June 17, 2021 SnyderTalk—The Legacy Media in the U.S. Needs a Complete Overhaul

“Seek Yahweh while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him return to Yahweh, and He will have compassion on him. Turn to our Elohim, for He will abundantly pardon.”

Isaiah 55: 6-7

The Legacy Media in the U.S. Needs a Complete Overhaul

Yesterday, I watched CNBC Squawk Box co-anchor Andrew Ross Sorkin interview Tom Friedman of The New York Times. The two of them are comrades in arms at the NYT. In addition to his duties at CNBC, Sorkin is a financial columnist for the Gray Lady. He also founded and edits DealBook, a financial news service published by the NYT.

The interview was conducted just minutes before President Biden was scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Geneva, Switzerland at the G7 summit. Sorkin wanted to know what Friedman would tell Biden if he were advising him on the meeting. In essence, Friedman said that he would tell Biden to convey this message:

There is a new sheriff in town. I’m not like that other guy, Donald Trump. There will be no more adventures in the Crimea or Ukraine and no more shenanigans in gas dealings with Europe and Ukraine.

Then Friedman turned his attention to cybersecurity and cyberattacks, but his emphasis throughout the interview was on making sure that President Putin understands that Joe Biden is not Donald Trump.

Watch the full interview below:

Both Sorkin and Friedman are unquestionably smart, hardworking, and accomplished. Both of them are considered to be among the top journalists in the United States. Both of them have earned reputations for asking hard-hitting questions and for not allowing a person being interviewed to avoid answering questions completely and truthfully.

With those things in mind, consider these facts:

  • On January 7, 2009 Russia stopped gas flows through Ukraine and completely cut off gas supplies to Southeastern Europe which is completely dependent on Russian gas.
  • The Russian invasion of the Crimean Peninsula: February 20, 2014 to March 26, 2014.
  • The Russian invasion of Ukraine: February 20, 2014.
  • Biden started attacking the oil and gas industry in the U.S. in January 2021 immediately after he took the oath of office. As a result, gas prices have in the U.S. have increased dramatically, U.S. oil and gas production has dropped dramatically, and demand for foreign oil globally is way up. Thus, Biden’s oil and gas policies have helped Russia and Iran and hurt the U.S. economically. For Russia and Iran, Joe Biden is a gift that keeps on giving.

As you can see in the video of the interview, Sorkin never asked Friedman if he realized that Russian adventurism in the Crimea and Ukraine and Russia’s dirty dealing in gas flows to Europe took place while Barack Obama was president and Joe Biden was vice president. With a straight face, Friedman kept insisting that Biden should convey the message that he is not Donald Trump. He was lying with impunity.

The establishment media in the U.S., a.k.a. the legacy media, continues to be dishonest to the core and far left of center politically. They spout a narrative that is largely untrue, and no one questions them when they make blatantly false statements. They are doing our country a great disservice.

The legacy media in the U.S. needs a complete overhaul. If journalists can’t police themselves, Congress should do it for them. The 1st Amendment to the Constitution guarantees freedom of the press, but it does not give journalists a license to lie and intentionally distort facts with impunity.

“I am the good shepherd. I know My sheep and My sheep know Me — just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father — and I lay down My life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also. They too will listen to My voice, and there shall be one flock and one Shepherd. The reason My Father loves Me is that I lay down My life — only to take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from My Father.”

John 10: 14-18
