Getting Tough on Terrorists doesn’t mean Coddling Them

Reuters ran an article that suggests German Chancellor Angela Merkel is getting tough on terrorists in Germany who are posing as “refugees”.  I don’t buy it.  Nothing she said indicates that she has any idea how serious the situation is:

Migrants who commit crimes should lose their right to asylum, German chancellor Angela Merkel said on Saturday, toughening her tone as crowds gathered in Cologne angered by mass assaults on women on New Year’s Eve.

Nearly two dozen asylum seekers were among those suspected of carrying out the attacks, police said this week, heightening tensions over immigration and fuelling criticism of Merkel’s refusal to place a limit on the numbers of migrants entering the country.

“The right to asylum can be lost if someone is convicted on probation or jailed,” Merkel said after a meeting of the leadership of her Christian Democrats (CDU) party.

“Serial offenders who repeatedly rob or repeatedly affront women must feel the full force of the law,” Merkel told journalists in Mainz, promising a reduction over the longer term in the flow of migrants to Germany.

Under German law, asylum seekers are typically only deported if they have been sentenced to at least three years in prison, and providing their lives are not at risk at home.

About 1,700 police officers were on the streets of Cologne as protesters, including members of the anti-Islam PEGIDA movement, waited for official permission to march through the city.

If “refugees” endanger the lives of German people, what difference does it make that their lives may be in danger back home?  That’s where they belong.

German policy should be simple and easy to understand: if you commit a crime and survive, you are out.  If you engage in terrorist activity, you are dead.

Coddling terrorists doesn’t work.  They are at war with us.  Pretending that they aren’t won’t change a thing.

The video below provides a glimpse of what we are up against.  It’s time to stop pretending that it’s not Islam vs. the world.

It is Islam vs. the world, and make no mistake about it, Islamists are the only real Muslims.  Those “ordinary peaceful Muslims” that we hear so much about aren’t real Muslims.

See “New ATF guidance on gun sales is legally meaningless (or else it would be unlawful)” by Jonathan H. Adler:

Today the White House announced a series of executive branch actions(not executive orders) that are supposed to reduce the threat of gun violence. Chief among these measures is a new guidance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) concerning when those who sell guns are required to obtain a federal license and perform background checks of prospective gun purchasers. The ATF is also finalizing a regulation that would prevent prospective gun purchasers from avoiding background checks by acquiring guns through a trust or corporation, but this is a separate measure.

[…]

Taken at face value, the new ATF guidance is thus nothing more than a restatement of existing legal requirements. Put another way, it merely identifies those who are already subject to the relevant federal requirements and does not in any way expand the universe of those gun sellers who are required to obtain a license and perform background checks. In other words, it is — as the document says — a guidance, and not a substantive rule. It has no legal effect.

[…]

A third potential reason for issuing a guidance of this sort is political: to respond to the political demand for action. Issuing a guidance document with substantial fanfare is a way to create the impression of action and satisfy relevant constituencies. To the typical, rationally ignorant voter, it may appear that the administration is doing something significant. (And insofar as Republicans complain and caterwaul about the administration’s actions, this purpose is more fully achieved.)

Jonathan H. Adler teaches courses in constitutional, administrative, and environmental law at the Case Western University School of Law, where he is the inaugural Johan Verheij Memorial Professor of Law and Director of the Center for Business Law and Regulation.

Amazing.  President Obama didn’t do a thing except hold a press conference and cry for the cameras.

I think the third reason offered by Adler is the correct one.  He’s getting political pressure, so he did something.  It was meaningless, but it was something.

Typical Obama.

Ingrid Carlqvist—Sweden: “Have the Taliban Come to Town?”: In Sweden it is illegal to engage in sex with children under the age of 15. It is considered as rape, even if it is consensual. But that apparently did not stop a Middle Eastern man, while living in the country, from impregnating his 14-year-old wife. Instead of prison, the husband, as well as the girl’s parents, have all been rewarded with the permanent residency status. This story was exposed on December 1 by blogger Merit Wager, who regularly publishes stories leaked to her by Immigration Service employees. Wager’s source wrote: “This means that the public prosecutor, the police and the Immigration Service have all disregarded that the ‘husband’ is guilty of a crime which carries a minimum penalty of two years in prison. So, it is fine for grown men to have sex with 13-year-olds in Sweden without any kind of legal ramification? Equality before the law? No way. What kind of signal does it send to other people in a similar situation, or those planning on bringing a child bride here from their own country? Clearly, Swedish law applies only to Swedes.”

Karoun Demirjian—Dems, frustrated with Obama on Iran, float new sanctions proposals: Democrats in Congress are losing patience with the Obama administration for failing to respond quickly enough to Iran’s test of a ballistic missile. So frustrated, in fact, that some lawmakers are introducing legislation to ensure the next time Iran violates U.S. or international sanctions in any way, they don’t have to wait on Obama to act.

CNNU.S. Arrests Two Palestinians on Terror Charges: U.S. federal authorities arrested two Palestinians born in Iraq and living as refugees in the U.S. on terror-related charges, the U.S. Justice Department said Thursday. Both are accused of lying to immigration officials about their ties to terrorist organizations. Omar Faraj Saeed al-Hardan, 24, of Houston, is charged with attempting to provide material support to ISIS. Aws Mohammed Younis al-Jayab, 23, of Sacramento, is charged with making a false statement involving international terrorism.

Times of IsraelNew “Intifada” Has Limited Appeal among Palestinians: At the moment, the Palestinian public is not thrilled by the current “intifada.” The large refugee camps (Jenin, Deheishe, Askar, Balata), which drove the first and second intifadas, are refusing to join the third. They generally view the latest violence as a passing event, destined to fail, which is not really connected to them. In the eyes of many of the camps’ residents, the events of the past three months belong to the urban Palestinians, the “Facebook children.”

Times of IsraelHow Not to Help Palestinian Children: I have a knitted children’s doll of a masked Palestinian with a rock in his raised hand, sitting on my desk. Last month, Israel intercepted four thousand of these dolls in Haifa port, bound for the Palestinian Authority. The dolls encourage Palestinian children to throw rocks at Israelis. Incitement to violence is commonplace in the Palestinian territories and amounts to psychological abuse of children. Quite perversely, the PA nurtures an environment where children learn that attacking Israelis is somehow a noble cause. Palestinian youths grow up in streets bearing the names of Palestinian killers, and attend football stadia named after terrorist murderers. As many as 25 schools have been named after Palestinian terrorists who murdered Israeli civilians.

Jerusalem PostBDS: A Weapon of Islamic Warfare: Arab and Muslim leaders publicly declare the same goals as BDS activists: to eliminate Israel as a non-Muslim entity from lands that “belong” to Islam. The Palestinian issue is an Islamic issue because, according to Islamic law, once a territory is captured by Muslims, it remains Muslim forever. Spain, for example, was captured in 712 and remained under Muslim rule until 1492. From a Muslim point of view, Spain will remain Islamic territory forever and will ultimately be ruled by Muslims.

Jewish Political Studies ReviewHaj Amin al-Husseini, the Nazis and the Holocaust: The Origins, Nature and Aftereffects of Collaboration: While Haj Amin al-Husseini, the former Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, did not have an impact on Hitler’s decisions to murder the Jews of Europe, after his presence in Berlin from 1941 to 1945 Husseini left a legacy of anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism that remains an enduring element of Palestinian and Arab politics. He played a central role in shaping the political tradition of Islamism by offering an interpretation of the religion of Islam as intrinsically anti-Semitic and anti-Zionist and in connecting that version to the anti-Semitic conspiracy theories of modern European history.

International Business TimesWith Turkey-Israel Reconciliation Looming, Egypt Fears Turkish Influence In Gaza Strip: Following years of tense relations, Israel and Turkey are inching toward an apparent agreement that could result in normalized relations. The primary stumbling block to reuniting the important Middle Eastern economic powers, however, has revolved around the Gaza Strip, which Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan would like to see opened to the world — or at least to Turkish aid agencies. But as a deal nears, Turkey’s top regional rival, Egypt, has expressed worry to Israeli officials over Ankara’s potential reach into the region, Haaretz reported Thursday.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
