“Seek Yahweh while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him return to Yahweh, and He will have compassion on him. Turn to our Elohim, for He will abundantly pardon.”

Isaiah 55: 6-7

Only Direct Descendants of Judah are Jewish

When a person reads the Bible for the first time, one thing stands out in his mind: The begats. The begats start in Genesis 5 and continue throughout the Bible.

Although people who are new to the Bible find the begats distracting and maybe annoying, they are there for a reason. To Yahweh, lineage matters.

The only real Jews are direct descendants of Judah. No one can become a Jew by doing anything, but according to Judaism, a person can become a Jew by converting to Judaism.

In a literal sense, that’s not possible, but in a religious sense, it is.

Judaism is a religion. It is not based on the Bible. It’s based on the Oral Law. The Oral Law is also known as Halacha and the traditions of the Jews. The Oral Law explains how a person who is not a direct descendant of Judah can become a Jew. That’s like explaining how a dog can become a cat. In a literal sense, that’s not possible, but religious rules were written to allow non-Jews to become Jews.

Those rules can’t change reality. Either you are a direct descendant of Judah, or you are not. If you are a direct descendant of Judah, you are Jewish. If you are not a direct descendant of Judah, you are not Jewish. It’s as simple as that.

I don’t have any idea what percentage of people today who call themselves “Jews” are actually Jews, but it would not surprise me to discover that the percentage is small. Over the millennia, people complied with the edicts in the Oral Law to join the club, so to speak, and they think they are Jews by virtue of the fact that they associate themselves with Judaism. After a generation or two passed, the descendants of people who converted to Judaism lost sight of the fact that no one in their family was ever Jewish. In reality, they are not Jewish, and they never can be Jewish. Their ancestors simply complied with the Oral Law as a rite of initiation into Judaism, but from Yahweh’s perspective, they are not Jews no matter what they did unless they are direct descendants of Judah.

As the time of the end approaches, many things need to be straightened out. One thing that needs to be determined is who are Jacob’s descendants. They are the Children of Israel. Jacob had 12 sons. Judah was one of them, not all 12 of them.

Yahweh made His promises to Abraham and extended them to Abraham’s descendants through Isaac and Jacob. Yahweh also extended His promises to anyone who adheres to the faith of Abraham which is faith in Yahweh. The faith of Abraham has absolutely nothing to do with Christianity or Judaism or any other religion. It’s based on faith in Yahweh and obedience to Him. That’s it. Nothing else matters.

To understand why this issue is important, read Ezekiel 37. People who don’t understand this issue will have no hope of understanding what it taking place when the time of the end arrives. They will be hopelessly confused.

As I said, to Yahweh, lineage matters. It always has mattered to Him, and it always will matter to Him. Faith and obedience matter, too, but religion doesn’t matter at all.

When the time of the end arrives, Yahweh will upset a lot of applecarts.

“But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. Elohim is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4: 23-24)

In Yahweh’s kingdom, there is no place for religion. There is plenty of room for spirit and truth, though.

“I am the good shepherd. I know My sheep and My sheep know Me — just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father — and I lay down My life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also. They too will listen to My voice, and there shall be one flock and one Shepherd. The reason My Father loves Me is that I lay down My life — only to take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from My Father.”

John 10: 14-18
