“Seek Yahweh while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him return to Yahweh, and He will have compassion on him. Turn to our Elohim, for He will abundantly pardon.”

Isaiah 55: 6-7

Is it too late to save the United States?

Is it too late to save the United States?

That’s not a rhetorical question, and I’m not trying to be provocative. I am deadly serious, because I believe there is a good chance that the U.S. has passed the point of no return.

We’ll see.

I have tried to understand how the Supreme Court’s notoriously flawed Roe v. Wade decision could have survived for almost 50 years, but it can’t understand it.

The right to life is the most basic right that our Constitution was written to protect, but in 1973, our Supreme Court created a precedent that legalized premeditated murder.

There is no other way to say it. Abortion is premediated murder almost all the time.

Science isn’t in doubt about the fact that unborn babies are unique human beings with unique DNA. Twenty-two days after conception, unborn babies’ hearts are beating. We know that, and we have known it for a very long time. Within weeks of conception, unborn babies have developing brains and nervous systems, and they can feel pain.

During most abortion procedures, unborn babies are either burned to death with a strong saline compound, or they are literally cut to pieces, i.e., they are butchered. No attempt is made to anesthetize the unborn child before the murder is committed.

If that’s not “cruel and unusual punishment”, I don’t know what is. The 8th Amendment to the Constitution expressly forbids “cruel and unusual punishment”.

For almost 50 years, our nation has shown more compassion for stray dogs and cats than it has for unborn children. During that time, we have murdered in the neighborhood of 60 million unborn babies who were not given due process. The 5th Amendment to the Constitution says that no one shall be “deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law.”

Democrats across the nation are beginning to openly discuss legalizing infanticide. That’s shocking, but it highlights the point I am making. Where we go from here is anybody’s guess.

My fear is that after almost 50 years of living with an immoral and unconstitutional precedent, our nation has become calloused. We have grown accustomed to abortion on demand with impunity and many other immoral acts. Things can get a lot worse if we continue on our present trajectory.

A recent Gallup Poll found that 61% of Americans believe abortion on demand with impunity in some way, shape, or form should be legal. Thanks to Roe v. Wade, they see it as a “constitutional right” that should be protected.

That’s a huge percentage of our population. The recent Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade won’t solve that problem. It just corrects a legal error. The battle for the hearts, minds, and souls of our citizens is just beginning. The war will continue, but most of the battles will be fought in the states, not in our nation’s capital.

Have we passed the point of no return? I don’t know the answer to that question, but I think it may be “yes”.

I’m not suggesting that we should give up the fight and throw in the towel. In fact, I think we need to intensify our efforts. Even so, I wonder what the outcome will be, and I am not optimistic.

Yahweh has given our nation a chance to repent. We need to take full advantage of it, but I have a strong feeling that we are heading for more trouble with our Creator than most of us can imagine.

I know this, though. It’s time to stop playing church. It’s time to quit pretending to be believers while we engage in grossly immoral behavior. It’s time to do more than just talk. It’s time to act.

Thanks to Yahweh’s grace and mercy, we have an opportunity to do the right thing, but Yahweh’s grace and mercy have limits. At some point, He will close the door. Candidly, I’m surprised that He hasn’t closed the door already.

Switching Gears Slightly

Over the years, it became obvious to me that the people who were most adamant about protecting the so-called “constitutional right” women have to murder their unborn children were the same people who were most vocal about restricting gun rights. They were also the same people who were most vocal about protecting animal rights.

Nothing in the Constitution even hints at protecting murder. That’s exactly what abortions are almost all the time. But the Constitution explicitly protects gun rights so that U.S. citizens can defend themselves from a tyrannical government and from those who would attempt to do us serious bodily harm.

I don’t have a problem with protecting animals, but I recognize the difference between stray cats and dogs and unborn children. A very large percentage of our citizens seem to have lost touch with reality. I believe they see the notions of morality and common decency as antiquated concepts. Evil is so prevalent in our country today that it’s becoming normal, and with each passing year, we see evidence of more and more atrocious evil.

Our country isn’t just on a slippery slope to total depravity and rejection of Yahweh. I think we have reached the point on that slope already where Yahweh will have to deal with us harshly. I know what He can do. You should, too. If you don’t know what Yahweh is capable of doing, I suggest that you read Exodus. It’s the second book in the Bible. Or read in Genesis (the first book in the Bible) about the days of Noah and Sodom and Gomorrah.

It’s interesting that the Messiah said the days leading up to His return will be like the days of Noah. (See Matthew 24: 37-41) Are we in the days of Noah? I think we are.

“I am the good shepherd. I know My sheep and My sheep know Me — just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father — and I lay down My life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also. They too will listen to My voice, and there shall be one flock and one Shepherd. The reason My Father loves Me is that I lay down My life — only to take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from My Father.”

John 10: 14-18
