The North Korea Summit

President Trump’s long-awaited and much discussed summit with North Korea’s Chairman Kim Jong-un ended successfully today, but much work remains to be done.  It was the first leg of a long journey that won’t be completed until all the i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed.

When the summit ended, Kim Jong-un agreed to complete denuclearization and President Trump offered North Korea security guarantees.  See “Trump, Kim sign agreement after historic summit but few specifics”.

The proof is in the pudding, but it’s a good start.

According to CNN, “Trump’s North Korean gamble ends with ‘special bond’ with Kim”.

In typical kneejerk fashion, the Chicago Tribune put a “liberal progressive” political spin on it: “Trump’s North Korea summit sure to be a glorious triumph — if you support Trump”.

The Guardian said that “realism should trump hope.”  That’s correct.  As I said, the proof is in the pudding, but the journey has begun.  President Trump deserves a lot of credit for getting things started, but he’s not wearing blinders or earplugs.

President Trump is no Neville Chamberlain.

The day before the summit began, Iranian leaders urged Kim Jong-un to be “vigilant”.  Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Behram Qassemi said, “We still look at Trump and the US behavior with pessimism and we cannot be optimistic about the US behavior.”

Iran has a lot to lose if President Trump succeeds.  North Korea more than any other country has been supplying Iran with nuclear and missile technology.  That day is rapidly coming to an end.

Making matters worse for the mullahs in Tehran, Russia is showing Iran the door out of Syria and Arab countries in the Middle East are joining forces with Israel to contain Iranian aggression.  For the mullahs, it’s a nightmare come true.  For the rest of the world, it’s a dream come true.

In America

President Trump is changing the world for the good.  At home and abroad, his policies are taking effect and lifting hopes.  At home in the U.S., his “liberal progressive” critics are going nuts.

Robert De Niro is a perfect example.  Michelle Malkin called him out on Facebook.  As she said, “Thank you, Robert De Niro, for showing the world how ugly, unhinged, boorish, and boring Hollywood has become.”

I think the tide is turning in the U.S. That’s why “liberal progressives” are going berserk.  If we do our jobs in November, they will get the lesson of their lives.  Don’t take anything for granted.  Each one of us must do our part.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17: 22-24)
