February 23, 2022 SnyderTalk—Truckers are Leading the Way

“Seek Yahweh while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him return to Yahweh, and He will have compassion on him. Turn to our Elohim, for He will abundantly pardon.”

Isaiah 55: 6-7

Truckers are Leading the Way

Canadian truckers get it. COVID mandates are obsolete. We know enough about COVID now to realize that’s true. Even so, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is oblivious to reality. He thinks his job is to shove COVID mandates down people’s throats no matter what.

Some say that Trudeau is brave. Others say he is stupid. Eventually, we’ll know which is correct. Canadian voters will tell us.

Sports fans in the U.S. get it, too. They have been packing into baseball and football stadiums like canned sardines for more than a year, completely ignoring COVID protocols, and enjoying themselves. Millions of baseball and football fans have attended thousands of games, and so far, there has not been a single example of a spike in COVID infections following a game. You could not ask for a better test of our COVID mandate policies than those games.

Those games, my friends, are irrefutable evidence that our COVID mandates are ineffective and unnecessary.

Our elected officials in Washington still don’t get it. U.S. truckers are planning a convoy to our nation’s capital to send them a message. See “Washington DC issues alert as it braces for trucker protest”.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says, “Never fear. We’re on it.” See “Pelosi says she’s monitoring the freedom trucker convoy heading to DC ‘very closely’”.

At what point will U.S. elected officials catch up with the rapidly changing COVID reality? When will they accept the COVID facts? How can we communicate effectively with our elected officials?

Truckers have an answer: Protest. Refuse to go along with senseless COVID mandates.

That, my friends, is how our system works.

I remember when John Kennedy was president. Black leaders asked him to help them, and Kennedy said, “Make me.”

The president wasn’t being unaccommodating or obstinate. He was telling black leaders what they needed to do to change the status quo in the U.S.

The president couldn’t help them until they helped themselves. That’s what we need to do now, too. Truckers are leading the way. Others will surely follow.

We have had enough of mindless COVID mandates that we know don’t have any effect on the health of our people.

Some people are prone to get COVID of one type or another and suffer greatly from the disease. By now, we know who they are. Some of those people will die from the disease, but they are a very small minority of our people. They tend to be old people with multiple comorbidities, but they are not stupid. They need to take precautions to protect themselves, and they know it. If they decide to attend sporting events in packed stadiums, they are responsible.

It makes no sense to impose mandates on everyone in our country because a small percentage of our people are susceptible to serious COVID infections.

For What It’s Worth

The University of Virginia is coming around to COVID reality slowly. See “UVA announces update to mask mandate”.

I have friends at UVA who now call it “Snowflake U”. It was not Snowflake U in 1979 when I went there, but it was heading in that direction before I left 25 years later.

I retired from UVA and moved to South Carolina in May 2004. That was almost 18 years ago. A lot of things changed in the Commonwealth of Virginia during those years. A lot of things changed at UVA, too, but I don’t see it every day. Charlottesville is 400 miles from where I live. Sometimes, distance is your friend.

“I am the good shepherd. I know My sheep and My sheep know Me — just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father — and I lay down My life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also. They too will listen to My voice, and there shall be one flock and one Shepherd. The reason My Father loves Me is that I lay down My life — only to take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from My Father.”

John 10: 14-18
