“Liberal Progressives” Don’t Realize How Dangerously Ridiculous They Are

See “Enforcement of [New York] state plastic bag ban delayed until April 1”.

Thankfully, age has some advantages.  I can remember when plastic bags overtook paper bags and passed them by a mile as the bags of choice at grocery stores.

When plastic bags first hit the scene, customers were asked this question by grocery store cashiers: “Paper or plastic?”

I preferred and I still prefer paper.  Today, that’s the increasingly popular choice, but several decades ago, that was a clear sign that I wasn’t with it.

I can remember a time when a young woman was standing behind me in the grocery line, and the cashier asked me “paper or plastic?”

I said, “Paper,” and the young woman behind me read me the Riot Act.

“What are you thinking?” she demanded to know.  “Don’t you know that they have to cut down trees to make paper bags?”

She was so angry with me for choosing paper that her face turned red.  I looked at her and calmly said, “Trees are a renewable resource.  We are planting far more trees than we are cutting down.”

I didn’t make that up.  It’s a fact, but a lot of young women don’t have enough sense to keep their mouths shut.  Not knowing anything doesn’t hinder them at all.  Their attitude seems to be “to hell with the facts.  I have an opinion”.

The young woman threw her nose into the air and turned away from me.  I picked up my bags and walked to my car.

That was in the late-1960s or early-1970s, about 5 decades ago.  Fast forward 50 years, and state-sized globs of plastic trash are floating freely in our oceans.

Who woulda thunk it?  That young woman certainly didn’t.  She was too smart for her own good.  She and people like her are responsible for the mess we’ve gotten ourselves into.

“Liberal progressives” still don’t get it.  They are the problem.

I remember another time when I was in line at the grocery store buying a pint of Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream.  I love it.  I use it in Coke floats, and I love it topped with strawberries.

Another young woman was in front of me in line that day.  She noticed that I was buying only one item, and it was vanilla ice cream.  She gave me a quizzical look, said “vanilla is so bland”, and walked away in a huff.

She was visibly perturbed with me for having the audacity to buy vanilla ice cream, and she wanted me to know it.  I didn’t say anything.  It would have been a waste of my time.

Again, what is it about these young women?

I have a confession to make.  I don’t enjoy being accosted in grocery stores by anyone, especially loudmouthed, young women.  I don’t think I’m alone.  Thankfully, it has happened to me only two times.

What’s Next?

Nobody knows what comes next.  It could be anything, and “liberal progressives” are today’s Brownshirts, the enforcers.  Young women seem to want to lead the charge.  They know what’s best for all us, and they are determined to shove their way of thinking down our throats, even though they are ignorant beyond belief.

Climate change: That’s a biggie.  “Liberal progressives” have all the answers, and if we don’t like what they think or if we believe they are off-the-wall ignorant, they can become violent.  It’s happening right now up and down America’s West Coast.

I won’t go into the details about climate change here.  I wrote a novel in which I laid out the facts.  The title is Stand!  You should read it.

In your face people remind me of people in commercials screaming, “It’s my money and I need it now.”

They want their money, and they want it now.  To hell with the problems they are creating for their children and grandchildren.

Older people are getting on the bandwagon, too.  They are selling their life insurance policies for money in their pockets today.  They are using reverse mortgages to take all the equity out of their homes and trying to spend every cent they have before they die.  When they die, all they will leave behind is unpaid bills.  Anything that has value will have been liquidated.  Their children will suffer the consequences of their foolishness.

“No problem,” they say.  “I’ll be dead.”  How’s that for logic.

That’s the epitome of the “Me First” attitude.  Me, me, me.  Now, now, now.  That attitude is the problem.  It has infected our young people and turned many of them into violent mobs.  Old people are affected, too, but very few of them are violent.

Those are just a few examples of the foolishness that has made its way into mainstream thinking these days.  Everything they say sounds so wonderful until you think about it.

Problem is, they don’t think about it.  They are too busy wanting it now to stop and think.  And worst of all, they think making mega changes is like flicking a light switch.  They have a lot to learn and no interest in learning.  That’s a terrible combination.

All of us are suffering, because we didn’t act a long time ago.  I’ve had enough.

Bernie Backers are the Worst Offenders

Bernie backers are the worst offenders.  They want it now, and they’ve been practicing violent attacks along the West Coast with impunity for years.  When Bernie loses the Democrat nomination in Milwaukee in July, they will be out in force.

Real trouble is brewing.  At this point, I don’t think it can be prevented.

Young women in particular seem to want to get in your face.  I’ve watched videos of young women blocking the paths of old people who were simply trying to cross the street to attend a Trump rally.  When the old people attempted to walk around them, the female provocateurs moved to block their path again.

I hope and pray that never happens to me.  After I have tried to walk past a loudmouthed female (or a male for that matter) a couple of times and she (or he) moves to block my path each time, I will push may way through her (or him).  I’m sure someone will have a video of it.  Katie will probably be with me.  If she is, I’ll ask her to pull out her phone and take a video.

If an altercation ensues, so be it.  I’ll be happy to go before a jury of my peers with Katie’s video evidence in hand.

We Brought This on Ourselves by Failing to Act

I’m telling you this so you can think about what your reaction will be when people act that way toward you.  I hope it never happens, but it will happen to a lot of people.

I’ve had enough.  I hope you’ve had enough, too.

We’ve let this kind of foolishness go on for far too long.  It’s time to nip it in the bud.

I doubt we will have too many of those kinds of problems in South Carolina.  We have concealed weapons permits in the Palmetto State.  People have guns, and they know how to use them.  If things turn violent, there will be repercussions.

My strategy is to avoid places where those kinds of altercations might occur.  Trying to avoid trouble is the right thing to do, but trouble can’t always be avoided.  I’m talking about those situations.

I hope I’ve made this clear, but I’ll say it bluntly to be sure.  If that ever happens to me, I plan to be gender and age neutral.  It’s the right thing to do.

The Christian Attitude

Some people will say, “That’s not a Christian attitude.”  The ones who annoy me most are people who follow that up with this quote that they attribute to Mahatma Gandhi: “I like your Christ, but I don’t like your Christians.”

Gandhi didn’t say that.  The Indian philosopher Bara Dada did.  This is what Dada actually said: “Jesus is ideal and wonderful, but you Christians, you are not like him.”

I don’t bother to tell them that they got the quote wrong.  Arguing with fools is a waste of time and energy.  I do my best to avoid them.  If they were ready to listen, they wouldn’t be acting the way they do.  If I ever sense that they are ready to listen, I will talk with them.

Most so-called “liberal progressives” don’t know Yahweh, and they don’t know what Gandhi said, either.

It’s funny how people who know nothing about walking with Yahweh always think they know exactly what Christians should say and do.  I guess they have never heard about Samson or David or Elijah.

There comes a time when fighting back is the right thing to do.  The time to act arrived a long time ago, but we didn’t act.  Now, we are suffering the consequences.
