T.D. Jakes on “Gay Rights” and “LGBT Churches”—Shocking
An article in Christian News Network titled “T.D. Jakes Comes Out for ‘Gay Rights’ and ‘LGBT Churches,’ Says Position is ‘Evolving’” is disturbing:
Megachurch leader and author T.D. Jakes says that homosexuals should attend congregations that affirm their lifestyle and that politics do not need to reflect biblical ethics, adding that his position on homosexuality is both “evolved and evolving.”
During an interview with the Huffington Post on Monday, Jakes was asked by a viewer if he believes that homosexuals and the black church can co-exist.
“Absolutely… I think it is going to be diverse from church to church. Every church has a different opinion on the issue and every gay person is different,” he replied. “And I think that to speak that the church—the black church, the white church or any kind of church you wanna call it—are all the same, is totally not true.”
Jakes said that he thinks homosexuals should find congregations that affirm their lifestyle.
“LGBT’s of different types and sorts have to find a place of worship that reflects what your views are and what you believe like anyone else,” he outlined.
“The church should have the right to have its own convictions and values; if you don’t like those convictions and values [and] you totally disagree with it, don’t try to change my house, move into your own … and find somebody who gets what you get about faith,” Jakes added.
That’s nonsense.
Paul said, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires.” (2 Timothy 4:3) That’s exactly what Jakes told homosexuals to do if they call themselves Christians.
Yahweh’s word is sound doctrine. Deviating from it to accommodate people who rejoice in sin is evil. Jakes should know that.
Many people today including some preachers are telling us that evil is good. The world is in serious trouble. We don’t need so-called “men of God” with the stature of T.D. Jakes preaching lies.
Think about what Yahweh told Cain:
1 Now the man had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain, and she said, “I have gotten a manchild with the help of Yahweh.” 2 Again, she gave birth to his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of flocks, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. 3 So it came about in the course of time that Cain brought an offering to Yahweh of the fruit of the ground. 4 Abel, on his part also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of their fat portions. And Yahweh had regard for Abel and for his offering; 5 but for Cain and for his offering He had no regard. So Cain became very angry and his countenance fell. 6 Then Yahweh said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? 7 If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.” (Genesis 4: 1-7)
Both Abel and Cain brought offerings to Yahweh. Yahweh accepted Abel’s offering, but He rejected Cain’s offering. Cain was upset, so Yahweh gave him this instruction: “If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.”
Cain rejected Yahweh’s counsel and murdered Abel. Stated another way, he surrendered to sin.
Notice that Yahweh made no attempt to pacify Cain. He simply told him the truth—nothing more and nothing less.
Yahweh told Cain that he had to “master” sin. Resist it; turn away from it. Don’t wallow in it. That was Yahweh’s instruction, and that’s what Jakes should have said.
Yahweh did not tell Cain to find people who believe the same lie that he believes and “worship” with them. Jakes did:
“The church should have the right to have its own convictions and values; if you don’t like those convictions and values [and] you totally disagree with it, don’t try to change my house, move into your own … and find somebody who gets what you get about faith.”
Jakes was promoting his new book. Maybe he was trying to avoid being perceived as negative, being called a homophobe, or being accused of making a politically incorrect comment. I don’t know, but this much he certain: in that interview he said the exact opposite of what Yahweh demands.
As difficult as it is for some people to tell the truth in today’s environment, Yahweh still expects us to stick to sound doctrine especially if we are supposed to be “men of Yahweh”. If high-profile preachers don’t tell the truth, they are charlatans no matter what the world thinks of them.
Yahweh doesn’t buy into political correctness and tickling ears. Look at what Malachi said:
You have wearied Yahweh with your words. Yet you say, “How have we wearied Him?” In that you say, “Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of Yahweh, and He delights in them,” or, “Where is the God of justice?” (Malachi 2: 17)
T.D. Jakes missed the mark completely. Evil is evil. The fact that homosexuals can congregate with people who share their perversity doesn’t change a thing.
Sound doctrine is exactly what they need to hear. That’s what Jakes should have told them.
Yahweh did not make the ultimate sacrifice for our redemption and salvation so that we can wallow in filth. Men and women of Yahweh must know that. As Yahweh said, the others have “wearied” Him.
Now see “T.D. Jakes clarifies his comments on ‘evolving’ on gay rights”:
As gay media cheered the “evolution” of Bishop T.D. Jakes on gay rights, the prominent black pastor issued a statement saying he was “shocked” to be so misinterpreted.
“For the record, I do not endorse same-sex marriage. But I respect the rights that this country affords those that disagree with me,” Mr. Jakes said in a Facebook statement posted around midnight Monday.
He explained that in an Aug. 4 interview on Huff Post Live, he was asked about the “black church” and its role in ministering to gay people.
“I briefly mentioned … the word[s] ‘evolved and evolving’ regarding my approach over the 39 years of my ministry to gay people who choose to come to our services” at The Potter’s House in Dallas,” Mr. Jakes wrote on Facebook.
“I was SHOCKED to read that this was manipulated in a subsequent article to say I endorsed same-sex marriage,” he said. “My position on the subject [of same-sex marriage] has been steadfast and rooted in scripture.”

In his Facebook statement, Mr. Jakes scolded a “so-called Christian publication” that chose to “misconstrue my words using lazy journalistic tactics to further their own agenda and draw attention to their site.”
According to other online articles, the offending article is likely the Aug. 7 article on Christian News Network, that had the headline, “T.D. Jakes Comes Out for ‘Gay Rights’ and ‘LGBT Churches, ‘Says Position is ‘Evolving.’”
Mr. Jakes said in his Facebook statement that “I simply meant that my method is evolving — not my message.”
Meanwhile, in gay media, On Top Magazine, and the popular blog, Towleroad, both offered a Jakes story for their readers.
I read the articles in Christian News Network and the Washington Times. I also watched Jakes’ interview on Huff Post Live, and I am not convinced by his so-called “clarification”. In fact, I’m SHOCKED.
Heather Clark, the author of the article in Christian News Network, did not use “lazy journalistic tactics.” She quoted Jakes precisely. Again, this is what he said:
“The church should have the right to have its own convictions and values; if you don’t like those convictions and values [and] you totally disagree with it, don’t try to change my house, move into your own … and find somebody who gets what you get about faith.”
That’s pure hogwash.
Jakes had the opportunity to deliver an important message at a critical moment and he blew it. He had the opportunity to clarify his comments, but he attacked the person who reported what he said, instead.
Simply telling the truth was all that Jakes needed to do. This issue isn’t even a close call. In fact, it’s a no-brainer.

That is especially true at a moment like this, when the Committee is called on to advise the Senate on a matter of great national importance. I am not presumptuous enough to tell the members of this committee how to vote on the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action); to make that decision you must look at many factors. My testimony does not concern the technical specifications of the agreement, the strength of the inspections regime, or the verifiability of key provisions. My job is to offer the Committee some thoughts about the impact of the agreement on regional politics and to present some concerns that can inform your thinking as you proceed. Mr. Chairman, no agreement stands alone. Ultimately, the JCPOA will be not be judged as a standalone agreement; it will be judged as part of a policy aimed at securing American interests in a vital region at the lowest feasible risk and cost. It would be a mistake to think of this agreement simply in the context of nuclear weapons. It also needs to be examined in the light of important non‐nuclear policy issues in a region of vital importance to the United States. At a time when the Middle East is in its most volatile, unsettled state in a century, and when a sectarian conflict between Shi’a and Sunni Muslims is spreading, this agreement affects the balance of power, relations with our existing allies and perceptions of America’s role in the sectarian conflict. To reach an appropriate decision about this agreement, Mr. Chairman, the United States Senate needs to consider the agreement’s likely impact on important American interests and relationships across the Middle East, and to a lesser extent, elsewhere.
Greg Sheridan: Barack Obama’s road to disaster with a rotten Iran nuclear deal— The presidency of Barack Obama has reached a stage of decomposition akin to that of a spent uranium shell lingering dangerously on an abandoned battlefield. Obama’s presidency is now a deformed caricature of its former self — vaguely recognisable, intensely unattractive, dangerous to be near. I reach this melancholy and unattractive conclusion following Obama’s truly bizarre argument that the only alternative to his capitulation to Iran is war. This is a statement almost clinically deranged. It combines everything that is bad in the Obama presidency: rhetorical overreach, emotional blackmail, supreme arrogance and an almost demented failure to confront reality. Obama’s deal with Iran is the worst possible deal. It will in the long run likely make the Middle East far more unstable. More important, it makes the prospect of the spread of nuclear weapons throughout the Middle East much likelier.
Zipi Israeli and Michal Hatuel-Radoshitzky: Fighting the Boycott: BDS and the Media—The Israeli establishment has described the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions) movement as a strategic threat. Until recently, however, the BDS campaign to boycott Israel for the most part failed to attract the attention of the Israeli media (with the exception of coverage by the dailyHaaretz). This changed in June 2015 when central importance and large scale coverage was repeatedly dedicated to the issue. The advantages of the broad coverage of BDS-related activities appear to outweigh the shortcomings, as demarcating the issue clarifies the challenge facing Israel and underscores the need to deal with it professionally and institutionally. This, in turn, enables the harnessing of the much-needed resources in order to appropriately address the threat. The lack of a comprehensive time-sensitive counter effort to the BDS campaign can have far-reaching repercussions for the State of Israel, its citizens, and Jewish communities worldwide.
Robert Satloff: A “No” Vote on the Iran Nuclear Agreement May Have Limited Practical Impact—The Iran nuclear accord is not a treaty or even an “executive agreement.” It is a voluntary set of understandings that has no status in law. Thus, a resolution to disapprove the Iran agreement may have limited practical impact. It would not override President Obama’s authority to enter into the agreement. Nor would it restrict his authority to participate in most aspects of enforcing the agreement. Indeed, the sole practical implication would be to restrict his authority under law to waive nuclear-related sanctions on Iran. And a resolution of disapproval would have no authority to force him to vigorously enforce such sanctions. The first responsibilities under the deal are Iran’s. These include satisfying the IAEA on the question of “possible military dimensions,” mothballing thousands of centrifuges, shrinking its massive stockpile of low-enriched uranium to 300 kg., and gutting the core of its Arak plutonium reactor. Most experts believe this process will take between six to nine months. Only once the IAEA certifies that Iran has fulfilled those requirements does U.S. and international sanctions relief become an operative issue. Iran is unlikely to respond to congressional disapproval by enriching uranium with reckless abandon and thereby validating the skeptics who never trusted its commitment to a solely peaceful nuclear program. After Tehran has worked for two decades to advance a program that is on the verge of international legitimacy and ending nuclear-related sanctions, it would make little sense to chuck those achievements in a state of pique. To the contrary, Iran is far more likely to fulfill its core requirements so as to earn the termination of UN and EU sanctions that would come with IAEA certification.
SnyderTalk Comment: That’s true, but still we should do our best to stop this deal dead in its tracks.
David Albright: What Iran’s Hostile Reaction to the Parchin Issue Means for the Nuclear Deal—Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that the Institute for Science and International Security was spreading lies when we published satellite imagery that showed renewed activity at the Parchin military site near Tehran. This site is linked by Western intelligence and the IAEA to past work on nuclear weapons. But instead of acknowledging the concern, the Iranians chose to deny the visible evidence in commercial satellite imagery. Zarif is also calling U.S. intelligence officials liars. They are the original source of the information about renewed activity at Parchin and concerns about that activity. It would be irresponsible not to worry about reports that suggest that Iran could be again sanitizing the site to thwart environmental sampling that could reveal past nuclear weapons activities there. This concern is further heightened because Iran has demanded to do this sampling itself instead of letting the IAEA do it. Such an arrangement is unprecedented and risky. U.S. officials have stated that Iran is required to address concerns about its past work on nuclear weapons prior to the lifting of sanctions. However, one could easily conclude that Iran’s recent actions are the start of a reinterpretation of the agreement. The U.S. should clearly and publicly confirm that if Iran does not address concerns about the past military dimensions of its nuclear programs, U.S. sanctions will not be lifted. To do otherwise is to make a mockery of the nuclear deal.
Emily B. Landau: What 29 Top U.S. Scientists Don’t Know—A letter of support for the Iran deal signed by 29 scientists, echoing the talking points of the administration, was recently sent to President Obama. Yet their scientific achievements do not mean that their assessments of the deal are correct. They do not seem to be aware, for example, that the 24-day cap on Iran’s ability to delay an investigation into a facility suspected of supporting clandestine activities could actually be much longer than that. While the scientific aspects are certainly important, that is not where the assessment ends. Rather, there is a need to consider the history of dealing with Iran. Iran has over the years perfected tactics of playing for time, and has made it clear that it will not tolerate inspections at its military sites where suspicions are that it has worked on a military nuclear capability. If pressed on inspections, Iran will most likely continue to evade and play for time, and the deal dangerously provides ample room for Iran to do so.
Ehud Yaari—How Iran Plans to Destroy Israel:
- The Islamic Republic of Iran has been committed for the past 36 years to a doctrine aimed at wiping Israel off the map. Statements to this effect still pour out of Tehran almost daily. President Hassan Rouhani does not refrain from expressing his loyalty to this objective. All rival factions within the regime, and many outside too, agree that the destruction of the Jewish state constitutes an important tenet of their devotion to Islam.
- Iran is engaged in a sustained campaign that started in 1982 with the establishment of Hizbullah and evolved into the creation of Palestinian Islamic Jihad and a military alliance with Hamas. Iran has made sure that missiles provided to its partners can reach every coordinate in Israel.
- In addition, Iran has deployed 400 long-range missiles capable of hitting Israel from two dozen locations in central and western Iran. This would allow the Iranians to fire volleys that compound the challenge to Israel’s Arrow defense batteries. The Islamic Republic’s quest for nuclear weapons offers yet more evidence of its intention to take on Israel at some future date.
- The Iranians are also investing much effort lately to establish a base for operations along parts of the Golan Heights frontier. Under IRGC commanders, Hizbullah is busy recruiting local Druze and others to stir up the Golan frontier by planting IEDs and lobbing occasional mortar shells.
- Iran must be kept away from nuclear weapons and at the same time kept as far as possible from Israel’s borders, if Washington wishes to avoid a direct Iran-Israel confrontation. This requires not only Israeli measures to insulate the West Bank from Iranian penetration and foil attempts to establish a new front on the Golan Heights, but also a determined U.S.-led effort, together with regional allies, to prevent an Iranian victory in Syria and curb Iranian predominance in Iraq.

This problem in Israel is similar to the problem we have in the U.S. with generational welfare dependence. They have been living off their fellow countrymen for so long that they think it is their right/duty. It’s an entitlement, so to speak.
Many of the men claim that they are Torah scholars, but that’s not true. They study what Jewish sages said about the Torah. That difference is huge.
I’ve walked the streets of Mea Shearim. I did it on Shabbat to reduce the risk involved, because they have a reputation for not welcoming guests. By the way, that’s anti-Torah.
As I was walking past families heading to synagogue, I thought, If I speak to one of these men and use Yahweh’s Name, there’s a good chance I will be stoned.
That would have been a very real possibility even though in the Torah Yahweh commanded us to declare His Name to everyone everywhere.
A healthy number of the men I passed on the streets of Mea Shearim hang out around the Kotel/Western Wall during the day on Sunday through Friday asking unsuspecting tourists for money. If you visit Israel as often as I do, that gets tiresome. They have tried to sell me blessings and prayers among other things. It’s disgusting.
If they were really Torah scholars, they would think long and hard about that practice.
I have told my friends in Israel that I doubt many of the religious Jews who are begging for money near the Temple Mount are Levites. I suspect that most of them are simply looking for a free ride.
Those are not anti-Semitic remarks. They are statements of fact.

Exodus 18
17 Moses’ father-in-law said to him, “The thing that you are doing is not good. 18 You will surely wear out, both yourself and these people who are with you, for the task is too heavy for you; you cannot do it alone. 19 Now listen to me: I will give you counsel, and God be with you. You be the people’s representative before God, and you bring the disputes to God, 20 then teach them the statutes and the laws, and make known to them the way in which they are to walk and the work they are to do. 21 Furthermore, you shall select out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and you shall place these over them as leaders of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties and of tens. 22 Let them judge the people at all times; and let it be that every major dispute they will bring to you, but every minor dispute they themselves will judge. So it will be easier for you, and they will bear the burden with you. 23 If you do this thing and God so commands you, then you will be able to endure, and all these people also will go to their place in peace.”

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.
