Guns are not the problem

The time has finally come.  It’s the day that Obama has been waiting for for 7 years.  He’s tackling gun violence.

I have no problem with discussing violent crime and terrorism.  They deserve a lot of attention.

Obama has reduced both issues to gun control, and he has bypassed Congress in the process.  He is wrong on both counts.

Guns are not responsible for violent crime.  Violent criminals are.

Guns are not responsible for terrorism.  Violent terrorists are.

Criminals and terrorists use guns, knives, hammers, bombs, fists, and whatever they can get their hands on to ply their trade.  Obama has ignored the real problems, and taking Congress out of the loop isn’t just unpresidential, it’s un-American.

Congress should confront Obama and Democrats head on.  They have given the finger to the Constitution and have dared them and us to do something about it.

See “7 stories you should read to really understand the Islamic State”.

People who can’t grasp the connection between radical Islam’s global agenda and our 2nd Amendment rights are dangerous.  Their fetish for gun control belies the facts and is insane given the circumstances.  They may be book smart, but they are hopelessly ignorant.  The Party of Perversity is loaded with them.

In addition to the terrorist threat we face, our nation is approaching the tipping point on government overreach across a wide array of issues.  The FDA, the BLM, FEMA, the ATF, the EPA, the IRS, and a host of other regulatory agencies have made life difficult, and they have gone around Congress to do it by Obama’s design.

Anger is building, and vigilantes are engaged in community organizing of a dangerous kind.  These developments have consequences.  The day may come when we need for protection the guns and accessories that Obama is trying to restrict.

If Obama was serious, he would address the real problems.  Trouble is he isn’t serious.  Giving him one inch of ground on 2nd Amendment rights to make him feel good about himself makes no sense.

I’m a lot less concerned about Obama’s legacy as president than I am about the safety and security of my family.

See “3 things Obama’s plan will do on guns and 3 things it won’t”.

Who knows what Obama will actually try to do in the next 12 months?  Nobody does, but I do know this: he’s proven many times that he can’t be trusted.

Also, see “Barack Obama’s emotional evolution on gun control”.

Some say that Obama is “emotional” where guns are concerned.  I say that he’s irrational or insane.  I prefer the latter.  Ignoring the real problems because of a gun fixation is insane.

There is more evidence of Obama’s tendency toward delusion.  Jeremiah Wright said that he converted Obama to Christianity.  I’ll ignore the fact that Wright’s version of Christianity is suspect, so bear with me.

Wright said that he led Obama to Christianity in such a way that the president didn’t have to renounce his faith in the god of Islam.  That’s not possible.

I wasn’t there, so I don’t know what happened.  This much I do know: you can tell a tree by its fruit.  Obama’s fruit is rotten, and he’s no Christian.

See “Is Obama’s executive action on guns legal? Let’s break it down.

We may never know if Obama’s actions are legal or illegal because Congress hasn’t demonstrated the fortitude to take him on.  It won’t matter if we elect Trump or Cruz in November.  Both of them have promised to undo the damage Obama has done with executive orders.

Funny thing about Constitutional rights: we won’t miss them until they are gone.

See “Small-Bore? President Obama’s Actions on Guns Make Marginal Changes”.

“Marginal changes”?  Hardly.

By leaving unclear who can sell guns, Obama has created a huge problem.  Gun owners trade guns all the time.  Their preferences change and their likes and dislikes change.  If they buy a gun and can’t sell it, that means they must create an inventory of weapons.  Few want to do that unless they are collectors, and even collectors trade guns.

Obama knew exactly what he was doing.  Now we are learning something that leaders in Israel and Saudi Arabia have known for years.  Obama can’t be trusted.

Democrats are in lockstep with Obama, Mrs. Clinton in particular.

Finally, see “Obama: US needs ‘sense of urgency’ to fight gun violence”.

I watched the president’s speech.  It was a rousing fire and brimstone political speech.  No matter what Obama says, there remains this regrettable reality: Obama can’t be trusted.  He’s a good talker, but he says one thing and does another.

Remember: “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor, period!”

Even when I agree with Obama, I harbor doubts because his moral compass is broken and he’s a liar.  Even so, he said one thing during his speech that I agree with wholeheartedly: we need to remember this come election time.

CNNIran’s Rouhani: Saudi Arabia can’t ‘cover its crime by severing political relations’: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani slammed Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, saying Riyadh can’t cover its crime by severing political relations with Tehran, Iran’s official Press TV news service reported. The escalating tensions between the Middle East neighbors began with the execution of a Shiite cleric by the Saudis, which led to an attack against the Saudi Embassy in Tehran. The development comes as Kuwait became the latest country to side with Saudi Arabia.

SnyderTalk Comment: Yesterday, I took Katie, Melanie, and Rebekah to lunch in Greenville.  It was a birthday lunch for Katie and Rebekah.

We went to an Iranian restaurant.  Toward the end of our meal, the owner came to our table, thanked us for coming, and asked if we enjoyed the meal.  We did.

I asked him where he was from.  He said, “I’m from Iran.  I’m Persian.”

I said, “What do you think of Khamenei?”

He leaned over and whispered in my ear, “He’s a piece of shit.”

I laughed as he walked away, but he turned around and came back.  He whispered in my ear again, “Saudi Arabia is the problem.”

It was obvious that the man wasn’t a real Muslim.  We had a bottle of wine during lunch.  A real Muslim restaurant wouldn’t serve wine.  He’s open on Fridays.  Real Muslim restaurants aren’t open on Fridays.  ISIS types would execute him for those offenses.  I mean that literally.

Islamist types in Hamas open fire with automatic weapons on wedding ceremonies in Gaza if there is singing and dancing.  That’s a fact.

The restaurant owner is in the U.S. because he wanted to escape that kind of nonsense. Even so, he couldn’t resist the impulse to blame the problem between Iran and Saudi Arabia on the Sunni-Shia divide.  It’s part of his culture.

Remember: Islamist types are the only real Muslims because they are the only ones who take the Quran seriously.

Saying that you are a Muslim while you reject the Quran means that you are not really a Muslim.

I keep pointing this out because many those “ordinary peaceful Muslims” that we keep hearing so much about will become our brothers and sisters in Yahweh before it’s over.  Yahweh will draw them to Himself.  That’s what He does.

Caroline Glick—Obama’s constitutional overreach…and Israel: It is far from clear why senior Obama administration officials told The Wall Street Journal that under President Barack Obama, the National Security Agency has been aggressively spying not only on Israeli officials but on US citizens and lawmakers who communicate with Israeli officials. Perhaps they were trying to make Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu look like a fool. After all, the article concludes that the NSA intercepts of these communications “revealed one surprise.” “Mr. Netanyahu and some of his allies voiced confidence they could win enough votes” in Congress to scuttle Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran. Ha ha. What dummies.

Khaled Abu Toameh—Palestinian Leaders Promise a New Year of Violence and Death: After failing to offer their people any hope for the future, Fatah and Hamas are now telling Palestinians that they should expect more violence and bloodshed during in 2016. In separate messages to the Palestinians on New Year’s Eve, the two rival Palestinian parties pledged to pursue, and even step up, “resistance” attacks against Israel. Needless to say, the messages did not make any reference to peace, coexistence or tolerance. Instead of wishing Palestinians a happy and prosperous New Year, both Fatah and Hamas are asking their people in the Gaza Strip and West Bank to prepare for increased violence and “resistance” attacks against Israel.

Ladane Nasseri—Who was the cleric Saudis executed—and why his death matters: Saudi Arabia on Saturday executed 47 men convicted of terrorism-related offenses and political activism, including a prominent Shiite cleric critical of the kingdom’s Sunni rulers. The execution of Nimr al-Nimr triggered international condemnation, with the harshest reaction coming from regional adversary Iran, where hardliners stormed the Saudi embassy in Tehran and set the building on fire. Saudi authorities said the execution was a judicial matter.

Washington PostMideast tensions soar as Saudi Arabia rallies countries to cut ties with Iran: The Middle East slid dangerously closer to regional conflict on Monday after Saudi Arabia rallied its Sunni allies to sever diplomatic ties with Iran, prompting alarmed appeals for restraint from powers across the globe. Bahrain and Sudan joined Saudi Arabia in cutting off relations with Iran, and the United Arab Emirates, a key Iranian trading partner, recalled its ambassador from Tehran, as the fallout from the execution of a prominent Shiite cleric in Saudi Arabia on Saturday heightened sectarian tensions across the Middle East.

BloombergSaudi Executions That Riled Iran Intended as Domestic Message: After a year of domestic attacks that left dozens dead, and with the economy hurting from the oil slump and a prolonged war in Yemen, the rulers of the world’s biggest oil exporter may be seeking to show the Saudi public that they’re tough on terrorism and won’t tolerate dissent. A large majority of those executed were Sunni Muslims said to be linked with al-Qaeda and implicated in attacks more than a decade ago, though it was the death of Shiite Muslim cleric Nimr al-Nimr that received the most overseas attention and spurred protesters in Shiite-ruled Iran to set the Saudi embassy on fire.

RTTurkey tipped off German police about NYE terror plot: German authorities were tipped off by Turkey about an impending New Year’s Eve attack planned by Islamic State, reportedly part of a wider plan for simultaneous attacks across Europe.

Wall Street JournalCharlie Hebdo Commemorative Issue Hits Raw Nerve in Anxious France: As France prepared to mark the first anniversary of the deadly terror assaults at a Jewish supermarket and the newsroom of Charlie Hebdo, the satirical newspaper aimed a broadside at one of its favorite targets: God. The cover of the new edition—due on newsstands with a press run of 1 million copies on Wednesday, a day before the grim anniversary—depicts God with a Kalashnikov slung over his back, cloak and beard spattered with blood, under the headline “The killer is still on the run.” The edition touches on raw nerves in France after Islamist gunmen and suicide bombers killed 130 people on the streets of Paris in November.

Daily CallerIsrael Continues Shelling On Lebanese Border After Failed Hezbollah Bombing: For the fourth day in a row Israel has engaged in an artillery bombardment near its northern border with Lebanon. Hezbollah responded Monday by setting off a large bomb on the Israeli-Lebanese border.

The GuardianSunni-Shia sectarianism at root of much of Middle East violence: More than 85% of the world’s 1.5 billion Muslims are Sunni, and the rest are Shia. The two denominations share many of the same fundamental beliefs and practices, and in many places their followers have quietly co-existed for centuries.

BloombergWhat Middle East Tensions Mean for Oil Prices: Saudi Arabia and some of its Gulf allies severed or downgraded ties with Iran in the biggest meltdown in relations between the Middle Eastern powers in almost three decades, raising the specter of deepening conflicts across the volatile region.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
