The Alegemeiner—Pro-Israel Group Holds Memorial for Victims of Palestinian Terrorist Rasmea Odeh, Speaking at Left-Wing Jewish Organization’s National Conference in Chicago:

Activists held an interfaith memorial service for the victims of a female Palestinian terrorist, scheduled to coincide with her speech before a gathering of an anti-Israel Jewish organization, one of the organizers told The Algemeiner on Sunday.

Peggy Shapiro, Midwest director of Israel education group Stand With Us (SWU), said that she rented out a private suite at Chicago’s Hyatt Hotel to hold the event during convicted terrorist Rasmea Odeh’s appearance at the closing plenary session of the Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) National Member Meeting (NMM) at the same venue, because Shapiro believed JVP’s “unconscionable” decision to “honor the killer and erase the victims” could not go uncontested.

“It really can’t get any worse than honoring a murderer, alongside other speakers who are proponents of more genocide,” she said, referring to the panelists featured with Odeh, including Linda Sarsour, who has called Zionism a form of racism.

In the JVP NMM program, Odeh and Sarsour are touted as among “the most dynamic, powerful, and visionary community and faith leaders of our time.”

Shapiro said her program was held in a guest room, because JVP directed the Hyatt to refuse to rent space to SWU at the hotel’s large convention center. The service featured religious exercises led by local rabbis and pastors, and letters from the families of Odeh’s victims, Leon Kanner and Edward Joffe, read by SWU representatives.

“I’m a really strong proponent of free speech, even stupid speech, even hate speech. So, we aren’t using JVP’s tactics; we didn’t disturb their event, and shout down their speakers, like they do to ours,” Shapiro said. “We are respectful and mature, and we are calmly responding to something just so inherently wrong.”

SnyderTalk Comment:

When I read about or talk to Jewish people who believe Israel shouldn’t exist, at first I’m surprised and then I’m angry.

I’m angry because next to the Messiah’s birth the rebirth of Israel after almost 2,000 years of non-existence is arguably the most visible and dramatic fulfillment of prophecy ever.  People who are familiar with the Bible, even those who aren’t too bright, should be able to see it.  Those who don’t see it have a serious problem with Yahweh.

When Jewish people who don’t believe Israel should exist honor Israel’s avowed enemies as a goodwill gesture, I’m perplexed.  That’s not just stupid.  It’s evil.

On several occasions in Jerusalem, I’ve talked with people like that.  I always ask them what they know about Balaam and about hell.  In every instance, they have told me that they don’t believe in hell.  They say that hell is not part of their religion as if that settles the matter.

Religious beliefs have nothing to do with it, and besides, religious beliefs can be wrong. One day everybody will believe in hell.  Some of those people will be there.  Imagine the expression on their faces then.

Israel’s rebirth was more than just the creation of the new State of Israel.  It was the fulfillment of one of Yahweh’s promises, an essential one.  Standing against Israel is standing against Yahweh.

No sane person should ever want to get between Yahweh and the fulfillment of His promises.

People who stand against Israel should take some comfort in knowing that hell will be loaded with people who didn’t take Yahweh seriously.  That will be all the comfort they have.

“If My people who are called by My Name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7: 14)

Change that Yahweh calls “good” begins in the hearts of believers—people who are recognizable because they are different.

We are different because we belong to Him and are called by His Name.  We are Yahweh’s people, His followers.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17: 22-24)
