Why Is The Middle East Failing?

According to Roger Scruton, “young men without women and puritanical rage” are the root causes of the problems that we are facing in the Middle East, and they are why the Middle East is failing.

Puritanical rage may stem from sexual frustration.  Men know that and most women do, too.  Borrowing a phrase from Arnold Schwarzenegger, I suppose that “girly men” may not agree, but that’s a horse of a different color.

Men who are denied access to women are ticking time bombs, and there is no denying the Islamist obsession with sex:

  • If they die in jihad, they get 70 virgins in heaven. For lusty young males, that’s a real inducement.
  • They can’t even look at the face of a young Muslim woman much less her form because of burkas and gowns that cover up Muslim women completely, but they can strip and rape infidels whenever they want. After they are through, they can sell them as slaves.
  • Homosexuality is sinful in Islam, but anal intercourse with other men is okay if they aren’t near their wives. Sex with animals is okay, too, in a real pinch.

It’s no wonder that we have a hard time understanding Islamists.  Their philosophies make no sense to us, and worst of all, they think that their way of life is better than ours.  They are hell-bent on inflicting their views on us.  If we resist, they will try to kill us.

Islamists don’t listen, so talking with them is useless.  Negotiations won’t work, either, because Islamists don’t honor their word.  Lying for an Islamist is simply a way to buy time. That leaves us with only one option—and it’s not intermittent airstrikes.

King Solomon said, “That which has been is that which will be, and that which has been done is that which will be done. So there is nothing new under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 1: 9)  Stated another way, history repeats itself.

Today, we are experiencing the same thing that the world went through between about 700 A.D. and about 1500 A.D.  Atatürk changed things in Turkey, and the nation that he forged became a shining example of what a country could become.  Under Erdoğan, Atatürk’s legacy has become a thing of the past.

The solution now is the same as it was more than 500 years ago: unconditional victory.  There is no middle ground.  They have made that crystal clear.  We are fools if we don’t take them seriously.

This isn’t a game played by Queensberry rules.  It’s a grudge match with no holds barred in a fight to the death.  If you think that it’s not, you are behind the curve.

We didn’t make up the rules, but we know what they are.  Regrettably, President Obama doesn’t.  That’s part of his problem.

13--Perspectives 2

#####

Boaz Bismuth: In the right direction for once— On the night between September 22 and 23 something happened in the battle against the Islamic State group. That same night, the Americans expanded their offensive against the terrorist group in Syria. But the American pilots weren’t alone. Fighter planes from Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Bahrain joined them, and bases in Kuwait and Qatar provided logistical support for the American pilots. It was an event unprecedented in scope in the Middle East, all in one night. From that night on, it was clear that Arab nations had tacitly recognized the danger posed by jihadist Sunni terrorism, and more importantly were ready to fight it. Now the international coalition just needs to take care to keep Iran and the Assad regime in Syria out and possibly even make them the next targets in the global war on terrorism.

Agence-France Presse: US hits jihadists in Syria, Al-Qaeda threatens coalition—The Al-Nusra Front, Al-Qaeda’s Syrian franchise, has threatened reprisals against nations participating in air strikes against the Islamic State group, denouncing them as “a war against Islam.” Group spokesman Abu Firas al-Suri said in a video posted online on Saturday the states involved had “committed a horrible act that is going to put them on the list of jihadist targets throughout the world.” The warning came as the US-led coalition widened its air strikes against the IS group in Syria, as British warplanes flew their first anti-jihadist combat missions over neighbouring Iraq.

Yossi Melman: Israel increasingly anxious over world’s flexibility to nuclear Iran—As Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu departed to address the UN General Assembly in New York on Sunday, and to meet with US President Barack Obama, the fear in Israel was mounting with regard to the warming ties between Iran and the United States. Amid the struggle against Islamic State, there were more and more indications that the US and the Western powers were willing to relax their position regarding Iran’s nuclear program. This impression became stronger following the reports that the US is coordinating with Iran in its aerial assaults on Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. Israel is worried that the offers made to Iran in the negotiations over its nuclear program, which Iran has rejected as unsatisfactory, demonstrate the world powers’ willingness to accept the Islamic Republic as a “threshold nuclear power” just a screws-turn away from possessing a nuclear bomb. Israel’s anxiety was apparent on Wednesday when Intelligence Minister Yuval Steinitz revealed classified information with the permission of a military censor that is friendly to the government and more strict to the media. Steinitz revealed that Iran has used its Parchin military base as the site for secret tests of technology that could be used only for detonating a nuclear weapon.

Elliott Abrams: Does Obama mean what he says?— U.S. President Barack Obama gave a wonderful speech last week to the Clinton Global Initiative, about ‎civil society. Here are some of the things he said:‎ “Promoting civil society that can surface issues and push leadership is not just in keeping ‎with our values, it’s not charity. It’s in our national interests. Countries that respect human ‎rights — including freedom of association — happen to be our closest partners. That is not ‎an accident. Conversely, when these rights are suppressed, it fuels grievances and a sense ‎of injustice that over time can fuel instability or extremism. So I believe America’s support ‎for civil society is a matter of national security.‎…”

Richard Baehr: The Obama narrative collapses— Several sophisticated polling analysts, including Nate Silver of fivethirtyeight.com and Sam Wang of the Princeton Election Consortium are hinting that Republican prospects for the fall ‎midterm U.S. congressional elections are improving. This is occurring despite significant advantages ‎in money raised and spent by Democratic candidates and the various campaign ‎organizations that support their candidates as compared to Republican ‎candidates and their support organizations. ‎One key issue that seems to have bolstered Republican prospects is the collapse of ‎support for the president’s immigration reform proposal or proposed executive ‎action on immigration. President Barack Obama promised various lobbying groups for ‎immigration reform that he would take action independent of Congress, as he has ‎in so many other areas, including allowing 5 million to 6 million illegal immigrants (about ‎half the total number in the country) to remain in the United States, without fear of ‎prosecution or deportation, and with the ability to work legally. While presidents ‎have some discretion in implementation of laws passed by Congress, the proposed ‎changes made even Democrats nervous, enough so that the president decided he ‎would delay his action until after the November elections. Why get voters even ‎angrier at him, so that even more Democratic candidates for House and Senate ‎seats go down to defeat?

Rebecca Shimoni Stoil: Abbas woos his home crowd, alienates Israel, ‘fires’ the US— One narrative surrounding Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s Friday address to the United Nations General Assembly could begin with his entry to an earlier session in the plenary hall. Abbas, striding through the UN’s corridors Wednesday, reached the doors to the plenary together with his sizable security detail to attend the General Assembly’s opening speeches. The guards at the doors to the room told him that he could go in — but that those guys he came with needed to go around to the other door. Abbas entered. Behind him, a brief scuffle broke out between his entourage and the UN guards. Safely inside the room, such minor unpleasantnesses literally behind him, Abbas was somehow above the fray, an elder statesman representing his people to a largely sympathetic audience. This is the Abbas who makes speeches at New York universities, and is a trendy figure for student crowds interested in the Palestinian cause. He’s a statesman, one of the good guys. Those pushy, aggressive guys he comes with? They’re not really part of the picture at all….

David Horovitz: Since Abbas is no partner, Israel should help try to produce one— We didn’t need Mahmoud Abbas’s ghastly “genocide” speech to the United Nations General Assembly on Friday to make plain that this is a man with whom Israel cannot reach viable terms for co-existence and a two-state solution. His unleashing of incendiary false accusations before the watching world was particularly despicable, but this was only the worst in a long series of vicious speeches calculated to exacerbate the hostility to the very fact of Israel’s existence among his own people, across the region, and indeed worldwide. More substantively, while not personally fostering terrorism, Abbas has long since proved disinclined to counter the uncompromising narrative that his late and unlamented predecessor Yasser Arafat bequeathed the Palestinians — namely, that there was no Jewish temple in Jerusalem, and that the Jewish people thus have no sovereign legitimacy here. Under his rule, as under Arafat’s, most aspects of normalized relations with Israel and Israelis are discouraged, and Palestinian media routinely demonizes and delegitimizes Israel.

Yossi Nachemi: Free speech, real crisis— Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s speech to the United Nations General Assembly on Friday was divisive, to say the least. In it, he accused Israel of genocide in Gaza and declared that he would go to the Security Council to guarantee Palestinian statehood. And in the first editions since the speech, the Israeli papers both report and lament Abbas’s choice of words. Left-leaning Haaretz plays it straight in its headline, “The crisis between Israel and the Palestinian Authority deepens following Abbas’s General Assembly speech.” Why the crisis? The paper highlights the Abbas’s charge of genocide and his statement that Palestinians “will not forget and will not forgive.” The paper also includes a greatest hits list of the statements from the speech including, “Israel is responsible for war crimes committed in the last war in Gaza, which were broadcast live around the world.” The paper’s Chemi Shalev writes that Abbas’s audience wasn’t the West, but rather Ramallah, Gaza, and across the Muslim world. Abbas was trying to show that he too could be a “bulldog” like Hamas’s leaders. Shalev writes that “undoubtedly the speech reflects pent-up rage in the wake of the carnage in Gaza, as well as his own opinion that in Netanyahu he has no partner for peace.”

Howard Feldman: Liverpool and the Jews: Do we walk alone?— It might be that it is all part of my midlife crises. It might be that I have simply grown up enough to be able to be a kid again or it might be simply that I have, at 45 (ok, 46) started to watch and enjoy “the beautiful game.” Of course it needs to be said that Sepp Blatter and his megalomaniacal tendencies have me riveted more than the game does, but enjoy it I now do. And my team of choice, is Liverpool. So that’s the preamble. I have no history of being a supporter. I have no real knowledge but I am getting into it. And then… Last week. Liverpool wished me a Shanah Tovah. Ok, maybe not only me but also their other Jewish supporters. But I was pleased. It made me feel good. It made me feel visible and appreciated. And then… Before it could properly [be] shared it was gone. Quicker than the Desmond Tutu article on the South Africa Jewish Report (the one where he was compared to Stalin and Hitler). Gone. And the reason? Because of the hate responses that they received. Hate tweets for wishing their Jewish fans a good year. And they buckled and they removed it. They removed a tweet not about Israel. Not about “the conflict”. A tweet that was not anti-Islam but simply one that wished their Jewish fans a sweet new year.

Sandy Einstein: The Hollywood Mogul Who Saved My Father’s Life— A few years ago, looking through my late parents’ papers, I spotted something I’d never noticed before. It was a 1937 letter from my father addressed to Carl Laemmle, the founder of Universal Studios. I knew a little about Laemmle’s relationship with my father, who had passed away in 1965 and never spoke much about his past. He had told me that Laemmle had helped him leave Germany, and that he’d gone on to teach Hebrew to Laemmle’s son, Carl Jr. But after I came across that letter, I wanted to find out more. An Internet search led me to a scholarly article titled “Laemmle’s List.” The author, Dr. Udo Bayer, was the vice principal of a school in Laemmle’s birthplace of Laupheim, Germany. His paper detailed how Laemmle had issued affidavits during the late 1930s that saved more than 300 European Jews from probable extinction. Laemmle not only pledged to support the newcomers; he followed through when the immigrants arrived. After I contacted Bayer, he offered to translate the rest of my father’s letters, and I soon found out more about his escape from Germany, and his relationship with the man who saved his life.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Genesis 31: 33-35

33 So Laban went into Jacob’s tent and into Leah’s tent and into the tent of the two maids, but he did not find them. Then he went out of Leah’s tent and entered Rachel’s tent. 34 Now Rachel had taken the household idols and put them in the camel’s saddle, and she sat on them. And Laban felt through all the tent but did not find them. 35 She said to her father, “Let not my lord be angry that I cannot rise before you, for the manner of women is upon me.” So he searched but did not find the household idols.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
