Steve Apfel—When Jews find common cause with movements that hate Jews:

A thousand rabbis sign a petition to bring refugees from Jew hating backgrounds into America. Communal bodies kept liquid by Jewish money embrace groups that exclude Jews of the wrong type. Jewish leftists fill a BDS event to hear the Holocaust confused with thriving self-governing Palestinians.

The counter-intuitive Jewish mind is an ancient marvel. Who knows that better than the Almighty. In one breath the Jews are warned against carving graven images, next they are instructed to carve graven images for a tabernacle that will contain the Almighty. It must be in the Jewish DNA to be contrariwise.

Are the rabbis and communal bodies and BDS clique being contrary? Is there smart logic buried in their paradoxical ways, if one could only figure and ferret out their logic? The Jews that find common cause with anti-Semitic movements – do they know something we don’t?  Are we the dumbos?

More important than what they know, the answer may lie in what contrary Jews feel. More than anything a Jew likes to feel that she or he is a notch above the norm. “Never underestimate the power of feeling good about yourself,” writes a critic of rabbinic support for bringing refugees into America. “It feels very good for these Jews to say: ‘Look, world, you abandoned us in the 1930s, but we’re better than you.

Or it may be that motive which bigots love to hate: Jewish capital. Communal leaders follow the money; and the money follows recognition. Enthusiasm for donor dollars may go a long way to explain the attraction of voguish causes: refugees, Black Lives Matter, Transgender rights, Islamaphobia, BDS and more. These without exception are movements where no love is lost on the Jews and their bitty country. The progressive element is very prone to overlooking this unlovely aspect. In their activism on behalf of a trendy cause, Jews more than join forces with anti-Semites; they defend them, or turn a blind eye. Ally support takes precedence over ally bigotry. It’s the cause that counts. And what recognition, progressives would like to know, will fighting for a Jewish cause bring? Anti-Semitism on campus appears nowhere on the trendy billboard. The mass media won’t give pro-Israel activists a look in.

SnyderTalk Comment:

I have watched this problem with amazement for many years, and I don’t know what to do or say about it.

I’m reminded of something that Yahweh said to Moses: “I have seen this people, and behold, they are an obstinate people.” (Exodus 32: 9)

Anti-Semitism is a serious problem.  When Jewish people join forces with anti-Semites, it is much worse.

Today, it’s socially acceptable to be anti-Israel regardless of the facts.  That is a form of anti-Semitism that Jewish people endorse when they support Democrat candidates for public office.

Switching Gears

See “US ‘Outraged’ by UN Report That Accuses Israel of Establishing ‘Apartheid Regime’ That ‘Dominates the Palestinian People’”.

Team Trump is outraged.  Team Obama was a huge part of the problem in the U.N.

There is a chorus of voices out there that is critical of every move President Trump makes.  Few of the people singing the Democrat tune have a clue who is orchestrating the criticism.

A recent poll found that 31% of Democrats have never heard of Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY).  He’s been around the Washington political scene for decades.  He’s the front man for the Democrat Party nationally and the minority leader in the Senate.  He’s on television every single day, and articles quoting him extensively appear in virtually every newspaper in the country every day.

Even so, almost one third of Democrats have no idea who Chuck Schumer is.  That’s consistent with my experience dealing with run-of-the-mill Democrats.  They are hopelessly ignorant.  When they have something to say, it’s nothing more than talking points that someone gave them.  When asked to expound on an issue that they raise, they have nothing to say because they don’t actually know anything.

Ordinary Democrats are easy prey for the likes of Barack Obama.  He plays them like a puppet master.

Ignorance at this stage of the game is a deadly serious matter.  We can’t let up.  If we do, the ignoramuses will win.

Israel needs help from people who love Yahweh.  Praying always helps, but Yahweh expects us to do more.  Each one of us needs to consider what we can do to provide assistance to Israel, and then we need to take action.

Actions speak louder than words.  That’s not just a cliché.  It’s true.  I like to say it this way: saving faith has legs.

“If My people who are called by My Name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7: 14)

Change that Yahweh calls “good” begins in the hearts of believers—people who are recognizable because they are different.

We are different because we belong to Him and are called by His Name.  We are Yahweh’s people, His followers.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17: 22-24)
