4--Scripture of the Day

Ezekiel 36: 37-38

Thus says Adonai Yahweh, “This also I will let the house of Israel ask Me to do for them: I will increase their men like a flock. Like the flock for sacrifices, like the flock at Jerusalem during her appointed feasts, so will the waste cities be filled with flocks of men. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.”’”

5--HNIY Print form

His Name is Yahweh explains why the Name of God, Yahweh, is so important.  It’s available in eBook format and in paperback.

  • God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ This [Yahweh] is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.” (Exodus 3: 15)
  • “Therefore behold, I am going to make them know—this time I will make them know My power and My might; and they shall know that My name is Yahweh.” (Jeremiah 16: 21)
  • “Behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land.  In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely; and this is His name by which He will be called, ‘Yahweh our righteousness.’” (Jeremiah 23: 5-6)
  • Yeshua said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.” (John 8: 58)

13--Perspectives

#####

Morton A. Klein: Abbas’ Fatah Praises Hamas’ Call For Israel’s Demise—Much of the world appears to believe that Israeli/Palestinian peace is there for the making. As a consequence, many believe that Israel should negotiate with Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah-controlled Palestinian Authority (PA). Indeed, the November 29 United Nations General Assembly resolution supporting ‘Palestine’ as a non-member state was…

Jaime Daremblum: Palestinian Fantasy Land—On November 29th, a remarkable 138 United Nations members voted in favor of granting Palestine the status of a “nonmember observer state,” and another 41 UN members abstained. This statehood vote emboldened Hamas and severely damaged the peace process.

Khaled Abu Toameh: Radical and Moderate Palestinians— When Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal came last week to Gaza and told Palestinians that armed struggle and jihad were the only way to liberate all Palestine because the country belonged only to Muslim and Arabs, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians showed up to voice support for his plan to eliminate Israel and replace it with an Islamic state.

Udi Dekel and Orit Perlov: Challenges and an Internal Balance of Deterrence: Jordanian Discourse on the Social Networks, December 2012—An analysis of internal processes underway in Jordan based on the discourse in the social media is limited, given the regime’s control (in September 2012 a censorship law on op-eds on the internet and the social media was passed) and the scarcity of in-depth analyses by public opinion leaders in Jordan. Young Trans-Jordanians and Palestinians, who understand the power of the new media, have used the networks to sound demands for reforms and a new socio-political order. The new media is also host to members of the political echelon and business community, but their rate of participation falls short compared to other Arab countries.

Dror Eydar: Stop the incitement— There is a group among us that is trying to force the Palestinian issue back into focus even though the world is really not interested in it.

Zalman Shoval: The E1 witch hunt— The E1 plan was never before a top priority for Israel’s prime ministers. Now, in the face of one-sided Palestinian initiatives, things have changed.

Clifford D. May: Dictators and dissidents— Support the latter, bet on the former.

Ben Cohen: The Disunited Arab Republics—The Russian revolutionary leader, Vladimir Lenin, was fond of the phrase “one step forward, two steps back.” In the current Middle East, we…

Evelyn Gordon: The Gaza Operation’s Effect on Iran— How effectively Israel’s recent Gaza operation will deter Palestinian rocket fire remains to be seen. Israelis are skeptical: One poll found that a whopping 88 percent think the truce will not last long. Even Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu doesn’t sound too confident: Visiting an airbase shortly after the cease-fire took effect, he warned pilots they should already start preparing for the next campaign.

Evelyn Gordon: Liberal American Jews, Tzipi Livni, and the Israeli Consensus—Last week, Seth wrote an excellent post on the irreconcilability of European and Israeli visions for a two-state solution. What’s far more worrying, however, is that liberal American Jews appear to be on the European side of the divide. To grasp just how wide the gap yawns, compare the Union for Reform Judaism’s response to planned Israeli construction in the West Bank’s E-1 area to today’s remarks by one of Israel’s most dovish politicians, Tzipi Livni.

Peter Martino: The Real “Obstacle to Peace.” Rocket Attacks? Calls for genocide?— Iran is building nuclear weapons, Syria is slaughtering its citizens, Libya is being taken over by al-Qaeda, Egypt is threatened with another Pharaoh, Turkey is working toward rebuilding the Ottoman Empire, and Christians are being massacred in Egypt, Nigeria and Mali (among other countries). But last Thursday, the European Commission summoned the Israeli Ambassador to the European Union (EU) over Israel’s plan to build 3,000 new homes in Judea, Samaria and eastern Jerusalem. The Israeli plans were a response to the United Nations’ decision on 29 November to grant the Palestinian Authority the status of a UN non-member observer state, in direct violation of the UN’s own Resolutions 242, 338, and 1850 — an overruling the UN Charter specifically forbids.

Leo Rennert: A Formula for Smearing Israel—Here’s Exhibit A of the Washington Post’s — and many other media outlet’s — method of slandering Israel. You start with the Post’s Dec. 12 headline: “Israel raids offices of 3 West Bank groups.” For readers who just skim the headline and go on to other parts of the paper, the impression is clear: Israel using its muscle to intimidate Palestinians.

Joseph Klein: Obama Gives His Blessing to Islamist-Dominated Syrian Rebels—Another soon-to-be Islamist state to add to the president’s list.

Nonie Darwish: What Egyptians Are Afraid to Know—Why the Egyptian public needs an honest discussion of what Sharia really is.

Seth Mandel: Jerusalem’s Mayor Defends His City—Israel’s current government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has never shied away from engaging its critics abroad, as is evident by the numerous op-eds authored by Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren. Oren was considered an inspired choice for ambassador to the U.S. in part because he is one of the leading historians on the Middle East and has written perhaps the definitive history of America’s involvement in the Middle East from its founding.

Max Boot: The Kosovo Precedent—The New York Times has an amusing article today about how Madeleine Albright, Wesley Clark, and other former Clinton administration officials and generals are trying to cash in in Kosovo, which American intervention rescued from Serbian oppression. As a result of the Clinton administration’s actions, Kosovo has become one of the most pro-American places in the world with streets named after both Bill Clinton and Bob Dole and a statue of Clinton in the capital, Pristina.

Justin Hohn: How Much Taxation Would Fund Current Spending?—You’re not going to want to know the answer.

Kim Zigfeld: Misreporting on Russia—Russia Beyond the Headlines is funded by the Kremlin and it has a clear mission: create an alternate reality, and focus on trying to convince unwary Westerners that Russia is benign.

Daniel Greenfield: Gun Control, People Control and Thought Control—Why the left rejects rights and responsibility.

David James: Tennessee’s Troubling Islamist Network—Home to the Holy Land Foundation II?

NRO Editors: A Modest Reform—Michigan has passed a modest labor reform, and the result has been threats and violence from Democratic elected officials and their union henchmen. While this is deplorable, it is not surprising: Organized labor’s business model is mechanically identical to extortion, and it is in the nature of the extortionist’s trade to resort to violence when frustrated.

Michelle Malkin: ‘There Will Be Blood’—Not so many moons ago, President Obama urged us all to “make sure that we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not a way that wounds.” He Who Heals advocated “a more civil and honest public discourse” in the wake of the January 2011 Tucson massacre. As usual, though, the White House has granted Big Labor bullies a permanent waiver from the lofty edicts it issues to everyone else.

Larry Elder: Taxman to Middle Class: ‘Bend Over’—Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean, appearing on MSNBC, said: “The only problem is — and this is, a little, initially going to seem like heresy from a progressive — the truth is everybody needs to pay more taxes, not just the rich. That’s a good start. But we’re not going to get out of this deficit problem unless we raise taxes across the board — to go back to what Bill Clinton had and his taxes. And if we don’t do that, the problem is the pressure is going to be on spending even more.”

14--Blessings from Revelation

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
