“Seek Yahweh while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him return to Yahweh, and He will have compassion on him. Turn to our Elohim, for He will abundantly pardon.”

Isaiah 55: 6-7

Yahweh is Israel’s Savior, Deliverer, and Protector

Most ordinary Americans know about Israel only what they see, hear, and read in the Western media. But Western media types have an agenda, and it’s anti-Israel. Their stories contain a smidgen of “facts” with political spin that supports their “liberal progressive” narrative. The Israel they portray doesn’t exist in the real world.

Cutting to the chase, most stories about Israel in the Western media are really bad fiction.

A few years ago, Katie and I were in Israel for a month, and we invited Katie’s sister, Natalie, and her daughter, Danielle, to join us for a week. Danielle was a student at Boston University at the time. While they were with us, Danielle kept telling me, “Neil, this is not like what I have been told.” The fact that she had been sold a bill of goods by her professors and fellow students surprised her, but it didn’t surprise me. I cut my teeth in a university environment.

“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight!” (Isaiah 5: 20-21)

As we walked around Jerusalem, Natalie and Danielle saw Muslims and Jews side-by-side in stores and in restaurants eating, drinking, and enjoying themselves. There wasn’t a hint of animosity or violence. They saw the real Israel, not the fabricated Israel presented in the Western media and at “liberal progressive” universities.

On their last day with us, we took Natalie and Danielle to Tel Aviv. They saw a bustling city. Tel Aviv is like any major city in that regard. There wasn’t even a hint of the Tel Aviv they thought they knew.

Yahweh is Israel’s Rock

Politicians like to debate Israel’s boundaries. They think they have the authority to make those decisions, but they don’t.

Yahweh declared Israel’s boundaries, and He promised the Land of Israel to Abraham’s descendants through Isaac and Jacob. It belongs to the Children of Israel into perpetuity. Yahweh is Israel’s Elohim, Israel’s Rock. He is Israel’s Savior, Deliverer, and Protector, too. Yahweh’s security is security Israel can count on, because He keeps His word.

“I am Yahweh, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from their bondage. I will also redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. Then I will take you for My people, and I will be your Elohim; and you shall know that I am Yahweh your Elohim, who brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. I will bring you to the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you for a possession; I am Yahweh.” (Exodus 6: 6-8)

No nation in the history of the world except Israel existed, was destroyed, and then came back into existence with the same language. Israel was reborn in one day by the hand of Yahweh.

“A voice of uproar from the city, a voice from the temple, the voice of Yahweh who is rendering recompense to His enemies. ‘Before she travailed, she brought forth. Before her pain came, she gave birth to a boy. Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Can a land be born in one day? Can a nation be brought forth all at once? As soon as Zion travailed, she also brought forth her sons. Shall I bring to the point of birth and not give delivery?’ says Yahweh. ‘Or shall I who gives delivery shut the womb?’” says your Elohim. (Isaiah 66: 6-9)

King David explained what it means to have Yahweh as Savior, Deliverer, and Protector:

He said, “Yahweh is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my Elohim, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; my Savior, You save me from violence. I call upon Yahweh, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.” (2 Samuel 22: 2-4)

He explained it again in Psalm 18:

“I love You, O Yahweh, my strength. Yahweh is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my Elohim, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon Yahweh, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.” (Psalm 18: 1-3)

Israel’s enemies are Yahweh’s enemies. David knew it. I know it, too. I hope you know it as well. Yahweh will fulfill every promise He made to and about Israel to the letter.

“The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree. He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Planted in the house of Yahweh, they will flourish in the courts of our Elohim. They will still yield fruit in old age. They shall be full of sap and very green, to declare that Yahweh is upright. He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.” (Psalm 92: 12-15)

The Messiah is Yahweh

Yahweh told Jeremiah that the Messiah is Yahweh:

“Behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch. He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land. In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. This is His Name by which He will be called, ‘Yahweh our righteousness.’” (Jeremiah 23: 5-6)

As I said, Yahweh is Israel’s Savior, Deliverer, and Protector. He is watching over His promises to fulfill them. He came 2,000 years ago, but He was rejected by the religious establishment in Judea. He’s coming again. The next time He comes, He will destroy His and Israel’s enemies, but He won’t come until the people of Israel call on Him by Name and know who they are asking to deliver them:

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were unwilling. Behold, your house is being left to you desolate! For I say to you, from now on you will not see Me until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the Name of Yahweh!’” (Matthew 23: 37-39)

“I am the good shepherd. I know My sheep and My sheep know Me — just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father — and I lay down My life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also. They too will listen to My voice, and there shall be one flock and one Shepherd. The reason My Father loves Me is that I lay down My life — only to take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from My Father.”

John 10: 14-18
