Vladimir Putin Has to Go
See “Russia Bans Coupon Payment to Foreigners on $29 Billion in Bonds”. In technical terms, this is called “default”, and it’s just the beginning.
At this point, Vladimir Putin has to go. If he is in power in Russia and he harbors grievances because Western leaders refused to allow him to take over Ukraine with impunity, he might do something really stupid. Russian military leaders and the Russian people should know that without being told.
Putin was probably emboldened because Western leaders didn’t intervene in 2014 and stop him from taking the Crimean Peninsula from Ukraine. That was a tragic blunder by the West, but keep in mind that Barack Obama was president. Obama was many things, but competent wasn’t one of them. As President of the United States, he was an empty suit — all hat an no cattle.
In a few short days, Putin has done more harm to Russia and the Russian people than any Russian leader since Joseph Stalin. If he resists removal from office and starts killing his own people, he will be just like Stalin.
Vladimir Putin has no one to blame but himself. He had many opportunities to reconsider his foolish invasion plan, but he rejected sound advice. Now, the Russian people have a job to do.
