November 4, 2020 SnyderTalk—Facebook Must Clean Up its Act or Suffer the Consequences

“Seek Yahweh while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him return to Yahweh, and He will have compassion on him. Turn to our Elohim, for He will abundantly pardon.”

Isaiah 55: 6-7

Facebook Must Clean Up its Act or Suffer the Consequences

I’ve just about had it with Facebook. These are my top 5 grievances against the company:

  1. Facebook “fact-checkers” are not fact-checkers. They are propagandists pushing an agenda. I’ve done enough research and writing in my life to know the difference. I have had my Facebook posts flagged at least 10 times. On a couple of occasions, I challenged the flag and won. On the other occasions, I was not allowed to challenge. I don’t know why. That’s unacceptable.
  2. Facebook reminds me of an old maid librarian with no hobbies. She sees her role in life as watching the room to make sure that no one dares to speak. If someone does speak, she gives him the evil eye and a hand-signal to hush. That’s juvenile. This is a free country. Freedom of speech is protected in the constitution. Vigorous debate is essential. Facebook is not the arbiter or right and wrong.
  3. Facebook is run by children or by people who think like children. It is as immature as any organization I have ever seen. The people who work for Facebook must be agenda-driven snowflakes who are desperately afraid that if the truth leaks out, their side will lose. Facebook can’t be allowed to take sides on issues, period.
  4. Facebook can be deadly. For instance, hydroxychloroquine is a drug with a decades-long history of effectiveness. In many cases, it has proven to be an effective treatment for Covid-19. Facebook went out of its way to suppress that fact. There is no telling how many older, infirmed victims of the disease died because of that action.
  5. On Election Day, Facebook would not allow posts dealing with election results that were predictive. At the same time, faux pollsters were allowed to publish their results showing, for example, that President Trump was 17 points down in Wisconsin. That’s absurd.

When I hear someone say that there is consensus on any controversial issue, I know that the person making the statement either doesn’t understand what the word “consensus” means or he is lying or he is stupid.

For example, we now know that Covid-19 is not a serious threat to most people. Those who are threatened appear to be old and/or otherwise seriously infirmed. We also know that mask-wearing has minimal value and may actually hurt the people wearing them if they wear them for extended periods.

Try posting something on Facebook about the efficacy of mask-wearing and watch what happens. Ditto for anything that challenges the so-called “consensus” on climate change or anything that questions any utterance of Dr. Anthony Fauci. That’s ridiculous.

I can’t and I won’t tolerate that kind of behavior. If Congress doesn’t take action to regulate Facebook, I will strongly consider leaving the platform and taking my information with me, every bit or bite of it.

Facebook must clean up its act now or suffer the consequences. Ditto for Twitter and Google.

I don’t often do this, but if you agree with me, I urge you to share this editorial. Facebook is a public company, and public companies must respond to legitimate concerns. If enough Facebook users speak up and take action, the platform will change or shareholders will suffer.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.”

John 17: 22-24
