polemical incitement to large scale, annihilationist pogroms against dhimmi Jewish communities in Granada (within mythically “tolerant” Muslim Spain) during 1066, Baghdad and its environs, proliferating into Iran, at the end of the 13th century, and southern Morocco at the close of the 15th century.

Andrew C. McCarthy: Apes, Pigs, and F-16s—Morsi stated an Islamic leitmotif.

Peter Heck: An Honest and Horrifying Admission—If that being in the womb is human, any justification offered for when or why it is acceptable to kill the child is ethically and constitutionally a case for legalizing murder.

Timothy Birdnow: Gun Control: A Failed American Experiment—The United States has had gun control from its founding. And the results have been dreadful.

Jeffrey Folks: Killing the American Dream—President Obama won re-election on the premise that he is defending the middle class. But the middle class does not need defending — and especially not by government.

Jenni White: The Educational Tech Scam—Why in the world, when our country is trillionsof dollars in debt, would we want to burden ourselves with increased debt in order to promote an educational philosophy that is at best controversial and at worst downright harmful?

John Fund: Filibuster Deal ‘Dramatically Alters the Dynamic of the Senate’— It appears that no one is overjoyed by the compromise deal to change the filibuster rules of the Senate. The left-wing group CREDO blasted the deal by saying Majority Leader Harry Reid had failed to stop obstructionism and he should realize he “can never negotiate with Republicans in good faith.” A top Republican aide defended the bill to me with the weak statement that “it could have been much worse.”

Larry Kudlow: O’s Declaration of Collectivism—The president misunderstands the Founders.

Jim Pettit: Mickelson the Migrant—The tax-burdened golfer has a point.

John Ransom: Obama’s Real Cost: $19 Trillion in Missing GDP—Since it’s unrealistic to expect politicians to make meaningful cuts in government spending, we need to get back the $19 trillion in private GDP that politicians today are so happily squandering through myriad government schemes.

14--Blessings from Revelation

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
