Paris Flooding: Yahweh will not be ignored

Katie’s sister, Natalie, and her daughter, Danielle, came to visit us in Jerusalem.  They made a stopover in Paris for a few days on the way over.  All they could talk about when they arrived was the rain in Paris.  It never stopped while they were there.

Danielle is the person who suggested that I start a blog and call it SnyderTalk.  Below is a picture of Danielle and me at the top of the Mount of Olives.

It’s the worst flooding Paris has seen since the Great Flood of 1910.  To hear the French tell it, it was Biblical proportions.  That’s stretching things a bit, but it’s closer to the truth than most people realize.

Global political leaders were meeting in Paris to discuss the fate of Israel and Palestinians while flooding ravaged the city.  Coincidence?  Not a chance.

It’s happened before.  In October 1991, President George H.W. Bush’s home on Walker’s Point in Kennebunkport, Maine was inundated by 30-foot waves during the Perfect Storm on the very day that Bush’s people were pushing the infamous Two-State Solution at the Madrid Conference of 1991.

That meeting led to the Oslo Accords and a rapid increase in Palestinian terrorist attacks against Israel.

As Isaiah said, “Behold, Yahweh’s hand is not so short that it cannot save; nor is His ear so dull that it cannot hear.” (Isaiah 59: 1)  Yahweh holds us accountable.  That’s what the facts tell us.

The ultimate objective of the Two-State Solution is to divide the Promised Land.  People who think Yahweh is asleep at the switch are deluded.  He never sleeps, and He has promises to fulfill.  Nothing and nobody can stop Him.  Standing in His way is a fool’s errand, yet there is no shortage of people who want to give it a try.

As a backdrop to the Paris meeting, France and the rest of Europe are experiencing unprecedented attacks by Islamist terrorists who are bent on death, mayhem, and Israel’s destruction.  France, in particular, is going through the worst wave of anti-Semitism since the Nazi era.  More than anything else, the French appetite for appeasement is on display.

Again, is that just coincidence?  Not a chance.

The world is heading for a showdown with Yahweh.

Neither Israel nor Palestinians were represented in Paris.  Throughout the meeting, Israeli political leaders repeatedly commented on the foolishness of excluding the people most involved—those who have real skin in the game.

That’s absurd.  In effect, global political leaders want to impose peace.  That has never worked before, and it won’t work this time, either.

According to the Wall Street Journal,

World powers meeting here said on Friday they would develop a package of economic and security incentives in the coming months to push Israel and the Palestinians to make peace, after months of violence that has left officials fearing that the two sides are primed for another full-scale conflict.

Top diplomats from 26 nations, including U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, said they would work to organize an international conference before the end of the year.

France convened the meeting to forge an international strategy for restarting talks, amid fears that the solution to the conflict favored by the international community—an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel—is at risk of becoming unworkable.

“The possibility of two states, Israeli and Palestinian, living side-by-side, in peace and security, grows more distant by the day,” said French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault after the meeting.

After the meeting, Mr. Kerry was cautious about prospects for a conference that includes the Israelis and the Palestinians. “I have no idea yet,” he said when asked whether it would take place. “I think it’s fair to hold open the possibilities.”

He added: “Everybody agreed today you can’t impose a solution from outside.”

Israeli political leaders regard John Kerry as a doofus.  It’s easy to understand why.  If Kerry knows that “you can’t impose a solution from outside”, why is he trying to do it?

Saying that the United States under Barack Obama is two-faced where Israel is concerned is an understatement.  According to Algemeiner,

The State Department is using American taxpayer dollars to finance Palestinian Arabs celebrating violent attacks on Israelis and advocating a boycott of Israel and the division of its capital city.

Where’s the outrage?

Not in the New York Times, which treats the topic as subject for a light-toned feature article about what it describes as a Palestinian “reality television show.”

The show features contestants who “run” for the job of Palestinian president. The Times article reports that “the three finalists all had similar platforms: Boycott Israel. Designate East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.”

Obama may have something even bigger up his sleeve.  Shmuley Boteach calls it a “November surprise for Israel”:

Word is going around diplomatic circles that the Obama administration is planning a November surprise for Israel.

Here’s what is said to be going on:

The Paris peace conference last Friday, to which Israel and the Palestinians were not even invited, will end up exerting enormous pressure on Israel to create a Palestinian state. This renewed pressure will come despite evidence that a Palestinian state in the West Bank will quickly be dominated by genocidal Hamas, which is a threat to Israel and a disaster for the Palestinians.

This will lead, in all likelihood, to a United Nations Security Council Resolution either condemning Israel for not creating that state or for not withdrawing from Judea and Samaria in the West Bank, despite the fact that it would irreversibly compromise Israel’s security.

Now, here is where it gets interesting. Israeli officials and Jewish communal leaders have told me that they expect the Obama administration will not veto the resolution at the UNSC — that Samantha Power, the US Ambassador to the UN, will not exercise the American veto. This would mean that the resolution/condemnation goes through. President Obama will not worry about how this will affect Hillary Clinton, because the UN resolution will be brought after the November election.

Watch out.  November may be a real humdinger, and the next president, whoever it turns out to be, will have more than he/she can handle.

As I said, saying that Obama is two-faced where Israel is concerned is putting it mildly.  I think we are witnessing true evil.  Obama is determined to ignite something that he can’t control and move the U.S. closer to a direct confrontation with Yahweh before he leaves office.  If he stays the course, he will succeed.

Be that as it may, the Israel-Palestinian problem will continue because the solution that world leaders want to impose involves dividing the Promised Land.  That’s something Yahweh will not allow, and there will be consequences.  You can count on it.  That’s the lesson from Paris.

We should have learned the lesson by now, but obviously we haven’t.  This is a spiritual war, and it’s playing out right in front of us.  Most people can’t or won’t see it.  That’s regrettable.

Curiously, there once was a time when Palestine was what we call Israel today.  As the 1923 poster below shows, Jewish people were being urged to come to Palestine to help build the Jewish state.

A lot has changed since then.  In 1948, Israel was recognized as a Jewish state.  In 1964, Yasser Arafat stole the word “Palestinian” and created the Palestine Liberation Organization.  Its primary goal is to destroy Israel.  That aspiration is embedded in the Palestinian charter.

There will be no peace until the Messiah returns.  That day may be closer than most people suspect.

The Messiah is Yahweh. (Jeremiah 23: 5-6)  He will not be ignored.  That was the lesson from the Perfect Storm and it’s the lesson from Paris.

I like the way He summed it up:

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling. Behold, your house is being left to you desolate! For I say to you, from now on you will not see Me until you say, ‘blessed is He who comes in the Name of Yahweh!’” (Matthew 23: 37-39)

The day will come when the people of Israel will realize that they have no hope apart from Yahweh.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17: 22-24)
