Is Yahweh in the News? Absolutely.

Israel’s King David was a prophet.  The Book of Psalms is loaded with his prophetic utterances.  Many of them pertain to the Messiah.

Psalm 2 is one of the most striking Messianic prophecies in the Bible.  It is applicable to the times in which we live.

Psalm 2—A Psalm of David:

1 Why are the nations (i.e., the Gentiles) in an uproar and the peoples devising a vain thing?

2 The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers take counsel together against Yahweh and against His Anointed, saying, 3 “Let us tear their fetters apart and cast away their cords from us!”

4 He who sits in the heavens laughs, Adonai scoffs at them.

5 Then He will speak to them in His anger and terrify them in His fury, saying, 6 “But as for Me, I have installed My King upon Zion, My holy mountain.”

7 “I will surely tell of the decree of Yahweh: He said to Me, ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You. 8 Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, and the very ends of the earth as Your possession. 9 You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.’”

10 Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; take warning, O judges of the earth. 11 Worship Yahweh with reverence and rejoice with trembling. 12 Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, for His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!

David was talking about the Messiah.  In Hebrew, it’s Mashiach (מָשִׁ֫יחַ).  Messiah means Anointed One.

David begins by stating as a fact that the Gentiles are in an uproar and that they are “devising a vain thing”.  The word vain means that it is useless.  They can’t succeed no matter what they do.

In verse 2, David tells us what Gentile rulers are trying to accomplish.  They are taking a stand against Yahweh and His Anointed.

In verse 4, David says that Yahweh laughs and scoffs at them for their futile efforts.

Then in verse 6, Yahweh speaks.  He makes it clear that He has installed His King in Zion.  He refers to Zion as His holy mountain.  He is talking about Mount Moriah.  Today, it is commonly known as the Temple Mount.

Verses 7-9 are a “decree” from Yahweh.  A decree is a judicial ruling with the force of Law:

“He (Yahweh) said to Me (the King/Messiah), ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, and the very ends of the earth as Your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.’”

The Messiah is Yahweh’s designated Ruler.  Nothing can change that.

Verses 10-12 urge Gentile rulers to show discernment and worship Yahweh.  Discernment and worship begin with paying homage to the Messiah.  Failure to comply will be costly:

“Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, for His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!”

The Messiah is the only place of refuge in the universe.  In Him, there is safety and security.  Christians refer to it as salvation.

Apart from the Messiah, there is only death and destruction.  That’s why Yahweh urges all of us to take refuge in Him.

Proverbs 30 mentions the Son, too.  It asks an important question—what is the Son’s Name:

4 “Who has ascended into heaven and descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has wrapped the waters in His garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name or His Son’s name? Surely you know!”

Jeremiah told us the Son’s Name, so it should be obvious:

5“Behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land. 6 In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely; and this is His name by which He will be called, ‘Yahweh our righteousness.’” (Jeremiah 23: 5-6)

The Son’s Name is Yahweh.  He is the Savior.

I said that Psalm 2 is applicable today, and it is.  To see it, all you have to do is read the headlines:

That’s just a sample of recent articles relating to Gentiles’ efforts to thwart Yahweh’s plans for the Promised Land and His chosen people—the Children of Israel, all 12 tribes.  Israel has become the single most important global issue.  Nothing else compares.  Global warming isn’t even a close second.

Consider the facts:

  • Turmoil in the Middle East has become the center of attention for global leaders.
  • So-called “refugees” from Syria are fleeing to Europe and other Western nations because ISIS is on the rampage.
  • ISIS and other Islamists have made clear that they will target Israel.
  • Peace between Israel and Palestinians is seen as the only solution to Islamist violence and extremism.
  • Israel is condemned for refusing to give in to Palestinian demands.
  • Palestinians have made it clear that they won’t be satisfied until Israel is annihilated.

This is the bottom line: we are heading for a showdown between Yahweh and the “rulers of the Gentiles”.  That’s why SnyderTalk focuses on Israel and the Middle East.

SnyderTalk Comment: See “The media had reason to doubt Donald Trump. But let’s not pretend it still does.

A few months ago, I wrote that Donald Trump couldn’t win the GOP nomination.  I was wrong.

Voters are more frustrated than I thought they were.  So am I.

At this point, it’s not stepping out on a limb to say that Trump will win the GOP nomination even though the GOP establishment is opposed to his candidacy.  Is that a good thing?

The positives are that Trump is his own man, and he’s not part of the political class.  They created the conditions that made the mess we’re in inevitable.  He also has lots of real-world experience, and he has been successful.

On the negative side, I don’t know if Trump listens any better than Obama does, and I am not enthusiastic about his moral underpinnings.  Those are serious concerns, especially now.

The way things are shaping up, it looks like Hillary Clinton will be running against Donald Trump for president.  This is my conclusion: I’ll take Trump over Clinton any day, and I won’t refuse to vote for Trump to show my displeasure.  That’s a futile gesture that could lead to a Hillary victory.

The problems that I have with Trump are nothing when compared to the problems that I have with the Democrat Party and everything it stands for.  I call it the Party of Perversity for a reason.  On top of that, Clinton is a crook.  She should be in jail.

1: Michael Armanious—The Key to Combating Radicalization

At breakfast recently in Alexandria, Egypt, I struck up a conversation with my waiter, Sherif. He was 25-years-old; about the same age I was when I left Egypt. He had recently graduated from a tourism and hospitality school, just completed his military service and his whole life was in front of him. He said his dream was to become a chef so he could save enough money to marry and start a family. He was willing to work hard for a good life.

Today, the restaurant where Sherif works pays him around 500 Egyptian pounds (less than $64) a month. He spends most of his wages on bus fare commuting back and forth to work from one of the poorest sections of Alexandria. Tips keep him slightly ahead, but during slow times Sherif is forced to borrow money to cover his bus fare.

To make matters worse, the neighborhood in which he lives is a stronghold of the Salafists (also known as Wahhabis), an ultra-conservative Sunni Islam religious movement.

2: Jagdish N. Singh—What to Expect in Iran

Humanity seldom seems to learn its lessons. The governments of the world’s leading democracies appear to be suffering from this predicament in their nuclear dealings with the Islamic Republic of Iran. To avoid catastrophe, democracies need quickly to correct their course.

One of the fatal blunders of Western democracies is their repeated commitment to appeasing and delaying action against aggressive regimes. Between the two World Wars, despite plenty of evidence of the widely-declared global racist agenda of Germany’s Adolf Hitler, democratic powers waited to take action until it was too late. Hitler was able to carry out a genocide that continues to haunt many nations.

Today, Western democratic governments, with their Eastern counterparts such as India, seem on a similar course in dealing with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

3: Soeren Kern—Germany: Migrant Crime Skyrockets

Migrants committed 208,344 crimes in 2015, according to a confidential police report that was leaked to the German newspaper, Bild. This figure represents an 80% increase over 2014 and works out to around 570 crimes committed by migrants every day, or 23 crimes each hour, between January and December 2015.

The actual number of migrant crimes is far higher, however, because the report, produced by the Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt, BKA), includes only crimes that have been solved (aufgeklärten Straftaten). According to Statista, the German statistics agency, on average only around half of all crimes committed in Germany in any given year are solved (Aufklärungsquote). This implies that the actual number of crimes committed by migrants in 2015 may exceed 400,000.

SnyderTalk Comment: It is not compassionate for political leaders to impose terrorists, murderers, and rapists on their citizens.  In fact, it’s just the opposite.

See “The New Danger To Europe Isn’t ISIS. It’s Assad’s Thugs.

4: Amir Tibon—Is the U.S. Supporting Mass Extermination In Syria?:

It’s midnight and the temperature is close to zero in Presevo, a small town on the border between Serbia and Macedonia. A thousand people are standing in the snow, waiting patiently and silently to go through a security check. Many of them are holding small children in their arms, trying desperately to keep them warm. Others are supporting older relatives who can hardly stay awake, as the line slowly moves forward. Some are pushing a family member in a wheelchair. The most unfortunate of them have to do all three things at once. There are no photographers or television crews around—the people in this line are not “newsworthy,” so long as they don’t make any trouble. A thousand just like them arrived here yesterday. A thousand more will arrive tomorrow.

Yet these people are the beating heart of what policymakers these days bluntly refer to as “the European refugee crisis.” They are running—oftentimes literally—out of Syria and Iraq, two countries that no longer exist, except in outdated maps and lousy diplomatic negotiations. Last month, I had the opportunity to speak with more than 70 of them at a transit camp, located halfway into their journey from the collapsing Middle East to Western Europe. It takes almost a month to complete their exodus—walking into Turkey from Syria, taking vans and broken buses across the Anatolian Plateau, sailing on small boats into Greece, and finally riding overcrowded night trains through central Europe until reaching Almania, the Arabic name for Germany.

5: Hadar Sela—BBC World Service Erases Israeli Victims From News Reports on Terror Attacks:

The BBC News website’s coverage of four separate attacks perpetrated by Palestinians on February 14 was marred by the inclusion of unverified reports, unnecessarily qualified statements, and superfluous punctuation.

Such issues were not, however, confined to that specific BBC platform; unnecessary use of the word “allegedly” to describe the actions of the Palestinian attackers was to be found in BBC World Service news bulletins on the same day.

SnyderTalk Comment: Clever tactics can’t conceal the truth.  Yahweh is not confused.

6: Washington PostHitler’s ‘Mein Kampf’ is now a best-seller in Germany:

Reprinting Hitler’s autobiography “Mein Kampf” (My Struggle) was long prohibited in Germany — a country that considered the book too dangerous to be read.

Now, it’s a German best-seller.

An annotated version currently ranks second in nonfiction on the German weekly Der Spiegel‘s bestseller list, which is considered an authority in German literature circles.

It’s almost certainly not because of anything German bookstores are doing: In fact, most had virtually hidden the book from customers, according to a BBC report in January. Some had refrained from advertising it, while others ordered only a single copy. But online sales picked up, and in-store sales soon followed.

7: Douglas Murray—Britain’s New Mainstream Racists?

The British Labour party is currently led by a man, Jeremy Corbyn, who has described Hamas and Hezbollah as “friends” and has spent his years in the political wilderness with Holocaust deniers, anti-Semites, terrorist-sympathisers and all manner of other undesirables. Now that he is the Leader of Her Majesty’s Opposition, he has tried to present himself as a more moderate force by stressing that he has spent his life fighting racism and anti-Semitism. In fact, he appears to have spent his life being remarkably content with exponents of both.

His Shadow Chancellor spent the same period in similar company, but with an even more fervent devotion to the terrorists of the Irish Republican Army.

8: Mohshin Habib—The Moral Cost of Appeasing Iran

Right after signing the Iran nuclear deal with itself — Iran still has not signed it, and even if it did, the deal would not be legally binding — members of the P5+1 (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) have been showing their eagerness to establish improved relations with their imaginary partner.

Last month, after the lifting of international sanctions, Iran’s president, Hassan Rouhani, went on a five-day trip to Italy and France.

Officials from the host countries were so enthusiastic to welcome the Iranian president, it was as if they were unaware of Iran’s multiple violations of The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) — which Iran did sign in 1968. They also seemed unaware of Iran’s expansion into Syria, Lebanon and Yemen, as well as Iran’s continuing role in sponsoring global terrorism.
