2nd Amendment Restrictions are Just the Beginning: with a year to go, there is no telling what Obama will do

President Obama let the cat out of the bag.  Next week, he will impose new gun restrictions:

President Obama will meet with Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch on Monday to finalize a set of executive actions on guns that he will unveil next week, according to several individuals briefed on the matter.

White House officials declined to comment on Obama’s plans beyond releasing his weekly radio address on Friday, a day earlier than usual. But according to those familiar with the proposal, who asked for anonymity because it was not yet public, the president will expand new background-check requirements for buyers who purchase weapons from high-volume gun dealers.

The president will also use his executive authority in several other areas, these individuals said, but the overall package has not yet been finalized.

In the radio address, Obama said he was moving unilaterally because Congress had failed to address the growing problem of gun violence.

President Obama didn’t mention why Congress doesn’t want to do what he wants to do.  They face the voters again.  He doesn’t.

Obama is a liar.

In 2008 when he was running for president, Obama said that he opposed same-sex marriage, but he was lying.  He was in favor of it all along, but he couldn’t tell the public the truth and win the election.

Obama’s automaton army will reject my assertion that Obama is a liar and accuse me of being racist for even making that suggestion, but I didn’t say it.  I’m quoting David Axelrod who wrote about it in a book.  It was reported in TIME Magazine in February 2015.

See “Axelrod: Obama Misled Nation When He Opposed Gay Marriage In 2008”.

TIME is not a conservative “rag”.  It’s in the Democrat camp and has been all along.  Even so, this is what TIME reported:

A striking admission of political dishonesty from the keeper of the Obama flame

Barack Obama misled Americans for his own political benefit when he claimed in the 2008 election to oppose same sex marriage for religious reasons, his former political strategist David Axelrod writes in a new book, Believer: My Forty Years in Politics.

“I’m just not very good at bullshitting,” Obama told Axelrod, after an event where he stated his opposition to same-sex marriage, according to the book.

Axelrod writes that he knew Obama was in favor of same-sex marriages during the first presidential campaign, even as Obama publicly said he only supported civil unions, not full marriages. Axelrod also admits to counseling Obama to conceal that position for political reasons. “Opposition to gay marriage was particularly strong in the black church, and as he ran for higher office, he grudgingly accepted the counsel of more pragmatic folks like me, and modified his position to support civil unions rather than marriage, which he would term a ‘sacred union,’ ” Axelrod writes.

Obama was lying about this, too: he’s good at bullshitting.  That’s what he does best.  If you doubt that, just ask anyone in Israel who knows the facts and is willing to talk about them.

Obama has been chomping at the bit to further restrict our 2nd Amendment rights since Day One of his presidency.  He didn’t do it before 2012 because he wanted to win again and serve a second term.  He didn’t do it during the first 3 years of his second term because he would have become ineffective afterwards in his dealings with Congress.  Even most Democrats oppose him on 2nd Amendment restrictions because they want to be re-elected, too.

He chose to make gun restrictions the centerpiece of his final year effort because he can’t run for president again.  He’s doing it by executive order because he knows that he can’t win a battle with Congress on the merits of the case.

The issues in the gun restriction debate aren’t complicated.  They have been discussed repeatedly in SnyderTalk and in other publications.  This is the 800-pound gorilla in the debate: criminals and terrorists can get their hands on guns and ammunition without any difficulty, and they don’t give a damn about the law.

See “Chicago Rings in New Year With First Homicide”.  Chicago has strict gun control laws.  If gun restrictions worked, Chicago would be a safe town, but the Windy City is one of the most dangerous cities in the U.S.

Below are some interesting statistics:

  • If it were a country, New Orleans (with a rate 62.1 gun murders per 100,000 people) would rank second in the world.
  • Detroit‘s gun homicide rate (35.9) is just a bit less than El Salvador (39.9).
  • Baltimore‘s rate (29.7) is not too far off that of Guatemala (34.8).
  • Gun murder in Newark(25.4) and Miami (23.7) is comparable to Colombia (27.1).
  • Washington D.C. (19) has a higher rate of gun homicide than Brazil (18.1).
  • Atlanta‘s rate (17.2) is about the same as South Africa (17).
  • Cleveland (17.4) has a higher rate than the Dominican Republic (16.3).
  • Gun murder in Buffalo (16.5) is similar to Panama (16.2).
  • Houston‘s rate (12.9) is slightly higher than Ecuador’s (12.7).
  • Gun homicide in Chicago (11.6) is similar to Guyana (11.5).
  • Phoenix‘s rate (10.6) is slightly higher than Mexico (10).
  • Los Angeles(9.2) is comparable to the Philippines (8.9).
  • Boston rate (6.2) is higher than Nicaragua (5.9).
  • New York, where gun murders have declined to just four per 100,000, is still higher than Argentina (3).
  • Even the cities with the lowest homicide rates by American standards, like San Jose and Austin, compare to Albania and Cambodia respectively.

The cities mentioned in the bullet points above have something in common.  With one exception, Miami, all of them are run by Democrats who champion gun control restrictions.  The Democrat Party and the things it stands for, laxity in enforcement and openness to perversity of all sorts, are the problems.

Below are 4 interesting comparisons.  Israel is thought to be an unsafe place by many in the U.S.  Jerusalem, in particular, is thought to be unsafe.

What does the data show when Jerusalem is compared with U.S. cities?  Take a look:

Jerusalem compared with Boston:

  • crime index Boston: 41.33, crime index Jerusalem: 26.38
  • safety index Boston: 58.67, safety index Jerusalem: 73.62.

Jerusalem compared with Washington:

  • crime index Washington: 59.65, crime index Jerusalem: 26.38
  • safety index Washington: 40.35, safety index Jerusalem: 73.62.

Jerusalem compared with Dallas:

  • crime index Dallas: 34.74, crime index Jerusalem: 26.38
  • safety index Dallas: 65.26, safety index Jerusalem: 73.62.

Jerusalem compared with Columbia, SC:

  • crime index Columbia: 42.86, crime index Jerusalem: 26.38
  • safety index Columbia: 57.14, safety index Jerusalem: 73.62.

Despite its problems and the widespread publicity that Jerusalem receives, Jerusalem is a safer town than almost any city in the U.S. and it has a lower crime rate than almost any city in the U.S.

Why?

I can give you the answer in a word: Democrats.  We have them, and Israel doesn’t.

I’ll go one step further: Jerusalem’s problems are amplified by Democrats in the U.S. because they always want to interfere and tell Israeli leaders what they should do as if they knew.

It’s time for Democrats to stop talking and start listening.

Any changes that Obama makes to our gun laws will not affect criminals and terrorists in any way whatsoever.  Law-abiding citizens will be the only people hurt by Obama’s unilateral efforts.

Why is Obama hell-bent on further restricting our 2nd Amendment rights?

I’ve heard the arguments.  You have, too.

Some people say that Obama is a liberal progressive, and that’s what they stand for.  Others say that Obama is evil incarnate and that he wants to disarm the American people so they can be subjugated.  Others say that he’s a Muslim and that’s what motivates him.

Since Obama is a liar, we can’t trust him to tell us the truth.  We must guess, but we don’t have to guess about this: there is no telling what Obama will do during his last year in office.  2nd Amendment restrictions are just the beginning.

We need for Congress to take a stand right now.  Since Republicans control both houses of Congress, there is no reason why they can’t, but will they?

Senator Ted Cruz has made clear that he has no confidence in Republican leaders in the Senate.  He’s winning popular support for telling it like it is, but he’s incurring the wrath of the Republican establishment.  Donald Trump is very similar to Senator Cruz in that regard.

2016 is an important year.  It begins today.  Don’t be a benchwarmer.  Get involved.

Israel HayomIDF braces for Islamic State attack on northern border: The Israeli military is preparing for the possibility of a significant terrorist attack by jihadist radicals, including the Islamic State-affiliated Shuhada al-Yarmouk Brigades, on the Israel-Syria border. The army is also on high alert for possible strategic terrorist attacks by other global jihadist groups such as the Nusra Front, which is affiliated with al-Qaida.

SnyderTalk Comment: What does this mean for those who are planning a daytrip to the Golan Heights?  Don’t.

Bassam Tawil—Palestinians: Save Us from the Good-Hearted Westerners!: What can be done with these Americans and Europeans? They always seem pining for a dialogue between the Israelis and the Palestinians that would end in a peace agreement, yet oddly all of them seem aware that the Palestinians have not, in all honestly, met Israel’s most minimal demands: the cessation of incitement (agreed to even under the Oslo accords — and requiring no funding!) and the recognition of Israel as a Jewish State. Many throughout the world still view Israel as potentially the next — and 22nd — Arab state.

Richard Baehr—Will the Jewish vote matter in 2016?: In 2012, U.S. President Barack Obama had a sharper drop-off in support among American Jews for his successful bid for re-election than among any other voting group in the electorate. Obama’s 57% margin among American Jews in 2008 (78% to 21% according to exit polls), dropped to 39% in 2012 (69% to 30%). Also see “Fake Pro-Israel Democrats”.

Soeren Kern—The Islamization of Britain in 2015: Sex Crimes, Jihadimania and “Protection Tax”: The Muslim population of Britain surpassed 3.5 million in 2015 to become around 5.5% of the overall population of 64 million, according to figures extrapolated from a recent study on the growth of the Muslim population in Europe. In real terms, Britain has the third-largest Muslim population in the European Union, after France, then Germany.

Burak Bekdil—Russian Imperialism Meets Illusions of Ottoman Grandeur: In a 2012 speech, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, then foreign minister, predicted that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s days in power were numbered and that he would depart “within months or weeks.” Almost three and a half years have passed, with Assad still in power, and Davutoglu keeps on making one passionate speech after another about the fate of Syria. Turkey’s failure to devise a credible policy on Syria has made the country’s leaders nervous. Both Davutoglu and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have lately resorted to more aggressive, but less convincing, rhetoric on Syria. The new rhetoric features many aspects of a Sunni Islamist thinking blended with illusions of Ottoman grandeur.

George Will: Goodbye to 2015, a year of absurdity and overreach: E.B. White reportedly said “the most beautiful sound in America” is “the tinkle of ice at twilight.” In 2015’s twilight, fortify yourself with something 90 proof as you remember this year in which: We learned that a dismal threshold has been passed. The value of property that police departments seized through civil asset forfeiture — usually without accusing, let alone convicting, the property owners of a crime — exceeded the value of property stolen by nongovernment burglars.

Jay Solomon—U.S. Preparing Fresh Iran Sanctions over Ballistic Missile Program: The U.S. Treasury Department is preparing to impose financial sanctions on nearly a dozen companies and individuals in Iran, Hong Kong and the UAE for their role in developing Iran’s ballistic missile program. Iranian officials have warned the White House that any such financial penalties would be viewed by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a violation of the nuclear accord.

Abdullah al-Hadlaq—Of Thousands of Muslim Deaths, Why Are Only Palestinians “Martyrs”?: The Arab media has become afflicted with stupidity and delusion and has lost its ability to make true distinctions. It considers the victims of battles in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, etc. “casualties,” whereas the Palestinian terrorists killed in Gaza or the West Bank are dubbed “shahids” (martyrs). Thousands of Muslims are killed worldwide every day in wars and internal conflicts, but the defective Arab media does not refer to any one of the casualties by name or the title “shahid.”

Washington PostPope: Now’s the time to end indifference, ‘false neutrality’: Wishing for a year better than 2015, Pope Francis on Friday called for an end to the “arrogance of the powerful” that relegates the weak to the outskirts of society, and to the “false neutrality” toward conflicts, hunger and persecution that triggers exoduses of refugees. In his New Year’s homily, Francis emphasized the need to “let ourselves be reborn, to overcome the indifference which blocks solidarity, and to leave behind the false neutrality which prevents sharing.”

RTRise of ISIS, Russia not so isolated, EU migrant crisis: Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), the terrorist organization that spread chaos and horror in both the Middle East and Europe, made it into the headlines more often than others terror groups last year. Not taken seriously in 2014, IS became stronger in 2015, seizing cities in Iraq and Syria and organizing atrocious terrorist attacks, including mass shootings in Paris and the downing of a Russian passenger aircraft in Sinai, among others.

FarsRouhani Orders Speed Up of Iran’s Missile Program in Response to New U.S. Sanctions: Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani on Thursday ordered Defense Minister Gen. Hossein Dehqan to enhance and accelerate development of the country’s missile capability in response to new U.S. sanctions. “As the United States seems to plan to include the names of new individuals and firms in its previous list of cruel sanctions in line with its hostile policies and illegitimate and illegal meddling in the Islamic Republic of Iran’s right to reinvigorate its defense power, the program for the production of the Armed Forces-needed missiles is required to continue more speedily and seriously,” President Rouhani’s written order read.

NPRAs Iran Moves Swiftly On Nuclear Deal, Sanctions Could Go Soon: Iran appears to be racing toward a major milestone in the nuclear agreement reached this summer with six world powers: “implementation day.” It’s a term with no fixed date, but it will be a big deal when it arrives. It’s the day when the United Nations Security Council lifts the financial and banking sanctions against Iran, and more than $100 billion in frozen assets will be freed up. But the day can only happen when international inspectors confirm that Iran has taken a number of steps to shrink and open up its nuclear program. All the signs suggest this is happening faster than many in the West expected.

Fox NewsUpstate NY man charged with plotting New Year’s Eve restaurant attack for ISIS: A New York man was arrested Thursday for allegedly planning to carry out an attack on an upstate New York restaurant on ‘behalf’ of ISIS as part of his plan to join the terror organization overseas. Emanuel L. Lutchman, a 25-year-old U.S. citizen and self-professed Muslim convert who lives in Rochester, was charged with attempting to provide material support to ISIS and faces up to 20 years in prison and $250,000 fine, according to the complaint. Lutchman claimed to have been directed by a member of the terror group to attack the restaurant in an effort to join the group, the complaint said.

NewsweekNine Issues That Will Shape the Middle East in 2016: From the battle to retake Mosul to the outcome of the U.S. presidential election, these are the key developments that will change the Middle East in the coming year—for better or worse. 1. Mosul Iraqi forces, supported by U.S.-led coalition air strikes and local Sunni tribesmen, liberated the city of Ramadi from the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) just before the turn of the year. Baghdad and Washington will now turn their focus to Mosul, the city where ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi declared the creation of the Islamic State after it was overrun in June 2014.

Boston GlobeRecruiting mercenaries for Middle East fuels rancor in Colombia: Colombia’s government is frustrated at having its top soldiers lured to the Middle East as mercenaries for Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates when they are still needed to fight insurgents and drug traffickers, Defense Minister Luis Carlos Villegas said.

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite.
