Covid-19, Politics, and Greed

Yesterday, I was on my morning walk, and I ran into a couple of people who live about a mile from me. They were walking, too.

I have known them for more than 16 years. Both of them are very smart and well-informed.

When we met, we stopped to chat for a few minutes. They told me that one of their neighbors died several weeks ago. I knew who the man was, but I didn’t know him personally. He was a real recluse.

Saying that the guy who died was out of shape is an understatement. To me, he has looked like a dead man walking for years. Several times over the years, I saw him walking his dogs. It was painful to watch.

Most people have either eaten at Golden Corral or they have driven by one. I have seen people at Golden Corral struggling to get out of their cars, because they are so overweight and out of shape. They look like they might die before they reach the front door, but once they get inside, they look like little children on Christmas morning. They load their plates so full of food that it almost spills over the sides and onto the floor, and they go back for seconds and thirds. They load their plates to the brim each time. They are literally eating themselves to death.

The guy who died reminded me of the people at Golden Corral.

Death from Covid-19? Is that a Joke?

The man died on the way to the hospital. Without even testing him, doctors at the hospital attributed his death to Covid-19.

The man’s wife was furious. She said that her husband did not have Covid-19, that he had serious health problems, and that he died from congestive heart failure. That’s what the emergency crew, paramedics, told her when they examined her husband at home.

“Nope,” the doctor at the hospital told her. “He died from Covid-19.”

Again, no test was performed. The doctor just eyeballed it. It looked like Covid-19, and the man’s death certificate says that he died from Covid-19.

Morbid Obesity and Covid-19

I’ve been reading reports about inflated Covid-19 statistics for months, but this is the first time I’ve seen an example of it personally. Based on this situation, I believe the Covid-19 statistics we are hearing about are not even close to being accurate.

Morbid obesity is a serious health problem in America. On any given day, I bet that more than a thousand people in America have been dying from complications associated with obesity for many years. I bet that virtually all of those deaths are being attributed to Covid-19 today.

This SnyderTalk editorial is not a comprehensive analysis of the Covid-19 pandemic. Those reports will be written in the weeks and months ahead, but the purpose of this editorial is to point out that something stinks. I think politics and greed are driving the reporting of Covid-19 statistics.

I don’t believe anything I’m reading, seeing, or hearing. I think hospitals are being paid for reporting Covid-19 positive tests and for deaths from Covid-19, and I think Democrats and the media are hyping Covid-19 selectively to attack President Trump. Therefore, I don’t think we can believe the Covid-19 statistics.
