Mark Steyn—Winning Heads and Minds:

Moore is a municipality that lies between Norman, where a dear friend of mine lives, and Oklahoma City, which I know reasonably well. I can’t claim to know Moore other than to drive through, but I do remember the water tower emblazoned with “Moore – Home of Toby Keith”. Can’t get more American than that, can you?

Colleen Hufford was born in 1960. Life is full of grim twists and cruel vicissitudes, but in mid-20th century America it would not have occurred to anyone that one needed to worry about going to work and being beheaded by a colleague. Yet that’s what happened to Ms Hufford on Thursday: She turned up for her job at at the Vaughan Foods food processing plant in Moore, and Alton Alexander Nolen decapitated her.

Why would he do that? Well, as the initial reports were at pains to assure us, it’s nothing to do with terrorism. That’s true, in the sense that Mr Nolen is not a card-carrying member of an officially credentialed state-recognized terrorism-provider such as ISIS or al-Qaeda. It’s true in the sense that he’s not on any official US Department of Homeland Security terror watch list, because, under the geniuses running American national security, that honor is reserved for my fellow Hillsdale cruiser Steve Hayes. And, of course, it’s also true in the sense that Mr Nolen is a recent convert to Islam and, as David Cameron and Barack Obama and many others are ever more eager to emphasize, terrorism is nothing to do with Islam. Mr Nolen had the Muslim greeting “As-salamu Alaikum” – “Peace be upon you” – tattooed upon his abdomen. And he’d tried, without success, to persuade his co-workers at Vaughan Foods to convert to Islam. So he wasn’t just mildly Islamic in the nothing-to-do-with-terrorism sense, he was super-Islamic in the really-totally-no-terrorism-to-see-here sense.

SnyderTalk Comment: Alton Alexander Nolen, the Moore, Oklahoma Islamist beheader, shouted “Islamic phrases” while he performed his dastardly deed leaving no room for doubt about his motives.  His Facebook page provides further proof.

Why, then, have we heard so little (I’m being kind by suggesting anything at all) from President Obama about this act of wanton violence inflicted on an innocent victim whose only “crime” was being a non-Muslim on her way to work.

It’s very hard to take this president seriously.  He scrupulously avoids telling the truth, does everything imaginable to avoid calling Islamists what they really are, cozies up to Islamists in Egypt and Turkey, and soft-pedals what should be an all-out war with ISIS.

While our allies are telling us that airstrikes are not enough to get the job done, Obama dithers.  We don’t have any more time to waste.  The wolves are at our door already.

For many years, I’ve been saying that with friends like Obama, Israel doesn’t need enemies.  Now I’ll say the same thing about the U.S.  With friends like Obama, the U.S. doesn’t need enemies.

Let’s hope that the voters send Obama and members of Congress a strong message in November.  It has to be one that is impossible to misinterpret for reasons that should be obvious.

Heavy.com: Alton Nolen: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know— 1. Co-Workers Say He Tried to Convert Them to Islam. Nolen, 30, reportedly worked at Vaughan Foods in Moore and had been trying to convert his co-workers to Islam, according to News 9. KFOR reports that Nolen had been recently fired from the plant. The FBI is actively investigating the case. KFOR reports the feds are targeting the religious elements of the case. According to Oklahoma records, he has a tattoo of Jesus Christ on his chest and three other tattoos. News 9 reports Nolen had recently converted to Islam. On his Facebook page, Nolen goes by the name Jah’Keem Yisrael. The same page says he attended Idabel High School and studied business management at Langston University. He lists Rockin’ T Livestock and Cattle Services, but shortly after Nolen’s page was discovered by reporters, that company’s Facebook page posted “Not affiliated with Alton Nolen.”

Thomas Lifson: Muslim leaders play victim in Oklahoma beheading— Colleen Hufford of Moore Oklahoma may be dead, but the real victims are Muslims, or so we are being asked to believe. In fact, according to the Imam of the Islamic Institute of Boston, Islam suffers a “double hurt.” And here I thought Ms. Hufford had it bad. The imam should know, after all, it was his Institute’s “resident scholar” who was reportedly the former imam of the Oklahoma mosque attended by Alton Alexander Nolen, aka Jah’Keem Yisrael, who wielded the knife separating Ms. H’s head from her body. And the leadership of that Oklahoma mosque agree that they are the ones facing difficulty now that Ms. Hufford is consigned to the fate an infidel suffers after death.

Soeren Kern: Anjem Choudary, in His Own Words—[Anjem Choudary is the British Islamist who was arrested a few days ago and then released.] “In the Quran it is not allowed for you to feel sorry for non-Muslims. I don’t feel sorry for him.” — Anjem Choudary. “Eventually the whole world will be governed by Shari’ah & Muslims will have authority over China Russia USA etc This is the promise of Allah.” — Anjem Choudary. “Under the Koran the sale of alcohol is prohibited and if one were to also drink alcohol, that would be 40 lashes.” — Anjem Choudary. “We [Muslims] take the Jizya, which is ours anyway. The normal situation is to take money from the kuffar [non-Muslim]. They give us the money. You work, give us the money, Allahu Akhbar. We take the money.” — Anjem Choudary.

Yoram Schweitzer and Shani Avita: Jihadi War in Sinai— Terrorist activity by Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis has increased in recent weeks. Presumably the organization’s growing activity in Sinai, which is spilling over into Egyptian cities, is affected by the tightening of its relations with non-Egyptian terrorist organizations, headed by ISIS and Salafi jihadi affiliates from the Gaza Strip, and constitutes a strong challenge to the sense of security and stability of the el-Sisi regime. This is the background to the recently heightened activity by the Egyptian army against terrorism in Sinai. Senior officers in Israel have stated that at this stage, ISIS is a remote enemy that does not regard Israel as its most important target, certainly not in the short term. At the same time, attention should be paid to the ever close alliance between ISIS and Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis and Salafi jihadi organizations in Gaza.

Wall Street Journal: Iran Makes the Rules— President Obama sucked up most of the media oxygen at the United Nations last week with his call for collective action against the Islamic State and other jihadists. But if anyone made real news from the General Assembly’s green-marble podium, it was Iranian President Hasan Rouhani. The fabled Iranian moderate’s unsubtle message: You’ll play by our rules now. “The people of Iran,” he said, “cannot place trust in any security cooperation between their government and those who have imposed sanctions.” That was a kick in the shins to U.S. diplomats who have made little secret of their desire to make common cause with Tehran against the Islamic State—albeit a kick dressed up as an inducement to lift the sanctions. It follows Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s claim last week that Secretary of State John Kerry is “lying” about the nature of U.S. overtures toward Iran. How’s that for improving the diplomatic mood music?

Ron Radosh: Is Obama Striking an Alliance with Iran?— Two new issues have emerged regarding the Obama administration’s policy towards ISIS, which was announced last week in President Obama’s speech to the nation. Both are connected to Iran: (a) the positions the administration will take regarding cooperation with it in fighting ISIS and (b) in negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear centrifuges. Should the United States accept Iran as a partner in its fight to “degrade and destroy” ISIS? Already, many self-proclaimed “realists” have argued for its necessity. In today’s Washington Post, Fareed Zakaria states: “If President Obama truly wants to degrade and destroy the Islamic State, he must find a way to collaborate with Iran — the one great power in the Middle East with which the United States is still at odds. Engagement with Iran – while hard and complicated — would be a strategic game-changer, with benefits spreading from Iraq to Syria to Afghanistan.”

Dennis Prager: What the Arab World Produces—At least since the early part of the 20th century, aside from oil, the Arab world has produced and exported two products. It has produced essentially no technology, medicine or anything else in the world of science. It has almost no contributions to world literature, art or to intellectual development. According to the most recent United Nations Arab Human Development Reports (2003-2005), written by Arab intellectuals, Greece, with a population of 11 million, annually translates five times more books from English than the entire Arab world, population 370 million. Nor is this a new development. The total number of books translated into Arabic during the last 1,000 years is less than Spain translates into Spanish in one year.

Steven J. Rosen: Why State Dept. Defends UNRWA’s Artificial “Refugee” Designations— Here is a paradox: UNRWA, the United Nations agency that manages the Palestinian refugee issue, follows rules that contradict United States law and policy, and its practices result in perpetuating and multiplying the refugee problem rather than resolving it. Yet the U.S. Department of State gives unquestioning support to UNRWA’s refugee designation rules, even on occasion defending them in detail. How can this be? For example, almost two million Palestinians who have long been settled in Jordan and have for decades enjoyed Jordanian citizenship, are routinely counted as “refugees” by UNRWA, and the State Department supports it. This, in spite of the fact that, under U.S. law, a person who has citizenship in the country where he resides, and enjoys the protection of that state, cannot lawfully be eligible for refugee status. How can State justify this contradiction?

Liel Leibovitz: Jews Not Allowed in Palestinian University— Last week, Amira Hass showed up at Ramallah’s Birzeit University to attend a conference entitled “Alternatives to Neo-Liberal Development in the Occupied Palestinian Territories—Critical Perspectives.” Hass is a columnist for Haaretz; alone among all Israeli journalists, she has lived both in Ramallah and in Gaza, and her work, often sympathetic to the Palestinian cause, has earned her the World Press Freedom Hero Award from the International Press Institute, alongside other coveted laurels. Yet when Hass sat down at the conference, she was surprised to learn her hosts had other plans. “During the first presentation on Tuesday,” she wrote in a candid account, “two lecturers from the CDS approached me within ten minutes of each other, asking me to step outside, saying that they needed to talk to me. I asked them to wait until the break, but after they asked me a third time, I stepped out of the conference hall. ‘Am I not allowed to be here?’ I asked, half-kidding, but one of the lecturers answered that there was a problem.”

Jerold Auerbach: Abbas Finds a Friend in The New York Times— In his Rosh Hashanah tirade at the UN General Assembly Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, now in the ninth year of his four-year term, calumnied Israel. Referring to the recent Gaza war launched by Hamas, he preposterously blamed the Jewish State for “a new war of genocide perpetrated against the Palestinian people.” Its “settlement activities and the occupation’s brutality,” Abbas alleged, undermined every attempt to negotiate the peace he has persistently fled. Israel, he claimed, had committed “absolute war crimes carried out before the eyes and ears of the entire world.” Indeed, it was “preparing for a new Nakba against the Palestinian people.” The “colonial occupying Power,” Abbas’s rant continued (conveniently ignoring that all Israeli soldiers and civilians were removed from Gaza in 2005), “has chosen to defy the entire world by launching its war on Gaza.” Palestinians have the “legitimate right to resist this colonial, racist Israeli occupation,” which is “unmatched in modern times.”

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Genesis 31: 39-42

39 “That which was torn of beasts I did not bring to you; I bore the loss of it myself. You required it of my hand whether stolen by day or stolen by night. 40 Thus I was: by day the heat consumed me and the frost by night, and my sleep fled from my eyes. 41 These twenty years I have been in your house; I served you fourteen years for your two daughters and six years for your flock, and you changed my wages ten times. 42 If the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had not been for me, surely now you would have sent me away empty-handed. God has seen my affliction and the toil of my hands, so He rendered judgment last night.”

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
