Yasser Arafat’s Legacy and President Trump’s Decision to Move the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem

Yasser Arafat wrote the game plan for the Palestinian Authority and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).  It’s very specific, and it remains unchanged to this day.  That game plan is Arafat’s legacy.

It’s impossible to understand what’s taking place in Israel right now without knowing what Arafat said he wanted to accomplish.  Below are 5 Arafat quotes that lay out the PA’s and the PLO’s essential purpose, their raison d’être or “reason for being”:

  1. “Peace for us means the destruction of Israel. We are preparing for an all-out war, a war which will last for generations.”
  2. “We plan to eliminate the state of Israel and establish a purely Palestinian state. We will make life unbearable for Jews by psychological warfare and population explosion. We Palestinians will take over everything, including all of Jerusalem.”
  3. “The victory march will continue until the Palestinian flag flies in Jerusalem and in all of Palestine.”
  4. “The Israelis are mistaken if they think we do not have an alternative to negotiations. By Allah I swear they are wrong. The Palestinian people are prepared to sacrifice the last boy and the last girl so that the Palestinian flag will be flown over the walls, the churches and the mosques of Jerusalem.”
  5. “Since we cannot defeat Israel in war, we do this in stages. We take any and every territory that we can of Palestine, and establish a sovereignty there, and we use it as a springboard to take more. When the time comes, we can get the Arab nations to join us for the final blow against Israel.”

In a nutshell, Arafat wanted to destroy Israel completely and establish a purely Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.  Arafat was willing to sacrifice everything including the lives of Palestinian children to achieve his goals, and he understood that it would take generations to bring his plan to fruition.  In the end, Arafat believed that the Palestinian cause would unite Arab Muslims first and then Muslims from around the world behind an overarching goal of Islamizing the world.

That may sound far-fetched, but it’s not.  It’s what is actually happening.  As I said, you can’t understand what is taking place in Israel today unless you understand Arafat’s game plan.

See “Palestinians: The “Ugly Crime” of a School Curriculum”:

  • A recent study of Palestinian textbooks found that Palestinian children are being taught to glorify and value terrorism and violence. The Palestinian Authority and its Minister of Education, Sabri Saidam, want Arab schools in Jerusalem to teach the students why Muslims should be killing Jews.
  • “Within the pages of the textbooks, children are being taught to be expendable. Messages such as: ‘The Volcano of My Revenge’; ‘The Longing of my Blood for my Land’; and ‘I Shall Sacrifice My Blood to Saturate the Land’ suffuse the [Palestinian] curriculum. Math books use numbers of dead martyrs to teach arithmetic. The vision of an Arab Palestine includes the entirety of what is now Israel, defined as the ‘1948 Occupied Territories.'”
  • How come the Arab citizens of Israel have never complained about the Israeli educational system? The answer is because they evidently like the education that Israel has been offering them. It teaches them to value life, freedom of speech and democracy, and Arab Israelis admire it. They love the education Israel offers them because it does not demonize any race or group of people. They love it because it does not teach them to kill Jews, but to live with them in peace and security. This is the truth that the Palestinian Authority does not want to hear. This is the truth that it does not want the rest of the world to hear.
Enter Donald Trump

President Trump’s decision to move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is a frontal assault on the cornerstone of Arafat’s plan.  It’s the first time since Arafat laid out his vision that any world leader has openly challenged it.

No one should expect Arafat’s followers to give up without a fight after having devoted their lives to Arafat’s cause.  That ain’t gonna happen.

See “Palestinian Religious Leader Threatens ‘Disasters’ of Holy War if US Moves Embassy”:

The Palestinian Authority’s (PA) Grand Mufti warned that the US’ embassy move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem will lead to “disasters of wars” in the entire world, as it is perceived as an “attack” on all Muslims.

The official PA daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida reported Monday that the Mufti, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein who also serves as the Mufti of Jerusalem, asserted that the transfer of the American embassy to Jerusalem “will not be an attack on the Palestinians alone, but rather a blatant attack on the Arabs and Muslims throughout the world, …and that it will not serve peace and security in the region, but rather bring upon it disasters of wars, anarchy, and instability.”

He further directly encouraged Palestinians and Muslims to use violence and “seek Martyrdom,” stating that they will “sacrifice all that is dear to them.”

The Grand Mufti, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, wasn’t just flapping his gums.  He was telling us what will begin happening in a few weeks.  Palestinians are making plans right now to counter the U.S. embassy move in May.  It will involve violence.  You can count on it.

See “Palestinians Call for Closure of U.S. Mission”:

At a demonstration outside America House in the West Bank city of Ramallah, scores of Palestinians on Wednesday called for the expulsion of American diplomats as well as the closure of the U.S. mission in protest against President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Mustafa Barghouthi, a member of the PLO Central Council, said the continued operation of the mission is “unacceptable.” He also said, “We reject any American peace solution or proposal.”

See “PA President Abbas Calls for Jihad”:

PA President Mahmoud Abbas’ speech at Al-Azhar University in Cairo on Jan. 17was a blatant call for religious war against Israel. Abbas quoted from the Quran’s Surah Al-Isra (The Night Journey), which contains the Prophet Muhammad’s vision of the destruction of Israel and Jewish Jerusalem and Islam’s impending conquest of the city.

According to Abbas, Jerusalem is holy only to Islam and Christianity and time is coming to an end for Israel the usurper. Abbas called upon the Islamic nation to help in the struggle to “liberate Jerusalem, the eternal capital of Palestine, from the hands of the occupier.” Abbas linked the Palestinians to the Canaanites and Jebusites who inhabited this land over 5,000 years ago to prove that the Palestinians preceded the people of Israel – while ignoring the Quran which says that the land was promised to the Israelites.

What did Yahweh say?

In Zechariah 12, Yahweh explained where we are heading.  He didn’t give us a timeline, and I’m not suggesting one.  Below is what Yahweh told Zechariah:

The burden of the word of Yahweh concerning Israel.  Thus declares Yahweh who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him, “Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes reeling to all the peoples around; and when the siege is against Jerusalem, it will also be against Judah.  It will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it. In that day,” declares Yahweh, “I will strike every horse with bewilderment and his rider with madness. But I will watch over the house of Judah, while I strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, ‘A strong support for us are the inhabitants of Jerusalem through Yahweh Sabaoth, their Elohim.’”

“In that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot among pieces of wood and a flaming torch among sheaves, so they will consume on the right hand and on the left all the surrounding peoples, while the inhabitants of Jerusalem again dwell on their own sites in Jerusalem. Yahweh also will save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem will not be magnified above Judah. In that day Yahweh will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the one who is feeble among them in that day will be like David, and the house of David will be like Elohim, like the angel of Yahweh before them. And in that day I will set about to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.”

“I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn. In that day there will be great mourning in Jerusalem, like the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the plain of Megiddo. The land will mourn, every family by itself; the family of the house of David by itself and their wives by themselves; the family of the house of Nathan by itself and their wives by themselves; the family of the house of Levi by itself and their wives by themselves; the family of the Shimeites by itself and their wives by themselves; all the families that remain, every family by itself and their wives by themselves.”

Yahweh told Jeremiah what comes next:

“Therefore behold, days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when it will no longer be said, ‘As Yahweh lives, who brought up the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt,’ but, ‘As Yahweh lives, who brought up the sons of Israel from the land of the north and from all the countries where He had banished them.’ For I will restore them to their own land which I gave to their fathers.”

“Behold, I am going to send for many fishermen,” declares Yahweh, “and they will fish for them; and afterwards I will send for many hunters, and they will hunt them from every mountain and every hill and from the clefts of the rocks. For My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their iniquity concealed from My eyes. I will first doubly repay their iniquity and their sin, because they have polluted My land; they have filled My inheritance with the carcasses of their detestable idols and with their abominations.”

O Yahweh, my strength and my stronghold, and my refuge in the day of distress, to You the nations will come from the ends of the earth and say, “Our fathers have inherited nothing but falsehood, futility and things of no profit.”

Can man make gods for himself? Yet they are not gods!

“Therefore behold, I am going to make them know—this time I will make them know My power and My might; and they shall know that My name is Yahweh.” Jeremiah 16: 14-21

Despite the Apparent Danger, Jerusalem is a Safe Haven

Katie and I plan to move to Jerusalem.  The timing of our move is entirely in Yahweh’s hands.  When He is ready, I will know, because the fleece has been laid out already.  There will be no doubt in my mind when the time is right.

Many years ago, I think it was in 1998 or 1999, Katie and I took Melanie and Rebekah to Israel.  We stayed in a hotel on Yafo Street in Jerusalem.  While were we unloading our belongings from the sherut, someone stole my camera case that I had placed on the sidewalk beside me.

It was an expensive camera with several lenses, filters, and other things.  I was angry when I realized that it was gone, because I wanted to take some great pictures.  In my heart, I said, “Yahweh, I’m not coming to back to Jerusalem until You tell me that I have to.”

Yahweh has spoken to me many times.  Most of the time, it’s long after I have asked Him a question or said something to Him, but this time His response was instantaneous.  He said, “You can come to Jerusalem any time you want.”

He meant business, and I knew it.

Since that day, I have looked at Jerusalem as my home.  Eventually, it will be my home.

Members of my family who know what I plan to do fear for Katie and me, because they read about all the terrible things that happen in Jerusalem.  They need to understand that we will okay.  Yahweh will make certain that nothing happens to us except things that He wants to happen.

I won’t let the fear of what might happen keep me from doing the things I know I must do.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17: 22-24)
