The Apostasy of the Church Started Decades Ago, and it Won’t Last Forever
Please take a few minutes and listen to this short sermon from J. Vernon McGee. It’s from Ezra 10: Ezra 10, Thru the Bible, J. Vernon McGee.
The letters read on the program before McGee delivered his sermon reveal an important truth. Thru the Bible is having important and significant effects worldwide, and McGee’s ministry is growing even though he died almost 45 years ago. That’s a legacy worth leaving.
In his sermon, McGee talks about the apostasy of the Church today. Believers should know that the apostasy of the Church will precede the Messiah’s return, i.e., the Day of Yahweh. This is what believers in large numbers don’t seem to grasp: We are in the apostasy of the Church right now, and we’ve been in it for decades.
The apostasy of the Church won’t last forever. When it ends, the anti-Messiah will take the stage and tell us that he is Elohim. Don’t believe him. He is merely setting the stage for Yahweh’s return. Yahweh will come Himself and say, “Here I AM.”
For Yahweh’s faithful followers, there will be no mistaking His return. Only the unfaithful will be deceived by the events preceding His return. Nothing like Yahweh’s return has happened before, and nothing like it will happen again.
Paul talked about the apostasy of the Church and Yahweh’s return in 2 Thessalonians 2: 1-12:
Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, regarding the coming of our Master Yeshua the Messiah and our gathering together to Him, that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit, or a message, or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the Day of Yahweh has come. Let no one deceive you in any way! For it [the Day of Yahweh] will not come unless the apostasy [of the Church] comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of Elohim, displaying himself as being Elohim. Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things? And you know what restrains him now, so that he will be revealed in his time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is removed. Then that lawless one will be revealed, whom Yahweh will eliminate with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not accept the love of the truth so as to be saved. For this reason, Elohim will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness. (2 Thessalonians 2: 1-12)
Now, please take a moment and reread this SnyderTalk editorial: “Elohim created man in His own image, in the image of Elohim He created him; male and female He created them.” I wrote it in February 2022.
Many so-called “believers” in our nation have betrayed Yahweh. They have bought Satan’s lies and are behaving as though Yahweh doesn’t exist—that He is a figment of their imaginations. That’s true in every institution in our society today including the Church, but the day for playing church with impunity is about to end.
When Yahweh returns, He will separate the sheep from the goats. (See Matthew 25: 31-33.) Get ready. That day is coming. I don’t think it’s too far off.
When I wrote that editorial, I texted or emailed it to several “Church leaders” in the Greenville-Spartanburg area and asked them if they were familiar with the problem. Not even one of them responded. One of them was Billy Graham’s pastor before Graham died. He’s promoting his book Saturdays with Billy: My Friendship with Billy Graham. He makes a lot of that fact on his radio show.
Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: “Though the number of the Israelites be like the sand by the sea, only the remnant will be saved. For Yahweh will carry out His sentence on earth with speed and finality.” It is just as Isaiah said previously: “Unless Yahweh Sabaoth had left us descendants, we would have become like Sodom, we would have been like Gomorrah.” (Romans 9: 27-29)
