“Seek Yahweh while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him return to Yahweh, and He will have compassion on him. Turn to our Elohim, for He will abundantly pardon.”

Isaiah 55: 6-7

We have Become “Dull of Hearing”

We have some serious problems in Christendom. It begins with leaders in the faith: Seminary professors, preachers, Christian publishers, evangelists, etc. All of them should be delivering the message, but they are not. Simple things that should be self-evident to them, patently obvious things, seem to be beyond their ability to comprehend. For whatever reason, they just don’t get it.

Below are a few things that must change:

  1. We must stop referring to our Creator as “God”. He is not God. He is Elohim. God is the name of a pagan deity. He is the god of fortune. His name is also pronounced Gad, Gawd, and Gaud. Calling our Creator “God” is a sacrilege. Try telling that to most preachers and churchgoers and watch how they react. It will surprise you.
  2. Our Creator is Elohim, but that’s a title. His Name is Yahweh, and Yahweh commanded us to declare His Name, not His title, to the world. In the foreword to the NASB 2020, the translators explain that they adhered to “time-honored traditions”. One of those “time-honored traditions” is to remove Yahweh’s Name from the Scriptures completely. It’s as though His Name doesn’t exist. Instead of placing Yahweh’s Name in the Bible where it belongs, the translators of the NASB 2020 substitute “LORD”, “the LORD God”, “the Lord GOD”, and “LORD of armies”. That may be a “time-honored tradition” as they say, but it’s also a sin of the highest magnitude. How can people declare Yahweh’s Name if they don’t even know He has a Name? I should not have to say this to men of the cloth, but sin is not honorable no matter how long you have been doing it. Changes made in the NASB 2020 are trivial compared with changes that should have been made. Yahweh’s Name is of paramount importance for many reasons not the least of which are 1) we have salvation in the Name Yahweh and 2) the Messiah is Yahweh. (See His Name is Yahweh: Revised Edition.) Again, try telling those things to most preachers and churchgoers and watch how they react. Most of them will look at you like you are from another planet. I’m not picking on the translators of the NASB 2020. Virtually every English translation of the Bible has followed that horrendous “time-honored tradition”. It is a truly sad state of affairs, and as I said, leaders in Christendom are responsible for it. They should be ashamed.
  3. Saturday is the Sabbath, not Sunday. That fact matters enough to Yahweh for Him to include specifics about the Sabbath in the Ten Commandments. It’s number 4 on the list. Look it up. It’s the last day of the week, not the first day of the week. I hate it when a preacher responds to that fact by saying something like this: “I am not under the Law.” Oh really? Other things on that list include murder, adultery, lying, and stealing. I guess not being under the Law means that anyone can do anything he wants, and it doesn’t matter. Yahweh doesn’t see it that way. All of us are under the Law, but believers’ sin debts have been paid by the Messiah. Preachers need to understand that obedience and legalism are not synonymous.
  4. The Big Two church events each year are Christmas and Easter. Both of them are pagan holidays. Christmas honors the sun god Sol Invictus, and Easter honors the Babylonian and Assyrian fertility goddess Ishtar. Of course, preachers talk about the Messiah during those services, but the trappings are pagan to the core. It’s like putting lipstick on a pig. Why not obey Yahweh and celebrate Sukkot instead of Christmas and Passover instead of Easter? Yahweh commanded us to celebrate Sukkot and Passover. Ask a typical churchgoer what Sukkot is and watch her reaction. Some preachers will say, “He was talking to Jews.” That’s not true. He was talking to the Children of Israel. Whose tree were Gentiles grafted into?
  5. The Messiah’s Name was not Jesus. The name “Jesus” was made up. At birth, He was given the Name Yeshua, but Yahweh gave Him the Name “Yahweh”. That simple, crucial fact is so well hidden in most English translations of the Bible that most preachers and churchgoers will think you are off your rocker if you tell them. I know, because I’ve been doing it for more than 20 years.

I wonder what would happen if large numbers of believers decided to bite the bullet and obey Yahweh. I think we might finally get the rival we have been hoping and praying for. It would cause nothing short of a revolution in the church.

I can hear typical churchgoers now: “Oh Lord, I just love Sunday and Christmas and Easter and the name Jesus.”

Revolution is exactly what we need in the church.

Much more needs to be said, but this is a good start:

  • “Because this people draw near with their words and honor Me with their lip service, but they remove their hearts far from Me, and their reverence for Me consists of tradition learned by rote, therefore behold, I will once again deal marvelously with this people, wondrously marvelous; and the wisdom of their wise men will perish, and the discernment of their discerning men will be concealed.” (Isaiah 29: 13-14)
  • “Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise, they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.” (Isaiah 6: 10)
  • “Concerning Him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.” (Hebrews 5: 11)

I’m not being unkind. I’m being truthful. Yahweh gave us brains for a reason. Why not use them?

Conclusion

When I hear preachers in the U.S. say that taking God out of our schools was the worst thing we ever did as a nation, I tell them, “I don’t agree. Taking Yahweh’s Name out of the Bible was the worst mistake we ever made, and leaders in Christendom did it.”

If you don’t know who the leaders in Christendom are, look at the pulpit in your church. You will see one of them standing behind it.

We have a lot of work to do, and we can’t wait for preachers and other leaders in Christendom to get onboard. Some of them may never get it. I feel sorry for them, but I refuse to wait for them. They are Yahweh’s problem, not mine.

“I am the good shepherd. I know My sheep and My sheep know Me — just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father — and I lay down My life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also. They too will listen to My voice, and there shall be one flock and one Shepherd. The reason My Father loves Me is that I lay down My life — only to take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from My Father.”

John 10: 14-18
