You Can’t be For Yahweh and Against Israel and Jewish People

The BBC reported that the U.N. is about to launch an investigation into IS human rights abuses.

What took them so long?

U.N. higher-ups must have been preoccupied with Israeli human rights abuses in Gaza.  You know the ones: they attacked terrorists who were firing rockets and mortars from mosques and U.N. schools.  They also attacked sites where Hamas terrorists forced human shields to stay put while they did their dirty work.

The BBC article has an interesting title: “Iraq crisis: Acts of inhumanity on unimaginable scale—UN”.  Given the videos that IS has posted showing beheadings and mass murders, I can imagine almost anything, so there must be more gruesome things that I don’t know about.

Besides, the IS problem has been reported widely for many months.  What instigated the U.N. response at this late date?

Was it the beheading of James Foley?

Was it the torture, murder, beheading, and systematic rape of women, and men I think, in Iraq particularly in the Kurdistan region?  Remember that an imam declared that sodomy is okay for jihadists if they are too far away from their wives.

I don’t know which incident or incidents prompted the U.N. to finally do something, but this much is certain: trusting the U.N. to investigate Islamist butchery is like trusting the fox to guard the henhouse.  Most U.N. member nations are headed by people like Hamas chief Khaled Mashaal.

What’s the difference between Hamas and IS?  I’m glad you asked.  Hamas wears green headbands and IS wears black headbands.

The Islamist threat to the world is real.  It involves IS, Hamas, Fatah, the Muslim Brotherhood, al-Qaida, and a long list of other Islamist groups with menacing names.

It’s global.  It’s coordinated.  It has already infiltrated the borders of Europe and the U.S.  It is responsible for the trouble throughout the Middle East and North Africa.  Most important of all, its primary aim is to destroy Israel and Jewish people.

Both Israel and Jewish people are central to the fulfillment of Yahweh’s promises.  Islamist terrorists are following their master, and his goal is to prevent the fulfillment of those promises.  He can’t win, but as everyone must know by now, he can do a lot of damage by just trying.

To refresh your memory, you can review Yahweh’s promises here: Yahweh’s Promises Concerning the Promised Land.

Everyone must choose a side.  There is no middle ground.  Either you are for Yahweh or you are against Him.  Money can’t buy you out of choosing, and not deciding is a decision against Yahweh.

This is a spiritual war.  Those who are spiritually blind can’t see it.  The spiritually conscious can see it, not perfectly but well enough.

Albert Einstein said that our perception of time is a “persistent illusion.”  He meant that the absolute scale of time is beyond most people’s ability to comprehend because it doesn’t make sense using sequential logic—that’s normal human logic.

For example, consider this question: your grandfather died in 1979 and your father died in 2005.  Both of them went to heaven.  Which one got their first?

Sequential logic suggests that your grandfather had to get there first because he died first.  Based on his knowledge of physics, Einstein believed that they got there at the same time.

People who can’t see the spiritual dimension have a narrow perspective on time and space.  The here and now is what they can see, and it’s the only thing that matters. To them, the past is history and the future is a blur at best. They don’t understand that in absolute terms past, present, and future take place at the same time.

This may sound like gobbledygook, but I assure you that it’s not.

Yahweh is omniscient.  Omniscient means all-knowing, but it also means all-seeing.  Yahweh sees the past, present, and future all at once.  In other words, He sees time on an absolute scale.

Yahweh doesn’t guess about what is going to happen, and He wasn’t predicting when He made those promises to Abraham.  He was explaining.

Nothing that IS or any other group or entity does can prevent Yahweh from fulfilling His promises.  So, are you for Him or against Him?

More than anything else, your heart’s desire for Israel and Jewish people determines the answer to that question, because they have everything to do with Yahweh’s promises.

You can’t be for Yahweh and against the fulfillment of His promises.  That means you can’t be for Yahweh and against Israel and Jewish people.

Psalm 37: 4 says, “Delight yourself in Yahweh; and He will give you the desires of your heart.”  That does not mean that He will give you everything you want.  It means that He will give you the correct desires—His desires.  I’ll go one step further: all of Yahweh’s children have His desires.  He makes sure that they do.

Keep in mind that many Nazis in Hitler’s Germany were professing Christians.  Some of them were heavily involved in Hitler’s attempt to exterminate the Jewish race.  They were deluding themselves.  They weren’t any more Christian than Osama bin Laden or Khaled Mashaal.

Many people who claim to be Christians will back off if tell them what Yahweh actually said.

Some of them will turn and run away so fast that it will make your head spin.

When that happens, it saddens me, but remember what He said:

  • Matthew 7: 21-23—“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’”
  • Romans 9: 27-28—Isaiah cries out concerning Israel, “THOUGH THE NUMBER OF THE SONS OF ISRAEL BE LIKE THE SAND OF THE SEA, IT IS THE REMNANT THAT WILL BE SAVED; FOR THE LORD WILL EXECUTE HIS WORD ON THE EARTH, THOROUGHLY AND QUICKLY.”

In Luke 16: 19-31, the Messiah told a parable to which most Christians can relate because they have personal experience:

“Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day. And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores, and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich man’s table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores.

Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried. In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’

But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us.’

And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father’s house— for I have five brothers—in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’

But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’

But he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!’

But he said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’”

Regrettably, salvation is not for everyone, even for some members of our families, and there isn’t a thing we can do about it.  Pray for them, but it’s not up to you.  It’s up to them.  They will make a choice and their choice will determine their eternal destiny.

Today, people who believe Yahweh’s word are thought of by many as being backward. President Obama thinks that way.  He once ridiculed people who, using his words, “cling to religion and guns.”  Regardless of what he may say to win political support, his words betray him, and he has betrayed Yahweh, Israel, and Jewish people.

By ignoring the Islamist threat to the United States for so long, he has also betrayed the American people and his constitutional oath of office.  Some have argued that he did it by design and they attribute it to a sinister purpose.  I don’t know that, but I am confident that he has exposed our nation to great risk because the facts don’t line up with his preconceived notions.

Be that as it may, 1 Corinthians 2: 9 says, “Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, and the mind of man has not imagined what Yahweh has prepared for those who love Him.”  The same holds true for those who don’t love Him.  They can’t imagine what He has in store for them.

Caroline Glick: The unfinished war— The war with Hamas is not over. What we are experiencing today is a temporary cease-fire. The most basic reason the war is not over is because Hamas has no existence outside its war against the Jewish state. Hamas exists to obliterate Israel. The goal of each round of fighting is to soften Israel up for the next round. Hamas will only stop fighting when it is defeated. And Israel did not defeat Hamas. Not only did Israel not defeat Hamas, according to Haaretz, senior IDF commanders are now lobbying the government to enable Hamas to credibly claim victory.

Yael Eckstein: Israel’s Christian Friends Are the Candle in the Darkness— When I left Israel nearly six weeks ago for my annual trip to America the rockets had already begun to fall. Just two nights before my family boarded a plane for Chicago we were frantically running for shelter as the code red siren blared, signifying an incoming missile directed at my city. The experience was truly terrifying but it was eye-opening as well. Feeling targeted and preyed on by the terrorists in Gaza enabled me to truly understand what the resilient and heroic residents of southern Israel have been experiencing for years. “You must be excited to go to America and get away from the war zone,” many friends and family members said to me as I packed my bags, surrounded by sirens and fear. But that was not why I looked forward to my trip.

Elliott Abrams: Which side is UNRWA on?— The war in Gaza has brought UNRWA, the U.N. agency dealing with Palestinian ‎‎”refugees,” back into the news — mostly because UNRWA schools were used to shoot ‎rockets at Israel.‎ The failings of UNRWA were examined here (“End UNRWA”) in December 2011, although today they seem even worse. The UNRWA ‎employees union is under Hamas control, and it’s clear that the staff is riddled with ‎Hamas “activists.” The Israeli commentator and former MK Einat Wilf ‎wrote on Sunday that “now, with the fighting over, it is time for Israel to do what it should have done ‎decades ago — remove the layer of protection and legitimacy it grants to UNRWA. ‎Israel should recognize UNRWA for what it is — a hostile Palestinian organization ‎that perpetuates the dream of the return of Palestinian refugees to Israel — and ‎treat it accordingly.‎”

SnyderTalk Comment: Not just UNRWA.  The UN.

Michael Curtis: Comparing Arab Crimes against Humanity: Hamas and ISIS— Evil has never been absent in the world, but sheer evil has reappeared in the actions – “no why here” – in recent months of two Islamist extremist groups: Hamas in Gaza, and ISIS or ISIL in Iraq and Syria. The extent of the evil of the two groups differs in the number of overt actions, but the intent to fulfill their objectives is similar.  Hamas has openly declared its main objective: to kill Jews and eliminate the State of Israel.  ISIS has established a brutal Islamic caliphate in the areas it has conquered and is engaged in pursuing a war of jihad. What is a cause of surprise, indeed amazement, is the different response of the U.N. Human Rights Council to these two evils.

Assaf Kamar: Hamas Fires at Sick Gazans Trying to Leave for Medical Treatment— “Sick and wounded Palestinians, including some children, try to come into Israel to receive medical treatment and Hamas fires on them,” said the manager of the Erez crossing Shlomo Tzaban, referring to instances in which Hamas rockets were fired on the border crossing.

Khalil Shikaki: Palestinian Poll: 79 Percent Believe Hamas Won the Gaza War—According to a poll in the West Bank and Gaza conducted on Aug. 26-30, 79% believe that Hamas won the Gaza war and that Israel was responsible for the war. 86% support the launching of rockets from Gaza; 60% say that Hamas does not launch rockets from populated areas. 54% say they supported the killing of the three Israeli teens kidnapped in June 2014 in the West Bank, while support for their killing reached 69% among Gazans. 72% favor the transfer of Hamas’ armed approach to the West Bank.

Elder of Ziyon: The Islamic Jihad Terror Ambulance— On Aug. 2, the “human rights” NGO PCHR – one of the sources considered reliable by the UN – wrote: “At approximately 15:30 (August 1), Israeli warplanes bombarded an ambulance of the Ministry of Health. As a result, 3 health workers were killed: ‘Aatef Saleh al-Zameli, 42, the driver; Yousef Ejmai’an al-Zameli, 33, a nurse; and Yousef Jaber Darabih, 25, a volunteer paramedic.” Israel attacked an ambulance! War crime! Except for one thing: All three people killed were Islamic Jihad terrorists.

Soeren Kern: Why Europe Must Not Be Trusted to Monitor Hamas— European leaders are calling for a greater European role in enforcing the cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. They say their focus should be not only on rebuilding Gaza, but also on monitoring the demilitarization of Hamas and helping to secure the border crossings between the Gaza and Egypt to ensure that Hamas cannot be rearmed. But if the European experience with Hezbollah in Lebanon is any indication, not only will Hamas not be disarmed, it will be rearmed as European monitors look on and do nothing. French President François Holland, in a major foreign policy speech in Paris on August 28, said Europe should play a greater role in Gaza. “Since 2002, Europe has done a lot to rebuild and develop Palestine […] but it cannot simply be a cashier used to heal the wounds after a recurring conflict,” he said.

Debalina Ghoshal: INF Treaty Coming Apart?— After the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, when the Soviet Union and the United States were on the brink of a nuclear catastrophe, both parties apparently realized the need for some nuclear arms control measures. The Intermediate-Rage Nuclear Forces Treaty [INF], which came into force in December 1987, requires that both the Soviet Union and the United States eliminate their ground-launched, nuclear-capable ballistic and cruise missiles of ranges between 500-5500 km. In recent times, however, both parties to the treaty, the United States and Russia, have accused one another of failure to comply with it. The U.S. has apparently been “concerned” regarding Russia’s compliance with the treaty since 2011.

Dan Margalit: Middle Eastern muck, Obama stuck— Following the murderous rampaging by Islamist radicals, the Jerusalem-based Shalem Center issued a reminder this week that in 2003 it published a Hebrew translation of Professor Samuel Huntington’s “Clash of Civilizations.” Huntington wrote the book in response to Professor Francis Fukuyama’s analysis, whereby the fall of Soviet communism would usher in an era of prosperity and happiness, and democratic-liberal dominance. Huntington began lecturing, wrote an article, and finally a book contradicting Fukuyama’s prognostications. He predicted that a ruthless religious-cultural war would replace the power struggle between the Eastern and Western blocs. This is what every Israeli sees when looking across the Syrian border at Quneitra, on the Golan Heights.

SnyderTalk Comment: Professor Huntington hit the nail on the head.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Genesis 28: 10-17

10 Then Jacob departed from Beersheba and went toward Haran. 11 He came to a certain place and spent the night there, because the sun had set; and he took one of the stones of the place and put it under his head, and lay down in that place. 12 He had a dream, and behold, a ladder was set on the earth with its top reaching to heaven; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13 And behold, Yahweh stood above it and said, “I am Yahweh, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie, I will give it to you and to your descendants. 14 Your descendants will also be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and in you and in your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed. 15 Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” 16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely Yahweh is in this place, and I did not know it.” 17 He was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.”

SnyderTalk Comment: Point 1: the place where Jacob/Israel spent the night was at the top of Mount Moriah.  Today, it’s called the Temple Mount.  The exact location is on the rock over which the Dome of the Rock was built.

Point 2: The stone that Jacob/Israel used to rest his head is called the Stone of Scone.  Sometimes it’s called the Stone of Destiny or the Coronation Stone.  It still exists, and we know exactly where it is.  It’s in Scotland in Edinburgh Castle, and it’s used during the coronations of British monarchs.  It has a long history.  If this interests you, you should do some research.  You may want to start by reading Stone of Destiny: The True Story by Ian Hamilton.

Point 3: Yahweh appeared to Jacob/Israel in a dream to confirm the promises and blessings that Isaac had passed on through him.  Do you think this is important?  Do you think those promises and blessings are still in effect?

Point 4: Jacob/Israel said, “Surely Yahweh is in this place, and I did not know it.”  He is still in that place.  His Name will reside there forever.  That should help you to understand the importance of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount to Yahweh.

Read His Name is Yahweh.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite.
