“Sin is crouching at the door, and its desire is for you.”

As children, Christians learn about Cain and Abel.  The story they are told is simple: Cain killed Abel because he was angry, and he became a wanderer.  They are even told about the “mark of Cain”.

All that is true, but it’s not the whole story.

In Genesis 4, Yahweh gave Cain instructions that he ignored.

Genesis 4:

1 Now the man had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain, and she said, “I have gotten a manchild with the help of Yahweh.” 2 Again, she gave birth to his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of flocks, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. 3 So it came about in the course of time that Cain brought an offering to Yahweh of the fruit of the ground. 4 Abel, on his part also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of their fat portions. And Yahweh had regard for Abel and for his offering; 5 but for Cain and for his offering He had no regard. So Cain became very angry and his countenance fell. 6 Then Yahweh said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? 7 If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.” 8 Cain told Abel his brother. And it came about when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.

Cain was a farmer.  When he reached the age of maturity, Cain brought an offering to Yahweh from his crops.

Abel was a shepherd.  He brought Yahweh an offering from his flocks.

Yahweh accepted Abel’s offering, but he had no regard for Cain’s offering because he brought the wrong thing.

Abel’s offering was a sin offering.  It was an early symbol of the sacrifice that the Messiah would make for the sins of mankind.  As Paul said, “According to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” (Hebrews 9: 22)

Cain’s offering did not accomplish for him what he needed most—forgiveness.  Abel’s offering did.

Cain was angry and distraught.  Eventually, he killed his brother.  This is the instruction that Yahweh gave Cain in pit of his despair—before he committed murder:

“Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.”

In essence, Yahweh told Cain that he should do right.  He needed to master sin rather than allowing it to master him.  If he would do that, Yahweh said that Cain’s attitude would improve.  If he failed to do it, sin would take hold of him and he would suffer.

It’s clear from this short passage of Scripture that Satan was tempting Cain the same way that he tempts us today.  He doesn’t want us to do right, because he knows that if we do, Yahweh will forgive us and bless us.  When we don’t do right, Satan wins and we pay the price.

I’m simplifying, but that’s the gist of the message.

How many of us are hoping and praying that Yahweh will bless us, but we fail to do our part?

What is our part?

Our responsibility is to seek Yahweh’s guidance and obey Him.  If we refuse to do that, then we suffer needlessly.  Again, as Yahweh said, “Sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.”

What is the “mark of Cain”?  It’s discussed in Genesis 4 as well:

9 Then Yahweh said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” And he said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?” 10 He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying to Me from the ground. 11 Now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. 12 When you cultivate the ground, it will no longer yield its strength to you; you will be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth.” 13 Cain said to Yahweh, “My punishment is too great to bear! 14 Behold, You have driven me this day from the face of the ground; and from Your face I will be hidden, and I will be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.” 15 So Yahweh said to him, “Therefore whoever kills Cain, vengeance will be taken on him sevenfold.” And Yahweh appointed a sign for Cain, so that no one finding him would slay him.

It’s not clear what the sign was, but this much is certain: no-one would be allowed to exact vengeance on Cain.  Vengeance is Yahweh’s prerogative. (See Deuteronomy 32: 35)

We serve a merciful Elohim.  He is ready to forgive us.  All we have to do is ask him for forgiveness and obey His instructions.

When we find ourselves complaining that things are not happening the way we think they should, we need to reflect on our lives.  Are we doing the right things?  If the answer is no, then we should change our ways and do right.

Try this.  Make a list of the things in your life that you think may not be right and pray about it.  When Yahweh shows you the answer, change your ways.  It’s that simple.

Cain went his own way, and it cost him dearly.

Below are the words to Hatikva in English:

As long as the Jewish spirit is yearning deep in the heart,

With eyes turned toward the East, looking toward Zion,

Then our hope – the two-thousand-year-old hope – will not be lost:

To be a free people in our land,

The land of Zion and Jerusalem.

HalleluYah!

Caroline Glick: American Jewry’s Moment of Decision—This week in two meetings with prominent American Jews, President Barack Obama threw down the gauntlet. Either the Jews of America will rise to the challenge or they will allow Obama to marginalize them. It is their choice, and now is the time for them to decide. In the first meeting, Obama met with centrist Jewish leaders from major Jewish organizations like the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations, the Anti-Defamation League and AIPAC. Major donors to these groups, like to almost every other major Jewish organization in America, are largely Democrats. According to The Washington Post, the purpose of the meeting was “to defuse antagonism toward [Obama] and to convince [Jewish leaders] that he shares their concerns about the safety of Israel and the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran.” That is, the main goal of the meeting was to silence Jewish criticism of Obama’s deal with Iran. So far, Obama seems to have accomplished that goal.

SnyderTalk Comment: It’s American Christian’s moment of decision, too.

Jim Kuhnhenn: From Loretta Lynch to Iran, Obama’s had enough of the GOP—With a tone of outrage and eye-rolling dismissiveness, President Barack Obama and his White House team are working out their aggressions on Republicans. Well into the final quarter of Obama’s presidency the White House approach is, if you can’t join ’em, beat ’em. Even with a whiff of bipartisanship in the air, the president is going on offense and building on a strategy employed since Democrats lost control of the Senate. Disagree with a Republican? The White House approach is to single a lawmaker out, pick a fight and don’t mince words. In just the past week, the president and his spokesman have targeted Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Republican Sens. John McCain and Charles Grassley, on topics from climate change to the Iran nuclear deal to the delayed confirmation of attorney general nominee Loretta Lynch. This is a White House unleashed, forgoing niceties for the kind of blunt talk some of Obama’s allies have been demanding for some time. But the rhetoric carries risks of sounding peevish and signals that a president who once ran on the promise of changing the tone in Washington has fully embraced its political combat.

SnyderTalk Comment: More importantly, from Benghazi to Israel to Iran to Yemen to Russia to Eric Holder to Van Johnson to Bill Ayers (the list goes on and on), the American people have had it Obama and the Democrat Party.

In Obama’s world, he’s the only one who matters.  His record of mammoth failures is becoming the stuff of legend, but he still believes that he’s the cat’s meow.

He’s deluded at best.

The only way to deal with an irrational president is to turn up the heat and keep it up until the nightmare is over.

Despite his childish temper tantrums and whining, Obama is doing what he has to do.  See “Obama says will sign bill allowing Congress to review Iran deal”.

Obama will continue to do what he has to do as long as the American people don’t let up.  If we ever let up, he will go back to his sinister ways.

Also see “Middle East a major challenge for Hillary Clinton”.

Clinton and Obama are two peas in a pod.  Neither one of them can be trusted under any conditions.  The fact that the Democrat Party loves them is telling.

Agence France-Presse: President Hassan Rouhani Says Iran’s Military Strategy Purely Defensive—Iran’s military is purely for defence and should not be seen as a threat in the Middle East, President Hassan Rouhani said today amid rising tension with Saudi Arabia. With a Saudi-led air campaign against Huthi rebels in Yemen putting Tehran, the region’s dominant Shiite power, at odds with its Sunni rival Riyadh, Russia this week moved to supply missiles to Iran. Saudi Arabia accuses Iran of arming the Huthis, Yemen’s Zaidi Shiite minority which has long complained of marginalisation and has fought several conflicts with central authorities. The arms allegation is denied by Iran, which has presented a four-point peace plan for Yemen to UN chief Ban Ki-moon, demanding international action to end the “senseless” Saudi-led air strikes. Rouhani, whose comments came after renewed intense bombing hit Yemen and Al-Qaeda seized more ground in the chaos, said the Islamic republic’s military policies are wrongly perceived. “Our strategy has always been that of a deterrent… not a doctrine of war,” he said in a speech at an annual Army Day ceremony in the capital where a new Iranian-made Bavar-373 missile was paraded.

SnyderTalk Comment: If Rouhani were Pinocchio, his nose would be very long.  What does he consider Iran’s threat to wipe Israel off the map and the videos showing how they plan to do it?

Joseph Braude: Why Iran Matters to South Korea — and Why South Korea’s Middle East Posture Should Matter to the United States— The controversial Iranian nuclear framework agreement presented on April 2 in Lausanne is being closely watched 6,500 miles east of Tehran, on the Korean peninsula. Beginning in 1994, the rogue state of North Korea broke a series of promises to the international community to submit to nuclear inspectors and disarmament. In 2009, it declared that it had developed a nuclear weapon. As the country most gravely threatened is the democratic Republic of Korea to Pyongyang’s south, I sat down this week with Oh Joon, the country’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and asked for his perspective on Lausanne. Seoul is an increasingly active player in the Middle East. In 2012, a South Korean consortium began to construct four commercial nuclear power reactors in the United Arab Emirates, in a deal approved by the International Atomic Energy Agency and valued at $20 billion. Trade with the broader region has grown rapidly. With respect to Iranian efforts to dominate Arab politics through proxy militias, South Korea has generally sided with Sunni Arab leaderships, and earlier this week conveyed support for the U.N. Security Council resolution banning the export of arms to the pro-Iranian Houthi fighters in Yemen. But the country also doubled its import of Iranian crude oil last month in anticipation of a nuclear deal. Relying almost entirely on foreign oil imports, South Korea is economically disposed to chart a delicate political course between its suppliers in Iran and the Gulf.

Raheel Raza: The Other Face of Terrorism— We live in a country where we embrace liberal democracy, gender equality, freedom of speech and individual freedoms, so we naïvely think that everyone who comes here has the same values. Wrong. Those are the very values that the terrorists abhor. We must be aware that there are organizations and individuals right here in the United States and Canada who have exactly the same ideology as Boko Haram, the Taliban and ISIS. The only difference is these North American organizations are required to follow the law of the land. In many instances, these subversive organizations have succeeded in suppressing free speech by aggressively intimidating academic institutions. This threatening, silencing and censoring is the other face of terrorism.

Ariel Ben Solomon: Can Egypt tackle its terrorism problem?— The Egyptian government led by Abdel Fattah al-Sisi seems to be unable to deal with the growing, non-stop Islamist insurgency on its territory. Almost every day there are reports of army operations against Sinai-based terrorists and/or terrorist attacks against security personnel, government structures or civilian targets. On Tuesday, assailants shot and killed a policeman and wounded two others in Qalyubia Governorate, in the Nile Delta, on Monday, gunmen shot a soldier in Sinai, Aswat Masriya reported, citing Egypt’s state news agency MENA. On Sunday, two bomb attacks targeting security forces in Sinai killed at least 13 people and wounded dozens. A Twitter feed that describes itself as the official account for Sinai Province, a terrorist group that changed its name from Ansar Beit al-Maqdis and pledged allegiance to Islamic State in November, claimed responsibility for the attack.

Abu Yehuda: Putin and Obama destabilize Mideast—The Russian president has repealed the ban prohibiting the delivery of S-300 missile air defense systems to Iran, according to the Kremlin’s press service. The ban was introduced by former President Dmitry Medvedev in 2010. … The decree enters into force upon the president’s signature. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov commented on the decision, saying that Moscow’s voluntary embargo on S-300 deliveries was no longer necessary, due to the progress in Iran’s nuclear talks made in Lausanne on April 2. The S-300 system is considered a game changer. It can track aircraft, cruise or ballistic missiles at a distance of 300 km (185 miles). It can engage up to six targets at the same time. Its mobile launchers can traverse unimproved roads and launch within five minutes of stopping. The capabilities of the S-300 system would make an Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear facilities much more difficult — and possibly costly in lives and aircraft.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
