Upsetting the Applecart: God, Gad, Gaud, Gawd

Several years ago, I spoke to a church in Texas about the importance of the Name Yahweh.  My message was received warmly, but not enthusiastically.

That’s not uncommon.  When churchgoers hear for the first time that our Creator’s Name is Yahweh, many of them wonder how that could be true.  They assume that if it were true, they would have heard it in church from a preacher.

Regrettably, many preachers don’t know the truth.  Many who know the truth won’t tell it because they fear that they might upset their congregations and possibly threaten their livelihoods.  Others are in love with the name Jesus even though His name was never Jesus.

After I delivered my message, Katie and I went to lunch with the preacher and his wife.  He told me that his congregation is loaded with people who believe that the King James Bible is the only inspired translation of Yahweh’s word.

That was a problem.  I began my message by telling the congregation that Yahweh’s Name appears in the Old Testament 6,823 times.  I also said that His Name appears all over the New Testament since the Old Testament is quoted extensively in the New Testament, and many of those quotes include the Name Yahweh.

Then I committed the unpardonable sin in their eyes.  I told them that there are more than 7,000 errors in the English translations of the Bible’s they use.  To them, the unpardonable sin is believing that the King James Bible isn’t error free.  Well, it isn’t.

The Bibles that most Christians rely on including the King James Bible are loaded with errors.  The exclusion of Yahweh’s Name is one of them.  I think that’s the most critical error, but there are many others.  Believers are shocked when they begin to understand that what they have been taught and thought was true was actually wrong.

This is another critical error: the title “God” is derived from the pan-Semitic god of fortune or good luck.  It is spelled several ways: God, Gad, Gaud, Gawd.  They all mean the same thing and all of them refer to a pagan deity.

The trouble begins in Genesis 1: 1:

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

The word that’s translated as “God” in Genesis 1: 1 is Elohim.  Elohim is a plural Hebrew word.

In the first verse of the Bible, we are told that our Creator has more than one form.  As we read on, we discover that our Elohim has three forms.  We call one of them the Holy Spirit.  Actually, it’s Ruach Yahweh.  The Messiah is the human form of Yahweh.  We know that because Jeremiah told us His Name.  It’s Yahweh Tsidkenu or Yahweh our Righteousness. (Jeremiah 23: 5-6)  The other form is the Father.  He’s a Spirit, too, but He is not the One referred to in the Bible as the Ruach Yahweh.

Some people refer to them collectively as “the Trinity” even though the word “Trinity” doesn’t appear in the Bible.  It’s an indisputable fact that the Bible tells us that we have a triune Elohim: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Sound confusing?  Well, it is.  That’s why it’s hard for so many churchgoers to accept the truth.  Many of the things that they have been taught were true are actually wrong.  That’s a hard pill to swallow.

My mission is to tell the world that our Creator’s Name is Yahweh.  Some believers who know more criticize me for not dwelling on the fact the title “God” is incorrect, too, and so is the name “Jesus”.  I tell them that my experience has taught me that people have a hard time accepting one thing at a time.  If I told people everything I know, their heads would be spinning.

It’s time for us to upset the applecart.  Yahweh’s people need to hear the truth.  If their heads begin to spin, so be it.  Yahweh can help them come to grips with reality.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17: 22-24)
