“After these things I heard something like a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven saying, ‘HalleluYah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God; because His judgments are true and righteous; for He has judged the great harlot who was corrupting the earth with her immorality, and He has avenged the blood of His bond-servants on her.’ And a second time they said, ‘HalleluYah! Her smoke rises up forever and ever.’ And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne saying, ‘Amen. HalleluYah!’ And a voice came from the throne, saying, ‘Give praise to our God, all you His bond-servants, you who fear Him, the small and the great.’ Then I heard something like the voice of a great multitude and like the sound of many waters and like the sounds of mighty peals of thunder, saying, ‘HalleluYah! For Yahweh our God, the Almighty, reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.’” (Revelation 19: 1-7)

Scripture of the day:

Isaiah 21: 1-9—“The oracle concerning the wilderness of the sea.  As windstorms in the Negev sweep on, it comes from the wilderness, from a terrifying land.  A harsh vision has been shown to me; the treacherous one still deals treacherously, and the destroyer still destroys.  Go up, Elam, lay siege, Media; I have made an end of all the groaning she has caused.  For this reason my loins are full of anguish; pains have seized me like the pains of a woman in labor.  I am so bewildered I cannot hear, so terrified I cannot see.  My mind reels, horror overwhelms me; the twilight I longed for has been turned for me into trembling.  They set the table, they spread out the cloth, they eat, they drink; rise up, captains, oil the shields, for thus the Lord says to me, ‘Go, station the lookout, let him report what he sees.  When he sees riders, horsemen in pairs, a train of donkeys, a train of camels, let him pay close attention, very close attention.’  Then the lookout called, ‘O Lord, I stand continually by day on the watchtower, and I am stationed every night at my guard post. Now behold, here comes a troop of riders, horsemen in pairs.’  And one said, ‘Fallen, fallen is Babylon; and all the images of her gods are shattered on the ground.’”

HalleluYah!

Four times in Revelation chapter 19 the word “HalleluYah” appears. (Revelation 19: 1, 3, 4, and 6)  Sometimes it’s spelled “Alleluia or Hallelujah,” and sometimes the “Y” is not capitalized.  “HalleluYah” is a combination of two Hebrew words: “hallelu” which means praise and “Yah” which is a short form of the Name “Yahweh” that is found in the Old Testament.

The word “HalleluYah” does not appear in any other place in the New Testament.  This fact is interesting in itself, and the way the word is used in Revelation is revealing.  Revelation chapter 18 talks about the destruction of the “harlot Babylon” at the End of Days, and chapter 19 talks about the second coming of the Messiah:

After this, Yahweh comes to earth in Person to complete His work and to claim His bride.  HalleluYah!  Those who know Him should praise His Name and rejoice because He is about to do wonderful and marvelous things that will surpass the things He did in Egypt at the time of the Exodus.  We do not know the day or the hour, but He will not hold back forever.  To believe otherwise is foolish.
