Caroline Glick—Managing Obama’s war against Israel:
On Wednesday, the Jerusalem Municipality announced it is shelving plans to build 1,500 apartments in the Har Homa neighborhood. Officials gave no explanation for its sudden move. But none was needed.
Obviously the construction of apartments for Jews in Jerusalem was blocked in the hopes of appeasing US President Barack Obama.
But is there any reason to believe he can be appeased? Today the White House is issuing condemnations of Israel faster than the UN.
To determine how to handle what is happening, we need to understand the nature of what is happening.
First we need to understand that the administration’s hostility has little to do with Israel’s actions.
As Max Boot explained Wednesday in The Wall Street Journal, the administration’s animosity toward Israel is a function of Obama’s twin strategic aims, both evident since he entered office: realigning US policy in the Middle East toward Iran and away from its traditional allies Israel and the Sunni Arab states, and ending the US’s strategic alliance with Israel.
Over the past six years we have seen how Obama has consistently, but gradually, taken steps to advance these two goals. Toward Iran, he has demonstrated an unflappable determination to accommodate the terrorism supporting, nuclear proliferating, human rights repressing and empire building mullahs.

SnyderTalk Comment: I think trying to destroy Israel is the extent of Obama’s global agenda. Everything else he does is just window-dressing.
It wouldn’t have mattered who was elected prime minister in Israel. Israel would still be Israel and Obama would still be Obama.
For many years, Bible scholars have known and talked about Iran’s role during the End of Days, but few of them would have guessed that the United States would play a vital part in helping to bring about Iran’s ascendance.
We didn’t do that. Obama did, but we elected him so we are guilty—just as guilty as the Germans who put Hitler in office.

Jonathan Broder: Black Power in Washington—James Clyburn was livid. In February, shortly after learning that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would deliver a speech to Congress, criticizing President Barack Obama’s nuclear diplomacy with Iran, the assistant minority leader joined a small group of senior Democrats for a closed-door meeting in the Capitol building with Yuli Edelstein, the speaker of Israel’s parliament. The boyish-looking Edelstein, a member of the ruling Likud Party, had flown in from Jerusalem to tamp down the furor that erupted over Netanyahu’s planned address. Usually meetings between American lawmakers and Israeli officials on Capitol Hill are chummy. But this one was tense. The Democrats felt it was sheer chutzpah for a foreign leader to use Congress as a soapbox to challenge their president, and they were particularly incensed by the way Netanyahu and Republican leaders had arranged the speech behind Obama’s back. But Clyburn, a long-standing member of the Congressional Black Caucus, went even further, adding an unmistakable racial overtone to Netanyahu’s offense. According to aides, the South Carolina Democrat bluntly told Edelstein he regarded the prime minister’s upcoming speech as an “affront to America’s first black president.”
Mike Palmer: New Currency Law Now in Effect—Could Be Devastating for Anyone Holding U.S. Dollars— Hidden within H.R. Bill #2847, is a little-known provision known as “FATCA.” The first part of this law went into effect last year. The rest of it will roll out, piece by piece, through the end of 2018. Few Americans have a any clue about what this is—but FATCA actually stands for the “Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act.” Like many problematic pieces of legislation, this one sounds innocent enough. But it has major repercussions—which could expedite a worldwide flight from the U.S. dollar and ultimately result in billions in potential losses for U.S. citizens. For one, this law means any institution that deals with U.S. dollars has to now comply with the IRS… which means many institutions could essentially stop dealing with U.S. dollars. For another, this law makes it increasingly difficult, if not impossible, for the average American to get some of his money out of U.S. dollars, and into more stable currencies via foreign banks.
Investor’s Business Daily: Obama Release Of Secret Report On Israel Nukes Betrays Ally—Mideast: Quietly, the Obama administration has released details of Israel’s nuclear program through the Defense Department. It was no accident, and could have a devastating impact on the balance of power in the region. The same administration that refused to divulge what’s in its soon-to-be-concluded nuclear “deal” with Iran, last month stealthily released a top-secret 1987 report on Israel’s nuclear program — information that might be used by Israel’s enemies. The 386-page report “describes in detail the march of Israeli military and technological advancement in the 1970s and ’80s,” wrote journalist Michael Karpin on the Jewish Daily Forward’s blog site. Karpin, author of the “The Bomb in the Basement — How Israel Went Nuclear and What That Means for the World,” says the U.S. report pays “particular attention to the development and progression of Israel’s nuclear infrastructure and research labs.”

James Simpson: Obama Accused of Obstructing Battle against Boko Haram to Promote Axelrod’s Nigerian Muslim Client— When the notorious Islamic terrorist group, Boko Haram, kidnapped 278 school girls from the town of Chibok in northeastern Nigeria last year, Michelle Obama began a Twitter hashtag campaign, #BringBackOurGirls. But behind the scenes, the Obama administration was undermining Nigeria’s efforts to take the battle to the terrorists. Obama refused to sell Nigeria arms and supplies critical to the fight, and stepped in to block other Western allies from doing so. The administration also denied Nigeria intelligence on Boko Haram from drones operating in the area. While Boko Haram was kidnapping school girls, the U.S. cut petroleum purchases from Nigeria to zero, plunging the nation’s economy into turmoil and raising concerns about its ability to fund its battle against the terrorists. Nigeria responded by cancelling a military training agreement between the two countries. The Nigerian presidential election is coming up Saturday, March 28, 2015. AKPD, the political consulting group founded by Obama confidante David Axelrod, is assisting Retired Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, a Muslim presidential candidate from Muslim-dominated northern Nigeria, where Boko Haram was spawned and wields the most influence. Buhari is well-known throughout the country, having led as “Head-of-State” following a military coup in 1983. He was dislodged following another coup in 1985.

Obama doesn’t learn. He tried to foul up the Israeli election to get his way and failed. Now he’s injecting himself into the Nigerian election to protect radical Islamists. He will have no excuse when he is confronted by Yahweh. We won’t, either, because we elected him.
If ordinary Americans knew what their government was doing behind the scenes around the world, they would be shocked and disgusted. Obama’s efforts to keep his actions secret provide him with political cover in the short-term, but secrets don’t remain secret for long. Foreign leaders already know the truth. Americans will know it soon enough.
The German people were blamed for Hitler’s horrific acts because they handed him the reins of power. We will be blamed, too.
Fred Kaplan: Why Obama May Be Making His Biggest Middle Eastern Gamble Yet—The Obama administration is bombing Sunni radicals in Iraq (which, in the end, will help Shiite militias), while also helping Saudis bomb Shiite rebels in Yemen (which is intended to help Sunni regimes). Is this the product of a fractured, even contradictory foreign policy? No. It’s more a reflection of the fact that the Middle East is a messed-up place these days—and so, for that matter, is the world. In a certain way, Obama’s actions, taken together, can be seen as the product of a realpolitik policy. It’s a separate question whether realpolitik—the cold, calculating pursuit of one’s own national interests—can be effectively applied to the Middle East. In other words, it’s a separate but vital question whether Obama’s approach is shrewd or naive.
SnyderTalk Comment: The Middle East has been a “messed-up place” for a very long time. Obama’s meddling has made it worse than it has been for more than 70 years—since before World War II.
Obama doesn’t have any idea how to solve the problems that he has ignited. He’s a grenade thrower—not a problem solver.
That’s why leaders in the Middle East don’t trust him. Obama creates problems and from a distance he tells them what to do. The operative word is “tells”. The people who have to live with Obama’s messes suffer unnecessarily while he enjoys another round of golf with Secret Service protection.
Eric Bradner: Ben Carson calls Obama a ‘psychopath’—His comment came in an exchange between the neurosurgeon who’s likely to mount a bid for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination and his chief adviser, Armstrong Williams, captured by a GQ reporter on the night of this year’s State of the Union address. Williams had said Obama looked “elegant” that night. And Carson responded: “Like most psychopaths. That’s why they’re successful. That’s the way they look. They all look great.” Later in the exchange, Carson accused Obama of knowingly selling the American public “a lie.”

Stephens got it right. Orwell did, too, and so did Lewis Carroll. Both 1984 and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland are part of the literary nonsense genre. Who would have imagined what we would be living in a nonsensical world in 2015?
The Economist: The ire over Iran— RARELY have relations between an American president and an Israeli prime minister sunk so low. No sooner had Binyamin Netanyahu won the Israeli election, on March 17th, than Barack Obama told him he would “reassess” relations with the Jewish state. Mr Netanyahu, says the president, has all but destroyed his credibility and the chances for peace with Palestinians, and he has eroded Israel’s democracy. These are strong words coming from Israel’s best friend. The mood has not been this bad since 1991, when the elder George Bush delayed loan guarantees to Israel; or maybe 1956, when Dwight Eisenhower forced Israel (and Britain and France) to withdraw after the intervention against Egypt. Mr Obama was right to chastise Mr Netanyahu over Palestine. But he should not ignore him altogether. This is a vital moment in the Middle East. Mr Obama may this week embrace Israel’s greatest foe, Iran, by agreeing on the outline for a nuclear deal. As cynical as Mr Netanyahu may be about Palestine, he deserves to be heard on the risk that a deal will turn Iran from a pariah into a legitimate and overbearing regional power.
SnyderTalk Comment: People at The Economist have swallowed the Palestinian line without apology. They have to ignore the facts to conclude that there is any hope for peace between Israel and Palestinians who are committed to the Jewish state’s destruction. There is something otherworldly about it.
Jonathan S. Tobin: Are the Iran Nuclear Talks a Hostage Negotiation?— With one week left before the current deadline for the end of the nuclear talks with Iran, the administration’s desperation to cut a deal with Tehran is fairly obvious. The reason why the Iranians have stood their ground on the last sticking points stems from President Obama’s history of retreating on every issue when pressed to do so, leading the Iranians to believe they can count on him making a few more concessions in order to secure the agreement. But according to Politico, they have another motive for expecting the West to give way again on measures that might conceivably limit their ability to cheat their way to a bomb. Instead of just taking advantage of Obama and Secretary of State Kerry’s zeal for a deal, they also have the ability to threaten mayhem throughout the Middle East if they don’t get their way. Possible Iranian threats against U.S. personnel in Iraq may be turning the nuclear talks into as much of a hostage negotiation as anything else. As Politico’s sources within the administration make clear, U.S. officials are worried that a breakdown in the nuclear talks could lead to attacks against Americans in Iraq from Shiite militias or others doing Iran’s bidding. Iran has become a de facto ally of the United States in the battle against ISIS. But as problematic as relying on an Islamist regime that sponsors terrorism to fight Islamist terrorists may be, this arrangement also leaves the 3,000 U.S. personnel sent to Iraq as advisers and trainers for the forces fighting ISIS vulnerable to Iranian revenge if the president doesn’t do as they demand in the nuclear talks.
Malcolm Lowe: Iran: The Only “Good Deal” – And How to Work for It— Even if, as the US Administration ceaselessly assures us, Iran’s drive to acquire nuclear weapons can be frustrated for a while, any relaxation of the current economic sanctions will be used to finance Iran’s other drive: its quest for regional hegemony. To begin with, the P5+1 could adopt the very successful style of negotiation practiced by Palestinians as well as Iranians. This is to whittle away at the position of the other side by extracting one little concession after another, but then to delay the negotiations indefinitely when the deal seems to be imminent. The result is that when negotiations do resume, it is not from zero, but from an inferior initial position of the other side. Whenever a deal seems near, one of the P5+1 should come up with a further demand or demands. What they could do is adopt that role in succession, so that Iran is the party that needs to keep starting afresh from a worse position.
Jonah Goldberg: Can Jewish Americans Support Both Democrats and Israel?— “I don’t understand how Jews in America can be Democrats first and Jewish second and support Israel along the line of just following their president,” vented Representative Steve King (R., Iowa) on Boston Herald Radio last week. It was a small controversy in the grand scheme of things, easily overlooked during a week when: a German pilot turned a routine flight into a murder-suicide mission, Ted Cruz drove the media batty by announcing he will run for president as Ted Cruz, an Army sergeant and Taliban captive the White House touted as a hero was charged with desertion, and America joined forces with Iran in Iraq to kill Sunni jihadists while allying with Saudi Arabia in Yemen to kill Shiite jihadists (who are backed by Iran). Still, King’s comments did enrage a lot of people, particularly people eager to make political hay. “I was shocked and horrified when I heard the remarks made by Representative King today stating that we are ‘Jewish second,’ and implying that Democrats are anti-Semitic,” responded Greg Rosenbaum, chair of the National Jewish Democratic Council. Representative Steve Israel (D., N.Y.) took his hissy fit to Twitter. “I don’t need Congressman Steve King questioning my religion or my politics,” he tweeted. “I demand an apology from him & repudiation from GOP. #dangerous.”
SnyderTalk Comment: As a matter of fact, Jewish people can’t support Israel and Democrats at the same time, but most of them think they can.
Supporting Democrats is the antithesis of supporting Israel.

Janine Di Giovanni and Conor Gaffey: The New Exodus: Christians Flee ISIS in the Middle East— Before jihadists overran this mountain town in 2013, Maaloula was one of the oldest Christian communities in Syria, where Western Aramaic—the language of Jesus Christ—is still spoken. It was also a place of profound peace, where Sunni and Shiite Muslim residents, along with their Christian neighbors, forged a pact early in the war to avoid the sectarian conflict ripping their country apart. “We decided that even if the mountains around us were exploding with fighting, we would not go to war,” Mahmoud Diab, a Sunni imam, toldNewsweek in 2012. “It’s a sectarian war, but the fact is, there is no war here in Maaloula. In this town, we are not defined by religion. We all know each other. Everyone is a Christian, and everyone is Muslim.” Tolerance had been a tradition in Maaloula since St. Takla—the daughter of a pagan prince and an early disciple (and possibly wife) of St. Paul—fled to these mountains in the first century. She was escaping soldiers sent by her father, who was threatening to kill her for her ardent faith in her adopted religion. St. Takla was exhausted and, finding her way blocked by the sharp, rocky sides of a mountain, fell on her knees in desperate prayer. Legend has it the mountains parted, and she escaped. Maaloula means entrance in Aramaic. For centuries, Christians and Muslims have come here to pray for miracles, but the residents of Maaloula weren’t blind to the dangers that swirled around them when I visited on several occasions in 2012 and 2013. “I am afraid of the kind of people who will come here,” said Antoinette Nasrallah, a Syrian-American, originally from Miami, who owned a café in the center of town. “I am afraid of Salafists.”
Cara Anna: UN Mideast Envoy Calls on Security Council for Israel Action— The U.N.’s top Mideast envoy challenged the Security Council on Thursday to lead the way to resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, suggesting it should present a framework for negotiations that “may be the only way to preserve the goal of a two-state solution.” Robert Serry, in his final briefing to the council, also sharply criticized Israel’s illegal building of settlements in Palestinian territories, saying it “may kill the very possibility of reaching peace on the paradigm of two states for two peoples.” “I frankly do not know if it is already too late,” Serry said. The U.N. envoy spoke a day after Israel’s prime minister was officially chosen to form a new government following an acrimonious election campaign. President Barack Obama has been clear this week about his impatience with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s comments shortly before the Israeli elections that he would not allow the establishment of a Palestinian state on his watch.
Vladimir Isachenkov: Putin says Russia will stand firm in standoff with West—President Vladimir Putin on Thursday voiced confidence that Russia will come out as a winner in its standoff with the West if it firmly stands its ground. Speaking before senior officials of the Federal Security Service, the main successor to the KGB agency, Putin said “the situation around our country will change for the better, but not because we will make concessions, bend down or trifle with someone.” “It will change for the better only if we become stronger,” he said. The Russian leader accused the West of using “attempts at political isolation, economic pressure, large-scale information war and instruments of special services” to weaken Russia.

Burak Bekdil: Turkey: Davutoglu vs. Davutoglu— In a speech in parliament on Jan. 28, Turkey’s main opposition leader, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, addressed Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu: “You are not the prime minister. You are [a “photo-op”] kid seated on the prime minister’s chair.” The weird situation Davutoglu has found himself in is the product of his boss and predecessor, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Last summer, as election season approached, then Prime Minister Erdogan and President Davutoglu tightened their grip on the internet. The duo deliberately limited their citizens’ access to social media and to popular and informative websites. They also increased the government’s power over the courts and the power of the MIT (Turkish intelligence Agency) to spy on people. None of this stopped the AKP from winning at the polls. Shortly after Erdogan won the presidential election in August, he nominated Davutoglu to be his successor as party chairman and prime minister.
Andrea Garrett: Outspoken Islam Critic Calls for an Islamic Reformation— For more than 10 years, Ayaan Hirsi Ali has been a fierce critic of Islam. As a result, she’s also been the target of constant death threats. Hirsi Ali was born a Muslim in Somalia, where she saw and experienced the brutal treatment of women and girls under fundamentalist Islam. As a young woman, she escaped from an arranged marriage and sought asylum in The Netherlands. She became involved in politics and eventually was elected to the Dutch parliament, where she was an outspoken critic of Islam. Today, Hirsi Ali lives in the United States and is a fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. She continues to risk her life to expose Islam, a religion she says subjugates Muslim women to lives of slavery, suffering, and submission.
World Jewish Congress: Jewish leaders testify to US Congress on rising Anti-Semitism— Appearing on behalf of WJC – representing more than 100 Jewish communities worldwide – before the US House of Representatives Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights, and International Organizations, Lauder said: “In order to defeat this new flame of radical Islamic terror and survive, the United States must lead. The United States can and must speak loudly and clearly to condemn this evil for what it is – the radical Islamic hatred of Jews.” Lauder’s remarks came in testimony today before the House subcommittee, chaired by Rep. Christopher Smith, on the topic “After Paris and Copenhagen, Responding to the Rising Tide of Anti-Semitism.” Also testifying on this issue were Roger Cukierman, president of the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions of France (CRIF), and Dan Rosenberg Asmussen, president of the Danish Jewish community. Lauder said the recent deadly wave of terror attacks against Jewish targets in Copenhagen and Paris were only the latest signs of a rising wave of anti-Semitism sweeping across Europe. This new form of anti-Semitism is being driven by radical Islam, but pushed along by extreme nationalists on the right and anti-Israel intellectual elites in universities, he said. “European leaders have stepped up and strongly condemned these attacks on Jews and the rise of anti-Semitism,” he said. “The United States must do the same. The United States must lead.”
Daniel Mael: Offense Welcome: In Defense of Free Speech on Campus— In 1902, the Russian Jewish author and early Zionist leader, Ze’ev Jabotinsky (1880-1940) responded to a fellow journalist’s effort to label Zionism as “historically retrograde”, “politically reactionary” and “unworkable”. “Defame it if you must!” he wrote. “The dream is greater than its slanderers. It need not fear their calumny.” In 2015, the pro-Israel campus movement, through its collective attempt to combat anti-Israel forces, risks failing to uphold Jabotinsky’s proclamation. Supporting Israel is now labelled an act of “racism” by some professors and certain campus organizations, such as Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP). Opposing Israel, however, is not considered the actual act of racism that it more likely is.

The god of this world is very busy. He is a liar—the father of lies. He is leading many people astray.

I never heard a preacher talk about it. Many of them, and maybe most of them, would be ashamed to do it.

All of us come to Yahweh in the same condition. He saves us because we choose to place our faith in Him.
Many Muslims will turn to Yahweh in the days ahead. We need to welcome them with open arms, the same way that Yahweh welcomes us when we accept His free gifts, redemption and salvation.
