Restoring Judah and Israel
The Messiah told a parable about the Prodigal Son. (Luke 15: 11-32) It’s a story about Yahweh’s love for all of His children and His longing for them to come to Him. This is the essence of the parable:
- A man had two sons. The younger son asked his father for his inheritance so he could indulge in worldly pleasures.
- The father gave his son his inheritance, and the boy left home to lead a life of debauchery.
- Eventually, the boy ran out of money and took a job feeding pigs. He was so poor and hungry that he longed to eat the pods that he fed to the pigs.
- One day the boy came to his senses and remembered what life was like with his father. He realized that his father’s hired men were better off than he was.
- He returned home and asked his father to hire him as a field hand.
- The father was waiting for the boy to return. When he saw his son from a distance he ran to him, embraced him, and kissed him.
- The father killed the fattened calf and threw a big party to celebrate his son’s return.
- When the older son came home, he heard the shouting and asked one of his father’s servants what was going on. The servant explained that his father was celebrating his brother’s return. The older son was so angry that he would not even go into the house.
- The father went outside to talk with his older son and said, “Son, you have always been with me, and all that is mine is yours. But we had to celebrate and rejoice, for this brother of yours was dead and has begun to live, and was lost and has been found.” (Luke 15: 31-32)
In my book What Will You Do with the Rest of Your Life?, I talk about The Prodigal Son. I conclude the discussion with this statement:
The Father is waiting patiently for his wayward children to return to Him, and eventually all of them will return. Our choice is simple. We must decide if we belong to [Yahweh] and if we’re willing to be led by His Spirit. In the end, what we do determines whose we are.
There are many lessons from The Prodigal Son. The most obvious one concerns restoring Judah and Israel.
In the parable, the Messiah was talking about all 12 tribes of Israel. The younger son in the parable is the Ten Lost Tribes. The older son is Judah and Benyamin.
Benyamin had been absorbed by Judah and had lost its distinctive identity as a tribe. Thus, we refer to Judah and Benyamin together as Judah.
Israel went away and lived a life of debauchery. Judah stayed home, but the father never forgot his younger son. In the parable, the father was patiently waiting and watching knowing that one day his son would return.
The entire book of Hosea is about it. Yahweh used Hosea and his wife Gomer to explain what was going to take place. Like Israel, Gomer was a prostitute seeking other lovers/gods. Because of her unfaithfulness, she was the prodigal wife.
In Hosea 1, Yahweh used the names of Hosea’s and Gomer’s children to demonstrate what was going to happen:
- Jezreel, the first son: 2 When Yahweh first spoke through Hosea, Yahweh said to Hosea, “Go, take to yourself a wife of harlotry and have children of harlotry; for the land commits flagrant harlotry, forsaking Yahweh.” 3 So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him a son. 4 And Yahweh said to him, “Name him Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will punish the house of Jehu for the bloodshed of Jezreel, and I will put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel. 5 On that day I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.”
- Lo-ruhamah, a daughter: 6 Then she conceived again and gave birth to a daughter. And Yahweh said to him, “Name her Lo-ruhamah, for I will no longer have compassion on the house of Israel, that I would ever forgive them. 7 But I will have compassion on the house of Judah and deliver them by Yahweh their God, and will not deliver them by bow, sword, battle, horses or horsemen.”
- Lo-ammi, the second son: 8 When she had weaned Lo-ruhamah, she conceived and gave birth to a son. 9 And Yahweh said, “Name him Lo-ammi, for you are not My people and I am not your God. 10 Yet the number of the sons of Israel will be like the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured or numbered; and in the place where it is said to them, “You are not My people,” it will be said to them, “You are the sons of the living God.”
In Isaiah, Yahweh explained that He divorced Israel:
Thus says Yahweh, “Where is the certificate of divorce by which I have sent your mother away? Or to whom of My creditors did I sell you? Behold, you were sold for your iniquities, and for your transgressions your mother was sent away.” (Isaiah 50: 1)
Yahweh used the same symbolism in Jeremiah:
“And I saw that for all the adulteries of faithless Israel, I had sent her away and given her a writ of divorce, yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear; but she went and was a harlot also.” (Jeremiah 3: 8)
As you can see, Judah was far from guiltless, but Judah wasn’t as guilty as Israel. That’s all you can say for Judah.
In Matthew 15, the Messiah explained that He came to restore Israel:
21 The Messiah went away from there, and withdrew into the district of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And a Canaanite woman from that region came out and began to cry out, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is cruelly demon-possessed.” 23 But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and implored Him, saying, “Send her away, because she keeps shouting at us.” 24 But He answered and said, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” 25 But she came and began to bow down before Him, saying, “Lord, help me!” 26 And He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” 27 But she said, “Yes, Lord; but even the dogs feed on the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” 28 Then the Messiah said to her, “O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed at once.
Although He came to restore Israel, He acknowledged that everyone who calls on the Name of Yahweh will be saved/delivered. That’s exactly what Yahweh told Joel. (Joel 2: 32) The Canaanite woman was a great example.
Matthew 23 is about Judah’s rejection of Yahweh. It’s a condemnation of them and their fathers for rejecting Yahweh and His prophets over the centuries. It concludes with a prophecy concerning His return:
37 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling. 38 Behold, your house is being left to you desolate! 39 For I say to you, from now on you will not see Me until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the Name of Yahweh!’”
Today, Judah controls the State of Israel. It’s a small portion of the Promised Land. The Ten Lost Tribes were scattered around the world, just as Yahweh said. They lost touch of their true identity, but because of Yahweh’s leading, many of them are realizing whose they are. They want to return, but they can’t because Judah won’t allow it. Judah is still playing out the role of the older son in the parable of The Prodigal Son.
At this moment, the right of return of “Palestinian refugees” is the topic du jour in Israel, but the right of return of the Ten Lost Tribes is a far more important issue. Rabbis in Israel have demanded and have been given control of immigration. They have done everything in their power to make sure that Israel remains a “Jewish State”. That’s a problem, because the Promised Land never was intended to be a Jewish state.
Yahweh promised the land to the descendants of Abraham through Isaac and Jacob/Israel. That includes all 12 tribes plus everyone who calls on the Name of Yahweh. That is a rock solid interpretation of the Scriptures. It’s undeniable, but it’s ignored by religious and political leaders in Israel today.
One day, Judah will realize that they have no choice. They must and they will obey Yahweh. He explained it in Ezekiel 37:
15 The word of Yahweh came again to me saying, 16 “And you, son of man, take for yourself one stick and write on it, ‘For Judah and for the sons of Israel, his companions’; then take another stick and write on it, ‘For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim and all the house of Israel, his companions.’ 17 Then join them for yourself one to another into one stick, that they may become one in your hand. 18 When the sons of your people speak to you saying, ‘Will you not declare to us what you mean by these?’ 19 say to them, ‘Thus says Adonai Yahweh, “Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel, his companions; and I will put them with it, with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they will be one in My hand.”’ 20 The sticks on which you write will be in your hand before their eyes. 21 Say to them, ‘Thus says Adonai Yahweh, “Behold, I will take the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone, and I will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; 22 and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king will be king for all of them; and they will no longer be two nations and no longer be divided into two kingdoms. 23 They will no longer defile themselves with their idols, or with their detestable things, or with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. And they will be My people, and I will be their God.
I think we are approaching that day. I hope so.

Charlotte Alfred—What You Need To Know About ISIS’s Sinai Affiliate:
Militancy has a long history in the remote Sinai peninsula, which was demilitarized as part of the Israel-Egypt peace deal in 1979. The security vacuum in the area was exacerbated by unrest following the fall of Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak in 2011.
“Sinai is first and foremost a neglected place … where there is distrust between locals and the government, and where the state is inherently weak,” Mokhtar Awwad, a research associate at the Center for American Progress who studies Islamist violence in Egypt, told The WorldPost. These conditions in the Sinai are “asking for terrorists to come and set up shop,” he said.
Michael Mosettig—Between the Middle East and U.S., a growing gulf:
Rarely do gatherings of international policy wonks and officials produce defining or crystallizing moments. More often, jet-lagged participants end a day of talking with a bedraggled retreat to the bar. But with the topic being the Middle East, a two-day forum in this Persian Gulf city found its spark in an exchange between a leading local academic and one of Washington’s more prominent think tankers.
Like much that goes on in this oil producing region that so often seems to flaunt its relatively recent wealth, the conference and its setting reflected the divide between appearances and what people are thinking. In the vast spaces of the Emirates Palace Hotel, a massive edifice of marble hallways rivaling the Pentagon, there was the echo of conference speakers referring to “a dark tunnel of pessimism” and to a Middle East whose main export is refugees. (That reference was one of the rare ones about the hundreds of thousands fleeing Syria and other conflict zones, but to Europe, not to their Arab brethren in the Gulf. There was also scant mention of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.)
Steven Mufson—Obama concedes Mideast peace is beyond his ken:
President Obama has concluded that a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians is beyond reach during his presidency and will press Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to take steps to preserve the mere possibility of a two-state solution, senior administration officials said Thursday.
The issue has taken on greater importance with the recent wave of stabbings carried out by Palestinians against Israelis, senior administration members said during a conference call with reporters about Netanyahu’s visit next week.
They said that the administration has become “realistic” that there might not even be negotiations between Israeli and Palestinian officials before Obama leaves office.
In September, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said his government would no longer consider itself bound by the Oslo peace agreements in effect for two decades, charging that Israel had failed to live up to its obligations.
Rob Malley, the National Security Council’s senior director for the Middle East, said that for the first time in two decades, an American administration “faces the reality” that a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict “is not in the cards for the remainder” of a presidency. That, he said, has “led to a reassessment not only of what we can do but of what the parties can do.”
Jacob Kornbluh—Sen. Ted Cruz Opening Statement on Victims of Iranian and Palestinian Terrorism:
U.S. Senator Ted Cruz called out the Obama administration for failing to acknowledge American victims of Palestinian terrorist attacks as he chaired a hearing for the Subcommittee on Oversight, Agency Action, Federal Rights and Federal Courts on Wednesday.
During the hearing, titled “Justice Forsaken: How the Federal Government Fails the American Victims of Iranian and Palestinian Terrorism,” Cruz and Senator Chris Coons (D-Delaware) drew focus on the federal government’s failure to support the American victims of Iranian and Palestinian terror in their search for justice.
Two terror victims testified before the subcommittee as others were in attendance.
“The history of Palestinian and Iranian terrorism against Americans is extensive and continues to this day. Americans have long been the targets of Palestinian hijackings, suicide bombings, and assassinations, in part because of our nation’s close relationship and friendship with Israel,” Cruz said in his opening remarks. “In litigation, the Administration sides with the terrorist against American citizens, and when negotiating with the Ayatollah Khamenei, the Administration ignores American hostages languishing in Iranian prisons; it ignores the victims of terrorism… That is a national disgrace.”

Michael Peck—A Horrific Thought: Could Russia and Israel Clash in Syria?:
Moscow’s intervention in Syria has put Russian forces on Israel’s doorstep. Though Israel and Russia have set up a hotline to avoid any conflicts, there remains a possibility–however remote–that Israeli and Russian forces may clash.
It won’t be the first time. During the War of Attrition between Israel and Egypt in the early 1970s, Soviet pilots supporting Egypt engaged in dogfights with Israeli jets, only to see the vaunted MiGs blasted out of sky.
This time might be different.
So what might a Russian-Israeli conflict look like? It is actually easier to say what such a conflict would not look like. It would not be a war because there is no reason for war: Russian and Israel do not have territorial designs on each other, neither is out for regime change, and both have nuclear weapons. A Russian war with Israel would inevitably drag in Israel’s big brother, the United States.
Bassam Tawil—Palestinians: A World of Lies, Deception and Fabrications:
- The only astonishing thing is that Abbas and the Palestinian leaders continue to refer to their wave of terrorism and bloodbath as a “peaceful, popular uprising.”
- The terrorists were doubtless inspired by their president’s words. It is this kind of officially-sanctioned rhetoric that encourages young Palestinians to stab the first Jew they see.
- This is not only a mountainous lie; it is an attempt on the part of the Palestinian Authority leadership to deceive the world into believing that Israeli security forces killed these poor innocent terrorists who were merely part of a peaceful protest. These “innocent” Palestinian men and women were “merely” in the process of trying to stab people to death.
- The world in which Abbas and the Palestinian leadership live is a world of lies, fabrications and deception aimed at demonizing Israel and murdering Jews. The goal is not only to murder as many Jews as possible, but also to force Israel to its knees so that it will vanish as soon as possible.
- Welcome to the world of the Palestinians, where we lie and then believe our own lies. And then want the rest of the world to believe them, too.
David Walzer—Why is the EU stigmatizing Israel?:
Many Israelis — both on the right and left of the political spectrum — look in utter astonishment at EU plans to compel European importers and retailers to brand Israeli products from the settlements with newly minted, Israel-specific consumer labeling. And it seems these labels would apply only to Israel, not to other countries or territories embroiled in territorial disputes. It is a step that threatens to reshape our relations, and I fear not for the better.
Europe is Israel’s main partner in trade and business. We are an ally for Europe in the Middle East, a region that now poses some very hard questions for Europe. Most importantly, we share the same humanist aspirations for our countries. This makes us part of the same family, and I hope this allows me to speak openly and honestly.

Raymond Ibrahim—Direct Experience: The One Benefit of Accepting Muslim Migrants:
A silver lining exists in the dust cloud being beat up by the marching feet of millions of Muslim men migrating into the West: those many Europeans and Americans, who could never understand Islam in theory, will now have the opportunity to understand it through direct and personal experience.
Perhaps then they will awaken to reality?
The fact is, most Western people have had very little personal interaction with Muslims. Moreover, because Muslims in the West are still a tiny minority—in the U.S., they are reportedly less than one percent of the population—those few Muslims that Westerners do interact with are often on their best behavior, being surrounded as they are by a sea of infidels (according to the doctrine of taqiyya).
And although there are a few media outlets and websites that document the hard but ugly truths of Islam, these are drowned out by the overarching “Narrative” that emanates from the indoctrination centers of the West (schools, universities, news rooms, Hollywood, political talking heads, et al).
According to the Narrative, there is nothing to fear from Islam. If violence and mayhem seem to follow Muslims wherever they go—not to mention plague the entire Islamic world—that is because Muslims are angry, frustrated, and aggrieved, usually at things the West has done.
Liel Leibovitz—A Conversation With Ayelet Shaked, Israel’s Firebrand Minister of Justice:
Ayelet Shaked is an anomaly in Israeli politics. She’s a successful female politician in a landscape governed almost entirely by the male graduates of the Israel Defense Forces’ elite units. She’s a secular woman who had ascended the ranks of a religious party. And she’s a computer programmer who found herself, after a brief and meteoric rise, as Israel’s minister of justice.
Shaked has used her position and her telegenic presence to promote a host of controversial measures, from advocating to revoke the citizenship of Israeli Arabs convicted of terrorism to scrutinizing left-wing nonprofit organizations that receive large sums of money from European governments to promote causes like BDS. Each of these measures won her precious moments in the limelight—and plenty of criticism. Yet, oddly for a politician, she seems genuinely unmoved by public opinion. She speaks with the same unguarded passion that catapulted her from a tireless grassroots campaigner for right-wing causes—against the biased liberal media, against Israeli artists boycotting the settlements, against the illegal African immigrants who cross the Israeli border in search of shelter and work—to the pinnacle of Israeli politics.
Her candor is real. After having served as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office director between 2006 and 2008, Shaked eventually found it hard to keep her criticism of the Likud party private, choosing instead to abandon her political home and join The Jewish Home, the religious Zionist party led by her friend and political partner Naftali Bennett. Her outspoken opinions and assertive style first won her a seat in the Knesset and, eventually, her own portfolio, not to mention the disdain of many in Israel’s media and academic elites.
Elliott Abrams—Kerry, Rabin, the PLO, and peace:
Marking the anniversary of the death of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin this week, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said this:
“Former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin devoted his life to defending Israel. Today, on this solemn anniversary, we express our profound appreciation for his contribution to the cause of peace. And we honor his vision that would create a better future for both Israelis and the Palestinians: two states living side-by-side in peace and security. … Rabin is gone, but his legacy endures as a challenge and an inspiration to us all. Recent events and violence in the region underscore the urgency of advancing Rabin’s vision: a two-state solution that provides the security for Israelis and Palestinians to live their lives in peace, dignity and prosperity.”
Actually, it is quite uncertain whether Rabin would have pushed forward to the two-state solution under the conditions that existed when he was assassinated, or would today.
Gallia Lindenstrauss—Erdogan’s Successful Gamble, and What Lies Ahead:
The impressive replay in Turkey’s November 1, 2015 elections of the Justice and Development Party’s achievement in the 2011 elections, when the party won almost 50 percent of the votes, reflects the continuing trend of the party’s electoral success, evident since it was founded. The gamble by Erdogan, who undermined the coalition talks following the June 2015 elections and dragged the country into another election round, was successful, and even surprised his supporters. From an internal perspective, along with the advantages of regained political stability, the negative trends of restrictions on freedom of speech and freedom of the press, persecution of opposition groups, and Erdogan’s growing autocratic tendencies are expected to continue. As to relations with the European Union, for the first time in many years, Turkey has a bargaining chip in its deliberations with the EU, given the EU’s need for Turkish help in stemming the flow of refugees into Europe. As for Israel, political stability in Turkey is an essential condition (though not the only one) for progress in rebuilding the bilateral relations.
Adam Taylor—Why ‘Death to America’ won’t go away:
What exactly does “Death to America” mean? In a statement posted to his English-language Twitter account on Tuesday, Iran’s supreme leader explained that his country’s controversial slogan (officially translated as “Down with U.S.”) was not aimed at the United States as a nation. Instead, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei wrote, it was a critique of U.S. policies and “arrogance.”
Understandably, U.S. critics of the Iranian regime have not been reassured. Every Nov. 4, a small crowd of Iranians gather outside the former U.S. embassy in Tehran and celebrate the anniversary of the start of the Iran hostage crisis, in which 52 Americans were held for 444 days in the turbulent aftermath of the Iranian revolution. In what has become an annual expression of visceral anti-American sentiment, local authorities put up anti-U.S. billboards and crowds burn flags and chant “Death to America” near the former embassy.
Even after this summer’s historic nuclear agreement between Iran and six world powers, there seems to be little sign that the slogan’s days are numbered. Worse still, Khamenei’s comments may, in fact, be a sign of resurging anti-Americanism in Iran.

- Western “mainstream media” and academia continued to exonerate Islam in deceptive op-eds, such as the Huffington Post’s “ISIS Violates The Consensus Of Mainstream Islam By Persecuting Christians,” by Qasim Rashid, a recipient of Saudi largesse, by way of Harvard University’s Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Center.
- A 12-year-old girl, raped by an Islamic State fighter, was told that “what he was about to do was not a sin” because she “practiced a religion other than Islam.”
- “In school I only learned about Islam. Parts of our teaching were about destroying Christianity. So we did what we learned, by attacking Christians … Our teachers would tell us every time there was a new church in town and we were told to go and attack the people and destroy the church. So that is what we did.” — Tofik, a former Muslim cleric who converted to Christianity.

SnyderTalk Comment: This map tells the tale. In a nutshell, it tells us that the world has hotter and colder spots. That’s the way it has always been.
Tomorrow’s map won’t look like today’s map because the climate fluctuates. That’s the nature of climate change.
There is one thing that we know, though: on the whole, the world is cooling. That’s what global warming alarmists refuse to admit even though the data proves it.
If this subject interests you, you should read my novel Stand! If it doesn’t interest you, it should.
Right now, the climate is being used by political and religious leaders to bring about the largest transfer of wealth in the history of the world. I would say that it’s from the haves to the have nots, but that’s incorrect.
The climate is being used to reward the friends of the global ruling elite at the expense of those who oppose them and to make the global ruling elite filthy rich in the process. It’s being done in plain view because few people are willing to take the time to do some digging and find the truth
I have a strong hunch that before it’s over, the climate will be used to set up a global governing structure with teeth. By that I mean it will have taxing and policing authority. It will be the one-world government that we have heard about for so many years.
The global government won’t be able to change the climate, but that’s not its goal. Its goal is control of people around the globe.
That’s why Stand! is important. You should read it.

Exodus 28
26 “You shall make two rings of gold and shall place them on the two ends of the breastpiece, on the edge of it, which is toward the inner side of the ephod. 27 You shall make two rings of gold and put them on the bottom of the two shoulder pieces of the ephod, on the front of it close to the place where it is joined, above the skillfully woven band of the ephod. 28 They shall bind the breastpiece by its rings to the rings of the ephod with a blue cord, so that it will be on the skillfully woven band of the ephod, and that the breastpiece will not come loose from the ephod. 29 Aaron shall carry the names of the sons of Israel in the breastpiece of judgment over his heart when he enters the holy place, for a memorial before Yahweh continually. 30 You shall put in the breastpiece of judgment the Urim and the Thummim, and they shall be over Aaron’s heart when he goes in before Yahweh; and Aaron shall carry the judgment of the sons of Israel over his heart before Yahweh continually.”
