Turkish President Erdogan is a Snake in the Grass
See “Turkey accuses Trump of jeopardizing long-standing ties”.
Turkey’s President Erdogan says that President Trump is “jeopardizing long-standing ties” by imposing sanctions on Turkey for arresting a U.S. citizen and holding him in prison for years without cause.
That’s absurd. If Barack Obama and George W. Bush had been up to the task of leading our country, Turkey would not be a member of NATO because of the things Erdogan has done over the years.
For example, while ISIS was growing and slaughtering across Syria, Erdogan funded ISIS operations by purchasing the oil that ISIS stole.
Here’s another example. During a visit by Erdogan to Washington, a group of protesters formed outside the Turkish embassy where he was staying. When he drove up in his motorcade, they started chanting. This is America. That’s what happens here.
Erdogan ordered his security people to walk across the street and beat the living daylights out of the protesters. They did it. We have video evidence of Erdogan giving the order to attack.
That’s a crime. Erdogan’s security personnel should be in a U.S. prison today. Erdogan should be facing a trial in the U.S. to determine if he should ever be allowed to enter the U.S. again.
There are many more examples. Here’s another one. Erdogan engineered the MV Mavi Marmara incident to force Israel to defend her naval blockade of Gaza. It resulted in several deaths and many injuries.
Israel has every right to protect herself. The Gaza blockade is in place because Hamas imports weapons with which to attack Israel. That’s common knowledge. Several boats in the MV Mavi Marmara flotilla were carrying weapons.
Erdogan wants to the viewed as the modern-day Saladin. He wants to return to the glory days of the Ottoman Empire with him as sultan. He thinks that currying favor with Hamas will help him in that regard.
Erdogan is delusional. No country in the Middle East wants Turkey to have any more influence in the region than is required. That’s because Arab leaders, not Israeli leaders, know their history well. They know what life was like inside the Ottoman Empire. Arab leaders want no part of anything like that again.
Erdogan is a snake in the grass. He’s a duplicitous liar with grandiose ambitions and no scruples.
The sanctions on Turkey that President Trump imposed were a shot across the bow. If Erdogan doesn’t get it, he’s an idiot.
That said, I love the Turkish people that I know. They are some of the finest people I have ever met. I feel sorry for them, because they have a sorry excuse for a human being as a president. He’s brutalizing his own people right now.
Turkey is a beautiful country. I want to go back, but I won’t until Erdogan is history.
