Press TV—Iranian Commander: Our Missile Program Is Non-Negotiable, U.S. Is No Longer a Superpower:

A senior Iranian commander has dismissed as “meddlesome” the recent US claims that Tehran’s defense might would be part of the nuclear talks with six world powers, saying Iran’s missile capability is non-negotiable.

“Iran’s missile programs and defense capability, irrespective of their purpose, are not negotiable in any foreign circle,” Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri said on Wednesday.

“We don’t allow the US and others to interfere in the country’s defense affairs,” he added.

The commander underlined that Iran will use its defense might against bullying powers whenever it deems necessary.

He said Iran’s military might serves to defend the nations, adding that if the US oversteps the red lines, then it will have to be worried about Iran’s missiles.

“Gone are the days when the US was a superpower, but some still haven’t realized it,” he said.

Jazayeri’s comments came in reaction to the Monday remarks by US State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki, who claimed that Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities are part of the ongoing talks between Tehran and the P5+1 group of world powers over Tehran’s nuclear energy program.

SnyderTalk Comment: Obama promised that he would change the way the U.S. is perceived by the world, and he kept his word.  The Iranian commander’s assessment of the U.S. under President Obama is correct: “Gone are the days when the US was a superpower, but some still haven’t realized it.”

Most of the turmoil in the world today was ignited by Obama within days of taking office.  His bungling maneuvers in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, and even North America have been breathtaking.  There is no place on planet Earth where Obama has made a positive contribution.  Every place he has gone, he has left havoc in his wake.

Saying that Obama has created a global leadership vacuum is putting it mildly.  The laws of physics work no matter who is president.  Vacuums don’t last long.  Countries are lining up to see who can take the reins of power.

Iran, Turkey, and Russia understand what has happened and are taking steps to take advantage of opportunities to extend their influence.  Europe is…well, Europe is Europe—confused, disjointed, and verging of dissolution.  The European Union never made sense.  It’s just a matter of time before the clock runs out.

China is playing Obama like a fiddle.  They are preparing for a changing of the guard, but unlike other wannabes, China can actually do it.  See “China‘s secret plan to topple the US as the world’s superpower”.

Obama and Democrat stalwarts are idealistic, narrow-minded, immoral, and stubborn to a fault.  The ignorant among us have joined forces with them, but in the real world, it is dangerous to pretend that the world is something that it isn’t.

In the past century, two world wars have been fought to reestablish global order.  Will it be different this time around?  Don’t bet on it.

For more embarrassing news, read “Iran: The ‘Americans are begging us for a deal”.

Mohammad Reza Naghdi isn’t exaggerating.  Kerry was just voted the worst secretary of state in the last 50 years.  You don’t win Nobel Prizes for that.  Obama’s protective shield is gone.  Even Democrats are beginning to turn on him.  World leaders saw him as a joke from the get-go, and things have gone downhill from there.  Point is that Obama and Kerry need a deal with Iran desperately for purely personal reasons.

Would Obama and Kerry beg under these conditions?  They would do it without giving it a second thought.  They have no morals so they would do or say anything if they believed it was in their best interest, and they have no qualms about dragging our country down with them.

Also see “Netanyahu: Israel will do everything to prevent ‘bad and dangerous’ Iran deal”.  Netanyahu’s appearance before Congress at this propitious moment is Yahweh inspired.  He’ll give the world a well-timed, urgent warning.  It may be the last opportunity we have to wake up and change our ways.

World leaders need to pay attention to Netanyahu’s warning.  Will they?  If you have read the Bible, you probably think the answer is “no”.  That’s what I think, too.

13--Perspectives 2

#####

John Kampfner: Is Vladimir Putin a brilliant strategist, tactician, or mad? West must figure out Russia’s endgame— At a recent conference held in the Baltic states, one word dominated the agenda: Putin. They could have discussed Russia and its foreign policy more generally, but all routes lead to a president whose 15 years in power have left him in total charge. Amid increased fears of all-out war in Ukraine, governments and policy-makers around Europe are anxiously analyzing the motivation of the most dangerous politician on the continent since the end of the Cold War. In stark terms, three possibilities are considered: is he a brilliant strategist succeeding in a long-term plan to create a 21st century variant of the Soviet Union? Is he a cunning tactician who responds to events as they happen? Or is he mad? No consensus was reached at that conference because the complexities of the human brain defy such simple assessment. Indeed, all three explanations could be said to be playing a part – to devastating effect.

Josef Joffe: The Unreality of Obama’s Realpolitik — When historians look back on President Obama’s foreign policy, it likely will be defined by two shibboleths: “leading from behind” and “we don’t have a strategy yet.” Great powers lead from the front, and they don’t formulate strategy on the fly. They must have a strategy beforehand, one based on power and purpose that tells challengers what to expect. Nowhere is this truer than with the Islamic Republic of Iran, a rival power playing for the highest stakes: nuclear weapons and regional hegemony. The retort from Mr. Obama, if he ever laid out a Middle East strategy, might go like this: “Iran is No. 1 in the region, and we need its help against Islamic State and sundry Sunni terror groups. Save for a massive assault with all its incalculable consequences, we cannot denuclearize Iran; we can only slow its march toward the bomb and guard against a rapid breakout. Rising powers must be accommodated for the sake of peace and cooperation. So let’s be good realpolitikers, especially since it’s time for a little nation-building at home.”

Washington Post Editorial: The Emerging Iran Nuclear Deal Raises Major Concerns—As the Obama administration pushes to complete a nuclear accord with Iran, numerous members of Congress, former secretaries of state and officials of allied governments are expressing concern about the contours of the emerging deal. Though we have long supported negotiations with Iran as well as the interim agreement, we share several of those concerns and believe they deserve more debate now – before negotiators present the world with a fait accompli.     A process that began with the goal of eliminating Iran’s potential to produce nuclear weapons has evolved into a plan to tolerate and restrict that capability. In the course of the negotiations, the Obama administration has declined to counter increasingly aggressive efforts by Iran to extend its influence across the Middle East and seems ready to concede Tehran a place as a regional power at the expense of Israel and other U.S. allies. Finally, the Obama administration is signaling that an accord that would have far-reaching implications for nuclear proliferation and U.S. national security would be imposed unilaterally by a president with less than two years left in his term. While presidents initiate U.S. foreign policies, it is vital that major shifts win the support of Congress and the country; otherwise, they will be unsustainable.

Toby Greene interviews Dore Gold: Is Iran an Existential Threat to Israel?— Toby GreeneOne of the challenges posed to Prime Minister Netanyahu is that there is a lack of clear strategy, in particular regarding the Palestinian issue. A concern expressed is that trying to preserve the status quo will lead to disaster, or even a third Intifada. Prime Minister Netanyahu himself has said he wants to avoid heading towards a bi-national state, but in the absence of peace talks it’s not clear how he plans to meet that concern. What do you think about that criticism of Prime Minister Netanyahu? Dore Gold: I think critics of Israel often have a short memory and they forget the actions the Israeli government has taken to try and make the peace process work, even when it has many faults. It was Prime Minister Netanyahu who moved his own position with respect to a number of key issues to try and reach out to the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. It was Prime Minister Netanyahu who accepted the idea of a demilitarised Palestinian state in his famous Bar-Ilan speech a few years back. And when it was suggested to Prime Minister Netanyahu that in order to prepare the ground for a resumption of negotiations with the Palestinians, Israel should implement a settlement freeze for ten months (a policy that no previous Israeli government had undertaken) Prime Minister Netanyahu met the challenge and actually implemented a freeze…

Seth Mandel: “Compromise” Deal Shows How Iran Wins By Waiting— A question hanging in the air during President Obama’s time in office has been: does he want to prevent Iran from ever getting nuclear weapons, or does he simply want to forestall their nuclear capability until he’s out of office? Obama’s supporters insisted it was the former. Their faith in him is getting yet another test, with the latest report on the two sides mulling a deal that would be quite favorable to Iran. The Associated Press reports that with time winding down in this overtime period, American and Iranian negotiators are considering how to allow the American side to fold while saving face: With time for negotiations running short, the U.S and Iran are discussing a compromise that would let Iran keep much of its uranium-enriching technology but reduce its potential to make nuclear weapons, two diplomats tell The Associated Press.

Abraham H. Foxman: What’s at Stake with Iran?—It is becoming more critical than ever to keep our eye on the ball. Whatever one’s view of the decision by Speaker of the House John Boehner to invite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to speak before Congress, this unnecessary brouhaha should not divert us from the real issue: Will we stop Iran from becoming a nuclear armed power? For the State of Israel, this is a life and death scenario. Let’s remember that at the heart of the Islamic Republic of Iran is a goal of destroying the Jewish state. In November 2014 the all-powerful Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said that the Jewish state “has no cure but to be annihilated.” The tragic history of the Jewish people in the 20th century has taught us that we must take seriously threats of annihilation. This is particularly so in the case of Iran which is moving inexorably toward a nuclear weapons capability.

Asmaa al-Ghoul: Threat of Violence Silences Palestinian Journalists—A late 2014 study by the Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms found that 80% of Palestinian journalists in the West Bank and Gaza practice self-censorship of their writing. Journalist Ghazi Bani Odeh, who conducted the survey, “The Official Media and Freedom of Expression,” told Al-Monitor that attacks and harassment are the main causes leading journalists to censor themselves. “There is no difference between the violations [against journalists] committed in the West Bank and those committed in Gaza, as journalists are equally suppressed, thus leading them to examine every word they write.” Mohammed Othman, a freelance journalist who writes for Al-Monitor, was physically assaulted and threatened at the headquarters of the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) on Jan. 5 for publishing a report about the killing of people accused of collaborating with Israel during the 2014 war. According to Fathi Sabah, who writes forAl-Hayat, there is a policeman in the mind of every Palestinian journalist in the West Bank and Gaza.

Wall Street Journal Editorial Another UN Human Rights Fraud: The Head of a Gaza Inquiry Was on the Palestinian Payroll—Canadian law professor William Schabas, who resigned this week as chairman of the UN Human Rights Council’s Commission of Inquiry into the 2014 Gaza conflict, should never have been tapped for the job. His public statements on Israel made clear he wouldn’t be an unbiased fact-finder. The inquiry was formed to investigate war crimes during last summer’s Gaza conflict, which broke out after the Gaza-based terror group Hamas fired rockets at Israeli population centers. Yet the UN wanted to investigate only Israel. That’s a problem, because genuine rights abuses worthy of investigation include Hamas’ placement of rocket launchers in schools and hospitals and its strategy of firing on Israeli civilians. Schabas’ departure won’t salvage the credibility of a commission that has been politicized from the start.

Anne Bayefsky: How the UN Mixes Anti-Semitism, the Holocaust, and Israeli War Crimes—In 2014, the General Assembly adopted 20 times more resolutions condemning Israel for human rights violations than any other country, and only seven such resolutions on all of the other 192 UN member states combined. Half of all emergency sessions of the General Assembly in its history attack Israel. The Assembly did not hold one emergency session about genocide in Rwanda or Sudan. One-third of all the resolutions and decisions ever adopted by the UN’s top human rights body, the UN Human Rights Council, condemn only Israel. In advance of every regular session, regardless of the facts, the Council sets aside time specifically to condemn only one state – Israel. 38% of the special sessions and urgent debates ever held by the Council have been convened to condemn Israel. Not a single such session has been held on countries violating the rights of millions – like China, Iran, Saudi Arabia or Russia.

Fethullah Gulen: Turkey’s Eroding Democracy—Not long ago, Turkey was the envy of Muslim-majority countries: a viable candidate for the EU on its path to becoming a functioning democracy that upholds universal human rights, gender equality, the rule of law and the rights of Kurdish and non-Muslim citizens. This historic opportunity now appears to have been squandered as Turkey’s ruling party, the AKP, clamps down on civil society, media, the judiciary and free enterprise. AKP’s leaders now depict every democratic criticism of them as an attack on the state. The director of one of the most popular TV channels, arrested in December, is still behind bars. Public officials investigating corruption charges have also been purged and jailed for simply doing their jobs. The core tenets of a functioning democracy – the rule of law, respect for individual freedoms – are also the most basic of Islamic values bestowed upon us by God. No political or religious leader has the authority to take them away.

Toronto Sun Editorial: Standing with Israel, Again—Last week the Islamist terrorist group Hizbullah fired missiles at an Israeli military convoy near the Israel-Lebanon border, killing two Israeli soldiers. Canada has officially labelled Hizbullah a terrorist group since 2002. According to Public Safety Canada: “One of the most technically capable terrorist groups in the world, Hizbullah is a radical Shia group ideologically inspired by the Iranian revolution. Its goals are the liberation of Jerusalem, the destruction of Israel, and, ultimately, the establishment of a revolutionary Shia Islamic state in Lebanon, modeled after Iran.” An emboldened Hizbullah means an emboldened Iran. Hizbullah is a proxy for Iran and receives funding from them. When Hizbullah thrives, Iran thrives. And when the current Iranian regime wins, everybody else loses. It’s important that principled democracies around the world stand up against terrorist thugs like Hizbullah. Israel is the closest thing to a Western liberal democracy in the Middle East. It’s the closest thing to being a country like ours. And it’s under attack in part for that very reason. This latest aggression should not be tolerated by the international community. Certainly not by Canada. It’s time again to stand with Israel.

Lawrence H. Summers: Harvard, Israel, and Academic Freedom—In the “Global Engagement” section of the Harvard University website, I was surprised to see an op-ed by a research fellow at Harvard’s Middle East Initiative proclaiming without qualification that “what is certain is that Israeli-Lebanese-Syrian-Iranian tensions and active warfare would not be a recurring problem, as in fact they are, had Israel responded to the Arab peace plan.” While I find this assertion absurd, others would disagree, and it would, of course, be wrong for the university to censor either opinion in any way. Unfortunately, the official showcasing of a patently anti-Israel article is not an isolated example. Late last year, through some failure of administrative oversight, Harvard University Dining Services altered its procurement policy to avoid purchasing soda machines originating in the West Bank. The failure to maintain controls sufficient to prevent activists from hijacking the university’s name and reputation in support of their objectives is a very serious issue. When Harvard allows its reputation to be attached to pernicious ideas, it raises the risk that they will be seen as legitimate. If Harvard is to lead on academic freedom, it is essential that we all feel free to assert our views but that our university protect with ferocity its reputation by preventing views demonizing Israel or any other country.

Yoram Schweitzer: Egypt’s War in the Sinai Peninsula: A Struggle that Goes beyond Egypt—The Jan. 29, 2015, attacks in northern Sinai by some 60 armed men killed 32 people. The attacks included rockets and mortar fire and at least three suicide bombings. There were concurrent attacks in Port Said and Alexandria. The offensive was carried out by Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, which in November 2014 pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (IS). IS support for the group through funding and provision of weapons and personnel gives Egypt’s campaign in Sinai great importance. The success of the Sisi government in providing an effective response to the offensive by Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis will also affect the ability of other countries to contend with Salafist jihadi elements. Such success will also serve to hinder the impression of an unstoppable, threatening force created by IS conquests. Egypt’s campaign in Sinai has tremendous significance for Israel since Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis has carried out attacks against Israel in the past and has declared that it will continue to operate directly against Israel. Therefore, any intelligence, operational, or political assistance that Israel can provide to the el-Sisi regime will serve Israel’s security interests.

Richard Cohen: Anti-Semitism in Europe Isn’t about Israel—The Islamic world is not so concerned about Palestinians that it has accorded Palestinian refugees anything like equal rights in the countries where they have sought refuge, or protested when whole Palestinian communities were uprooted from Kuwait after the PLO supported Saddam Hussein. The Arab world weeps for the Palestinians – but only on cue and not too much. So the supposed anger that drives some Muslims into sharing core beliefs with Adolf Hitler is not all that essential to the Islamic or Arab identity. Anti-Semitism is the most durable of all conspiracy theories and blaming Israel misses the point. The pogroms of Europe took place with no Israel in sight. The Holocaust consumed 6 million Jews and not because Hitler was pro-Palestinian.

Tim Mak and Nancy A. Youssef: ISIS Ranks Grow as Fast as U.S. Bombs Can Wipe Them Out—Four thousand foreign fighters have joined ISIS since the allied airstrikes began, U.S. intelligence officials say. That’s nearly as many combatants as coalition forces claimed to have killed. Moreover, the tally doesn’t count the thousands of local Iraqi and Syrian combatants who’ve joined the conflict. “The numbers are not moving in our favor,” Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-TN) said last week, after a secret briefing with Gen. John Allen, presidential envoy in the campaign against ISIS.

Douglas Murray: More On “No-Go Zones”: Displacing What Is Disagreeable— Amid all the giggling and the Twitter hashtags, something dark is going on in France and Britain. None of these areas is a place where non-Muslims are “forbidden” to go. But they do exist. They are places where behavior that is commonplace in wider society would certainly be discouraged, sometimes intimidatingly so. Last year in the UK, we discovered that a portion of Birmingham’s secular state schools had been taken over by Islamic fundamentalists. The results of these discoveries — which included teachings that Muslims were to distance themselves from non-Muslims, look down on then and not take them as friends — shocked the nation. It still seems shaken. Yet most Muslim leaders in the UK simply denied the findings of successive government-led inquiries. Instead of tackling the outrages, they dismissed them as some “Islamophobic” plot. It seemed we were witnessing an example of “displacement:” it is so much easier to laugh at a foreign news station than to deal with the jolting nugget of truth that may have been exaggerated. So much easier to choke on your porridge at the “idiocy” of an American than to stop your schools from being lost to extremist ideologies. And so much easier to talk of “suing” a news channel than to prevent atrocities of the kind we saw last month from happening again in your city.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Genesis 48: 1-7

1 Now it came about after these things that Joseph was told, “Behold, your father is sick.” So he took his two sons Manasseh and Ephraim with him. 2 When it was told to Jacob, “Behold, your son Joseph has come to you,” Israel collected his strength and sat up in the bed. 3 Then Jacob said to Joseph, “God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan and blessed me, 4 and He said to me, ‘Behold, I will make you fruitful and numerous, and I will make you a company of peoples, and will give this land to your descendants after you for an everlasting possession.’ 5 Now your two sons, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you in Egypt, are mine; Ephraim and Manasseh shall be mine, as Reuben and Simeon are. 6 But your offspring that have been born after them shall be yours; they shall be called by the names of their brothers in their inheritance. 7 Now as for me, when I came from Paddan, Rachel died, to my sorrow, in the land of Canaan on the journey, when there was still some distance to go to Ephrath; and I buried her there on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).”

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
