The U.S. May Have Passed the Point of No Return
Tucked away in the 15th chapter of Genesis, you will find a verse that scares the bejeebers out of me. I believe that Genesis 15 is the most important chapter in the Bible because it presents the Covenant upon which all believers rely for salvation/deliverance.
When Yahweh ratified the Covenant with Abraham, Abraham was asleep. Thankfully, Yahweh ratified it Himself. That means He’s solely responsible for fulfilling the Covenant’s requirements (both His and ours) because we can’t live up to our end of the bargain no matter how hard we try. In my book His Name is Yahweh, I explain the significance of the Covenant in detail. I hope that you will take the time to read it.
The verse that I want to focus on appears in the passage of Scripture just before the Covenant’s ratification:
God said to Abram, “Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, where they will be enslaved and oppressed four hundred years. But I will also judge the nation whom they will serve, and afterward they will come out with many possessions. As for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you will be buried at a good old age. Then in the fourth generation they will return here, for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet complete.” (Genesis 15: 13-16)
Yahweh explained that Abraham’s descendants would be enslaved for 400 years and then they would return to the Promised Land. That was about 500 years before the Exodus.
Verse 16 explains the reason for the delay:
“… for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet complete.” (Genesis 15: 16)
Amorites lived in the Promised Land when Yahweh ratified the Covenant. He had to move them out to make room for Abraham’s descendants, but He wouldn’t do it until after their iniquity was complete.
There is an important lesson to be learned here. There is a line with Yahweh that you must not cross. Think of it as the point of no return.
Yahweh’s red lines are firm. The Amorites were approaching it, but they wouldn’t reach it for awhile. Only after they reached it would Yahweh destroy the Amorites and lead the Children of Israel to the Promised Land.
I think the United States has already crossed the line. Yahweh has been judging us all along for our iniquity, but we haven’t been paying attention. I won’t make a list of all the things that I believe He has done to wake up our nation and lead us to repentance, but it includes things like 9/11.
What was our reaction to that tragic event? We doubled down by opening our borders to Muslims of all persuasions, even to those who want to kill us. Then we elected and re-elected a president who assured us that Islam is a peaceful religion. He packed his administration with Islamists and their apologists.
History teaches that Islam is a religion of war and conquest. The incidence of domestic Islamist terrorist attacks has been on the rise for decades. The frequency of attacks increased after 9/11 and increased even more after Obama’s election. We ignored the facts and bought into his shameless lies.
From Ft. Hood to Boston to the streets of New York City, we are paying the price. The most bizarre incident took place in Moore, Oklahoma a few weeks ago. A domestic Islamist terrorist killed and beheaded a 54-year-old woman who was on her way to work. That’s strange, but the reactions to the attack were even more bizarre.
The Oklahoma Conference of Churches advised “all Oklahomans and people everywhere not to equate Mr. (Nolen’s) actions with the beliefs and practices of the Islamic Community in Oklahoma.” Even though Alton Nolan converted to Islam, attended a local mosque with ties to al Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki, and became a jihadist, Oklahoma’s “Christian” leaders urged the people of Oklahoma not to draw the obvious conclusion about his motives. That’s absurd. If they had asked their fellow Christians not to take revenge, I wouldn’t have had a problem, but that’s not what they asked.
The mainstream media went even further. They asserted that Nolan’s attack was just another case of “workplace violence”. If that’s not ignoring reality, I don’t know what is.
We didn’t stop there, though. We turned our back on Israel. At this moment, we are trying to force Israel to give away land that Yahweh promised to the descendants of Abraham through Isaac and Jacob/Israel. The people to whom we want Israel to give the land (Palestinians) have vowed to annihilate the Jewish state. From the moment their children are born, they teach them that killing Jews is an honorable act.
A few days ago, a Palestinian terrorist drove a car into a crowd of Jewish people in Jerusalem. Instantly, a three-month-old Jewish child was killed. Both Hamas and Fatah leaders praised the act. Hamas called the baby a “female settler” and urged Palestinians to ramp up the violence. Hamas and Fatah are terrorist groups that represent the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, respectively.
But we didn’t stop there, either. We legalized sodomy, and we have made homosexuals a virtual protected class of citizens. If SnyderTalk was a 501(c)(3) organization under the IRS code, that sentence alone could cause me to lose that status.
The mayor of Houston, Texas, Annise Parker, is a lesbian. She demanded that pastors from 5 area churches turn over their sermons to her in advance for her approval. She backed off when there was a political backlash, but she vowed to “narrow the scope” and return. That should give you some idea how far off course our nation has drifted.
I don’t want to belabor the point any further because this is the bottom line: I don’t think it matters who we elect to represent us in the House, the Senate, or the White House because I think we have crossed the line. All that remains is for Yahweh to execute final judgment on our nation. I have no idea what that might be, and it scares me to think about it.
If I sound pessimistic, it’s only because I am.
I’m not saying that we shouldn’t pray for our nation or that we shouldn’t strive to elect God-fearing men and women to represent us in seats of political power, but I believe that we may have passed the point of no return so it may not matter. I’m drawn to that conclusion because of what I see and hear and read. I’m especially concerned about so-called “Christians” who are among the leaders of efforts to undermine Yahweh’s principles. Some of them are more Democrat than Christian.
On the positive side, it’s possible that we will repent—have a change of heart and reverse course—and get in sync with Yahweh. The people of Nineveh did that when Jonah took Yahweh’s message to them.
So take your responsibility seriously and do what you can, but keep in mind that it may be too late.

Daniel Pipes and Teri Blumenfeld: Terrorism defies definition— Defining terrorism has practical implications because formally certifying an act of violence as terrorist has important consequences in U.S. law. Terrorism suspects can be held longer than criminal suspects after arrest without an indictment. They can be interrogated without a lawyer present. They receive longer prison sentences. “Terrorist inmates” are subject to many extra restrictions, known as Special Administrative Measures, or SAMs. The “Terrorism Risk Insurance Act of 2002” gives corporate victims of terrorism special breaks (it is currently up for renewal) and protects owners of buildings from certain lawsuits. When terrorism is invoked, families of victims, such as those of the 2009 Fort Hood, Texas, attack, win extra benefits such as tax breaks, life insurance and combat-related pay. Despite the legal power of this term, however, terrorism remains undefined beyond a vague sense of “a non-state actor attacking civilian targets to spread fear for some putative political goal.” One study titled “Political Terrorism” lists 109 definitions. American security specialist David Tucker wryly remarks that “[a]bove the gates of hell is the warning that all who enter should abandon hope. Less dire but to the same effect is the warning given to those who try to define terrorism.” The Israeli counterterrorism specialist Boaz Ganor jokes that “[t]he struggle to define terrorism is sometimes as hard as the struggle against terrorism itself.”
Burak Bekdil: Turkey’s Love Affair with Hamas— “The Palestinian cause” is a unique charm that brings together Turks from different ideologies. Turkish Islamists view it as an indispensable part of “jihad;” the conservatives feel attached to it because it has a religious connotation; for the leftists it is part of an “anti-imperialist” struggle; the nationalists embrace it just because most Turks embrace it. In the 1970s, when a dozen Turks a day on average were killed in street violence, the “Palestinian cause” was the only issue that otherwise warring fractions of the Turkish left, right and Islamists could agree on. But it was the Islamists who, in the 2000s, made the biggest gains from the concept. Since 2002, when they came to power, they have reaped enormous political gains from the “Palestine-fetish,” to which they also love to be ideologically attached. For the Turks, it has been like abusing alcohol and wanting to have a healthier life. It still is.
Burak Bekdil: Turkey: No Longer a “Rock Star” on Arab Street— Early in 2010, James Jeffrey, then U.S. ambassador to Turkey, sent a cable to Washington, DC in which he described Turkey as a country “[w]ith Rolls Royce ambitions but Rover resources”. Time has proven him right. Back in 2009-10, then Turkey’s Prime Minister (now President) Recep Tayyip Erdogan was greeted like a rock star in every Arab capital. He was presumably the darling of the Arab Street, including Damascus, Beirut and Egypt — all of which are today Turkey’s regional nemeses. In 2011, an Egyptian columnist wrote a commentary in which he “begged the Turks to lend [them] their prime minister.” To which this columnist replied: “By all means. Take him, and you need not return him.”
Robert Stearns: Evangelical support for Israel? Look to the East— There has been a great deal of press lately regarding the supposed rapid waning of evangelical support for Israel. It seems that at very nearly the same moment in which portions of the global Jewish community in general (and in Israel specifically) have become more fully aware of and connected with evangelical support and friendship, numerous pundits are suggesting that this support is unraveling. Various reasons are suggested for this, including a general move toward a more “social justice” mindset among younger evangelicals, in which the Palestinians are viewed as the underdogs and Israel as the aggressor. Events such as the now infamous Christ at the Checkpoint conference and the lesser known Telos Group based in Washington, DC, are pointed to as the J Street and Peace Now of the younger evangelical set. As someone who has spent the past 20 years in almost daily Jewish-Christian dialogue and cooperation, I understand the fear that evangelical support may appear fragile right now. But I would like to offer another perspective. I don’t think global evangelical support is waning. In fact, I think we are just beginning to see its strongest expressions.
Abigail R. Esman: Dutch Mayor Compares Muslims Joining ISIS to Post WWII Jews— Lured by local mosques and the Internet, by visions of warriors and victory dancing in their heads, thousands of European Muslims have left the safety of their homes in England, France, Germany, the Netherlands and elsewhere to join the Syrian jihad. Concern about the security threat they may pose on their return has gripped European leaders for some time; now, they are starting to focus on ways of stopping Muslim would-be jihadists from traveling to Syria at all. But not everyone seems to think it’s such a good idea: Pieter Broertjes, mayor of the Dutch city of Hilversum, for instance, thinks they should be allowed to go. “They’re adults,” he said in a radio interview Thursday. “Dutch went to Israel after World War II to fight the British, and we didn’t try to stop them.” (The reference is to the Palestinian territories, which was under British rule until 1948.) Let’s get this straight. Muslims who seek to join terrorist groups, killing innocent men, women and children in some of the most gruesome, inhuman acts of violence imaginable, are just like the Jews who escaped Europe after World War II?
Louis René Beres: Palestinian Statehood?— When U.S. President Barack Obama announces in the United Nations that he wants a two-state solution for Israel and “Palestine,” and when U.S. Secretary of State repeated it recently — and when Sweden and the UK vote for a Palestinian State, and now possibly Spain and France — they should be more careful what they wish for. Although there is no lawful justification for offering statehood, but Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, on September 26, 2014, told the United Nations that “the hour of independence of the state of Palestine has arrived.” Earlier, in 2012, the PA had already received elevated status from the UN General Assembly to that of a “nonmember observer state,” but this elevation fell short of full sovereignty. There can also be no justification — ethical, legal, or geopolitical — for waging war against the ISIS jihadis in Syria and Iraq, while simultaneously urging statehood for the Hamas/PA jihadis in West Bank [Judea and Samaria] and Gaza.
Richard Kemp: Israel’s Security and Unintended Consequences— When in 1942 American General Douglas MacArthur took command of the defense of Australia against imminent Japanese invasion, one of the plans he rejected was to withdraw and fight behind the Brisbane line, a move that would have given large swathes of territory to the Japanese. Instead, he adopted a policy of forward defense: advancing northwards out of Australia to attack the Japanese on the island of New Guinea. MacArthur then went on to play a pivotal role in the defeat of the Japanese empire. At the end of last year, during the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations involving U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, another extremely able and widely respected American General, John Allen, drew up a plan progressively to withdraw Israeli forces from the West Bank and hand over Israel’s forward defense to a combination of Palestinian Arab forces, international monitors and technology.
Meredith Somers: Muslims increasingly moving away from GOP— Two-thirds of Muslim voters plan to visit the polls on Election Day, and more than half of them are Democratic Party supporters, according to a new survey. Of 1,500 Muslim registered voters surveyed, 69 percent plan to cast ballots in the Nov. 4 midterm elections and 16 percent do not plan to vote, according to the poll conducted Wednesday by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Fourteen percent declined to answer. Of the nearly 1,000 Muslim registered voters planning to vote, half said they the Democratic Party, and 15 percent said they back the Republican Party. About one-quarter of the registered voters did not want to share their political affiliation.
Abigail R. Esman: Netherlands: When the Questions Become the Crime— Last March, Geert Wilders, the controversial right-wing Dutch Parliamentarian best known for his stance against Muslims and Muslim immigration, stood before supporters at a campaign rally and asked a simple question: “Do you want more Moroccans, or fewer?” He expected the question to raise enthusiasm among the crowd, and drive his party to greater Parliamentary success. It has also possibly landed him before the courts, to be tried for “hate speech” — a crime in the Netherlands, which, despite its claims of “freedom of speech,” still criminalizes speech that “offends” on the basis of race, religion, sexual orientation, or even personal convictions and ideology. Wilders, however, didn’t make a statement: he simply asked others what they wanted. It was the Dutch people themselves who, in response, cried out, “Fewer! Fewer!”

Excerpt: Ya’alon arrived on Tuesday to meet his counterpart, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, and American intelligence officials. The Obama administration, however, refused the Israeli defense minister’s request to meet with other top officials, including Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State John Kerry, and the National Security Advisor Susan Rice.
The rejection was diplomatic blowback from Ya’alon’s remarks on Kerry, which were first revealed by Yedioth Ahronoth. The Israeli politician had called the top US diplomat “messianic and obsessive” behind closed doors, adding that “the only thing that could save us is Kerry winning a Nobel Peace Prize and leaving us alone.”
Israel’s Defense Minister: Mideast Borders ‘Absolutely’ Will Change
Excerpt: Israel’s Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon is known for his blunt manner, and in an interview with NPR, he says a future map of the Middle East will look very different from the one that exists today.
The borders of many Arab states were drawn up by Westerners a century ago, and wars in recent years show that a number of them are doomed to break apart, according to Ya’alon, a career soldier who became Israel’s defense minister last year.
“We have to distinguish between countries like Egypt, with their history. Egypt will stay Egypt,” Ya’alon, who is on a visit to Washington, tells Morning Edition’s Steve Inskeep.
In contrast, Ya’alon says, “Libya was a new creation, a Western creation as a result of World War I. Syria, Iraq, the same — artificial nation-states — and what we see now is a collapse of this Western idea.”

SnyderTalk Comment: Three points: 1) Yahweh appeared to Jacob/Israel in human form. 2) The land in question is the Promised Land, or the land we call Israel today plus more. 3) Jacob set up the pillar stone where Yahweh appeared to him. It’s the same place where Solomon built Yahweh’s Temple. It’s the same place that we call the Temple Mount today. Read His Name is Yahweh.

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.
