“Seek Yahweh while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him return to Yahweh, and He will have compassion on him. Turn to our Elohim, for He will abundantly pardon.”

Isaiah 55: 6-7

The War in Ukraine: Joe Biden is in a Lose-Lose Situation

With mid-term elections 2 weeks away, left-wing Democrats are becoming increasingly restless. They should be. They know that their chances of holding the Senate and the House are evaporating, and they know that Joe Biden’s performance as president is the cause of their problems. They see a face-to-face meeting between Putin and Biden as their last best hope of retaining control of the Senate and/or the House, and they are urging the president to arrange a meeting with Putin before the election. It’s a desperate ploy by desperate people.

Unless you are Vladimir Putin, it is impossible to know what would happen if President Biden asked Putin for a face-to-face meeting to discuss Ukraine, so this SnyderTalk editorial is part fact and part conjecture.

Facts

Fact: Biden and his team know that meeting with Putin is a huge gamble for the president and that failure on the world stage at this juncture is unacceptable. At the halfway point of his term in office, Biden’s credibility with voters is so low that members of his own party are salivating about the possibility of replacing him on the Democrat ticket in 2024. A failed meeting with Putin would be another nail in Biden’s political coffin, and it looks like his political coffin is almost completely shut already.

Fact: Biden talked with Putin before he invaded Ukraine and warned him not to do it, but Putin completely ignored the president. He invaded Ukraine and proceeded to cut off gas supplies to Europe. I doubt that Biden or any European leader expected that to happen. What might Putin do next? Anything’s possible. As I said, meeting with Putin is a huge gamble.

Fact: Thanks to his Ukraine invasion, Putin is in serious trouble at home. According to the Ukraine General Staff, as of mid-August Russian losses included 43,750 personnel dead and wounded but mostly dead, 1,876 tanks, 4,141 armored fighting vehicles, 985 artillery systems, 261 multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), 233 aircraft, 195 helicopters, 787 operational-tactical level unmanned aerial vehicles (USVs), 187 cruise missiles, 15 ships and boats, and 3,044 automotive equipment and tank trucks. Since mid-August, Russian military losses have continued at an increasing pace. That is a huge investment of precious resources that Putin must explain to the Russian people. Dictators have a strange habit of dying in office at the hands of their people. Putin knows that.

Fact: Large numbers of Russians are protesting in the streets in cities all over Russia, and they are engaging Russian security personnel. As of March, more than 15,000 Russians had been arrested in anti-war protests, and stories about the way they have been treated in jail are spreading in Russia like wildfires in California.

Fact: In September, Putin had to initiate conscription to replace his dead and wounded troops. That was Russia’s first conscription since World War II. Immediately, Russians started fleeing the country. A few of them fled to the United States by crossing the Bering Strait in small boats. It’s is one of the most treacherous patches of ocean on Earth. It has strong winds, freezing temperatures, and icy water under normal conditions.

Fact: Putin is trying to set the stage for the use of tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine. As his options quickly evaporate, the probability that he will actually order the use of tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine increases. That has led many knowledgeable people to warn that a nuclear attack in Ukraine could lead to a global nuclear war. To see what a global nuclear war might look like, watch the video below.

Fact: Joe Biden has failed miserably so far. It’s impossible to know what advice he has received, but the fact that he has failed is undeniable.

Conjecture

Conjecture: Joe Biden and his top advisors know that Vladimir Putin doesn’t respect or fear the president. I put this in the conjecture category, but personally, I think it’s a fact. Admittedly, with Biden and his team, you never know. Delusion is always a possibility.

Conjecture: If Biden does decide to ask for a face-to-face meeting with Putin, there is a chance that Putin would not accept the invitation. If Putin refuses to meet with the president, it would be a slap in Biden’s face. If Putin agrees to meet with the president and ignores his advice again, it would prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Russian leader has no respect for Biden.

Conjecture: Given what has happened so far, there is a good chance that Biden will reject left-wing Democrats’ advice to protect his own political future. In advance of the 2024 campaign, Biden doesn’t want to arm his Democrat opponents and their growing numbers of followers by showing them that he is as useless as tits on bull.

Conjecture: There are 2 reasons that Putin might agree to meet with Biden: 1) professional courtesy and 2) to give the Russian leader an escape hatch. If Putin wants to throw in the towel and lick his wounds, a meeting with Biden could set the stage for a tactical retreat, but Putin has not given any indication that he is moving in that direction. In fact, he is moving in the opposite direction.

Conjecture: At this point, almost no one trusts Putin, and almost no one thinks Joe Biden is up to the task of being President of the United States. If Biden meets with Putin and comes home with a “victory,” he will look like Neville Chamberlain after he returned to London from a meeting in Berlin with Adolf Hitler. Chamberlain was waving a signed document in the air and saying “My good friends, for the second time in our history, a British Prime Minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time…Go home and get a nice quiet sleep.” That’s the kind of thing you expect to see in a skit on Saturday Night Live.

Conjecture: Putin doesn’t want to go down in Russian history as a loser, the man who tried to recreate the Russian Empire and failed. He must end the war in Ukraine with a victory, and he isn’t close to that yet. Putin won’t end the war in Ukraine until he thinks he can justify the cost of the war in lives and rubles to the Russian people. That day won’t come in the next 2 weeks. I doubt that it will come at all.

Conjecture: Biden will ignore the advice he is getting from left-wing Democrats. He is in a lose-lose situation. He’s damned if he does ask Putin for meeting, and he’s damned if he doesn’t ask Putin for a meeting. Left-wing Democrats aren’t smart enough to figure out things like this. In fact, by giving Biden that advice publicly, they are highlighting their incompetence and Biden’s incompetence as president.

“I am the good shepherd. I know My sheep and My sheep know Me — just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father — and I lay down My life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also. They too will listen to My voice, and there shall be one flock and one Shepherd. The reason My Father loves Me is that I lay down My life — only to take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from My Father.”

John 10: 14-18
