July 2, 2022 SnyderTalk—J. Vernon McGee: Part 4

“Seek Yahweh while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him return to Yahweh, and He will have compassion on him. Turn to our Elohim, for He will abundantly pardon.”

Isaiah 55: 6-7

J. Vernon McGee: Part 4

In May, I wrote 3 SnyderTalk editorials about J. Vernon McGee’s Thru the Bible:

Now that I’ve had time to listen to a large number of his programs/sermons, I can tell you without reservation or qualification that I believe McGee’s ministry is important for the whole world at this very moment. I even think it may be the most important ministry in the world today.

“Taking the Whole Word for the Whole World” is Thru the Bible’s motto or slogan or whatever you want to call it. That’s exactly what the people at Thru the Bible are doing, and they are effective.

I won’t go into detail explaining what Thru the Bible does. The show’s host and the President of Thru the Bible appear together frequently during the prologue section of the show to read letters and emails from listeners around the world and to explain exactly what TTB is doing and why it’s doing it. You will pick it up while you listen.

As of today, Thru the Bible has been translated into more than 130 languages. The other day, I listened to a program during which the host and the president talked about their plans to translate the show into 100 languages for India alone. There are lots of local languages in India that only people in a particular region understand. TTB wants to take the Word to them in their most familiar tongue. To me, that’s nothing short of amazing, and they aren’t just talking about doing it. They are actually doing it right now.

As the host and the president explain it and as the letters and emails confirm, groups of believers in countries like India, Sudan, Somalia, Indonesia, Russia, Iran, China, Turkey, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia are gathering together in groups to study the Word with J. Vernon McGee as their teacher. McGee uses lots of U.S. examples in the show, but those examples are dropped in foreign languages. They are replaced with examples from those countries that are prepared by people living in those countries. That means each country has a TTB program that is tailor made for that country. Again, I am amazed at what they have done and accomplished.

Those home groups eventually develop into churches that are very much like the churches mentioned in the New Testament. One group may spawn a host of new church groups that meet in homes to avoid the penalty of violating the laws in some countries. I’m sure you know that in some countries people put their lives at risk for meeting together and talking about the Messiah. Those are the very countries where TTB is most effective and growing most rapidly.

McGee started something that is doing what the Messiah commanded us to do. TTB is taking the Gospel to the whole world using technology that wasn’t available until fairly recently. TTB is delivering programs through stick drives, podcasts, YouTube, shortwave radio, AM radio, and in other ways, too. There is even talk of developing country specific television shows with a discussion format. Who knows what they will think of next?

TTB has a prayer group that gets regular emails from the home office in Pasadena, CA talking about country specific prayer requests. Large numbers of believers are praying for the unsaved around the world and the effects are breathtaking.

As far as I know, there is nothing like TTB. It stands alone, and it is accomplishing great things for Yahweh. If you haven’t started listening to TTB, I urge you to do it. It’s free. All you need to do is download the TTB app.

I downloaded the app from the Apple App Store, because I know Apple is very security conscious. So am I. I downloaded it on all my iPods and iPhones, so I can listen to TTB during down times. Instead of listening to mindless chatter on the radio while I drive or random music, I listen to TTB. In the evenings, I listen to it while I relax and unwind. Each show is about 26-minutes-long. That’s perfect, and you can listen to them as quickly as you want.

I am confident that you will enjoy TTB. McGee brings a world of experience to the table, and he’s a great teacher. I thank Yahweh every day for bringing TTB and J. Vernon McGee into my life. Next to Paul, I think he may be the most important missionary who ever lived. He has been a great blessing to me. I look forward to meeting him in heaven and telling him, “Thank you.”

It is not a coincidence that TTB is growing so rapidly right now. Before Yahweh returns, every person will have the opportunity to accept or reject Yahweh’s great gift to humankind, the Savior. Listening to TTB, there is no mistaking who He is and what He did for us. It’s powerful stuff.

I don’t agree with everything McGee says, but he is spot on almost all the time. I wish I had written His Name is Yahweh before McGee died in 1988. I would have enjoyed talking with him about the importance of the Name Yahweh. McGee knows it now. We’ll rejoice one day and praise Yahweh together.

McGee’s legacy is amazing, and it’s growing rapidly. It just goes to show what Yahweh can do through anyone who is willing to follow Him. There is no telling how many people like McGee there are who are being raised up right now thanks to TTB. They will extend the Gospel’s reach even further into countries that are resistant to the Gospel. I’m doing my part by telling you about it, and it won’t cost you anything. When you start listening to TTB, you will want to tell your friends, too.

“I am the good shepherd. I know My sheep and My sheep know Me — just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father — and I lay down My life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also. They too will listen to My voice, and there shall be one flock and one Shepherd. The reason My Father loves Me is that I lay down My life — only to take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from My Father.”

John 10: 14-18
