June 10, 2020 SnyderTalk—Yahweh’s Time is Not Like Our Time

“Seek Yahweh while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him return to Yahweh, and He will have compassion on him. Turn to our Elohim, for He will abundantly pardon.”

Isaiah 55: 6-7

Yahweh’s Time is Not Like Our Time

Albert Einstein said it as well as anybody:

“People like us who believe in physics know that the distinction between past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.”

Einstein is one of the most intelligent people ever to have lived.  His study of physics led him to an inescapable conclusion.  Anyone who has a personal relationship with Yahweh needs to understand it, but it’s contrary to human logic.

To Yahweh, past, present, and future are the same.  He sees them all at once.  To Yahweh, everything is in the present.  Below is an example.

Abraham and The Covenant

In Genesis 15, Yahweh made a covenant with Abraham that every believer depends on for salvation.  This information is tucked away in that chapter:

Now when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, terror and great darkness fell upon him. Elohim said to Abram, “Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, where they will be enslaved and oppressed four hundred years. But I will also judge the nation whom they will serve, and afterward they will come out with many possessions. As for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you will be buried at a good old age. Then in the fourth generation they will return here, for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet complete.” (Genesis 15: 12-16)

After Yahweh made the covenant with Abraham, Isaac was born.  Isaac had 2 sons: Jacob and Esau.  Jacob had 12 sons. Collectively, they are referred to as the Children of Israel, because Yahweh changed Jacob’s name to Israel.

Joseph was one of Jacob’s sons. Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery.  He was taken to Egypt where he eventually became the second most powerful person in the country.  Only Pharaoh had more power in Egypt than Joseph.

In due course, Joseph died.  Later, a Pharaoh who had not known Joseph rose to power in Egypt.  He enslaved the Children of Israel, and they remained slaves for hundreds of years before Yahweh told Moses to lead them out of Egypt and take them to the Promised Land.

Yahweh alluded to all of those things when He made the covenant with Abraham. To Yahweh, everything He said was in the present, but Abraham would be dead and buried for hundreds of years before most of them came to pass.

Mark 12: 24-27

Y’shua answered and said to them, “Are you not therefore mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures nor the power of Elohim? For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. But concerning the dead, that they rise, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the burning bush passage, how Elohim spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Isaac, and the Elohim of Jacob’? He is not the Elohim of the dead, but the Elohim of the living. You are therefore greatly mistaken.” (Mark 12: 24-27)

Abraham is still alive today.

The Faith of Abraham

The Bible says, “Then he [Abraham] believed Yahweh, and He [Yahweh] reckoned it to him [Abraham] as righteousness.” (Genesis 15: 6)

Abraham didn’t just believe Yahweh exists.  He had faith with legs, meaning that when Yahweh told Abraham to do something, he did it. Stated another way, Abraham was obedient.

Abraham knew that Yahweh’s promises extended to future generations through Isaac, but Yahweh told him to sacrifice Isaac on an altar.  He was about to drive a knife into Isaac’s heart, and Yahweh stopped him.  Yahweh was testing Abraham’s faith.

Yahweh tests the faith of all His children. He wants His children to have faith with legs.

Habakkuk said, “The righteous shall live by faith.” (Habakkuk 2: 4) He was talking about faith with legs.  It’s faith in Yahweh that is manifested by obedience.

Yahweh is Always Faithful

Yahweh keeps His promises, but He keeps them in Yahweh Time. Yahweh’s children need to remember that.

Some of Yahweh’s promises are associated with specific dates and times as we understand time, but most of them are not.  Yahweh is always faithful.  His children must be faithful to Him even when we don’t know the exact details.  We need to do what we are told when we are told, and trust Yahweh to take care of the details.

Yahweh’s children must be faithful like Abraham. It’s as simple as that.

I pray…that they may all be one, even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are oneI in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17: 21-24)
