Joseph Farah—How Obama Aided ISIS:

Perhaps the single costliest, most demonstrable crime of Barack Obama’s time in office is what he did to fuel the rise of the army of the Islamic State in Syria, which now threatens to take over Syria, Iraq and other Middle East while murdering thousands and posing an extreme terrorist threat to the U.S.

Obama claims not to have seen this coming.

But others certainly did.

Two years ago, I pointed out that Obama was, in effect, siding “with al-Qaida and other Muslim Brotherhood terrorist groups in the effort to overturn the regime of Bashar Assad” by intervening in the civil war in Syria.

“As a Syrian-American myself, I have watched Bashar al-Assad and his father before him murder their own rebellious citizens,” I wrote in August 2012. “I’ve seen them turn away visitors to Syria based on their religious beliefs. I’ve seen them host various terrorist groups. I’ve seen them impose their will on neighboring Lebanon. I’ve seen them assassinate political opponents.”

For two generations, I had observed the atrocities of the Assad leadership – deploring its alliance with Iran and Hezbollah and police-state tactics.

SnyderTalk Comment: Whether by accident or by design, Obama did help ISIS.

The president’s motives matter, but I can only guess about what they are.  I won’t do that, but this much is as plain as day: the problem that Obama helped to create has mushroomed into a global threat.  It’s well-funded, fully armed, committed, and ruthless almost beyond imagining.

I said “almost beyond imagining” because they take videos of their atrocities and post them on the internet.  We don’t have to imagine.

Harald Doornbos and Jenan Moussa: Found: The Islamic State’s Terror Laptop of Doom— …But after hours upon hours of scrolling through the documents, it became clear that the ISIS laptop contains more than the typical propaganda and instruction manuals used by jihadists. The documents also suggest that the laptop’s owner was teaching himself about the use of biological weaponry, in preparation for a potential attack that would have shocked the world. The information on the laptop makes clear that its owner is a Tunisian national named Muhammed S. who joined ISIS in Syria and who studied chemistry and physics at two universities in Tunisia’s northeast. Even more disturbing is how he planned to use that education…

Daniel Polisar: Despite the fog of cease-fire Israel Has Emerged Stronger from the Gaza War— Though there was uncertainty the last couple of weeks as to when and on what terms the fighting between Israel and Hamas would end, there was little doubt what would happen immediately afterwards: Hamas’s leaders would declare victory and bring Gazans into the streets to celebrate, and Israelis would engage in public hand-wringing over whether our situation had become bleaker—as we have done following every military conflict since the Yom Kippur War four decades ago. This script was followed to a tee and while the speeches and pictures from Gaza have been utterly predictable, the Israeli media has been more interesting, its commentaries ranging from scathing criticism of the war’s outcome in venues such as Ha’aretz to thoughtful, even-handed analyses in ynet and the Times of Israel, and even an occasional piece focusing on Israeli accomplishments. Israelis appear to have replaced the simplicity of a war largely and correctly viewed as one of moral clarity with the “fog of ceasefire,” in which it is hard to determine whether the effort that brought us to this point was worthwhile.

SnyderTalk Comment: Point 1—It’s true that Israelis have come closer together politically, but let’s not forget that it was the kidnapping and murder of three Jewish teenagers by Hamas that caused it—not Operation Protective Edge.  The military campaign was a response to that brutal action more than anything else.  Rockets fired at innocent Israeli civilians and mortar rounds lobbed aimlessly across the border over years of time didn’t do it; random terrorist attacks in Jerusalem and other Israeli cities didn’t do it; but that incident struck a chord that resonated with the masses.

Point 2—Politicians can turn on a dime.  With the passage of time, the Israeli people will become just as divided as they ever were.  It’s human nature.  That’s another reason why Hamas should have been eliminated while Israel had the chance to do it with strong internal political support.

Alroy Menezes: Israelis Doubt Netanyahu’s Claim Of Victory Over Hamas— Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s claim of achieving a “great military and political” victory over Hamas in the country’s latest battle against the Islamist group in the Gaza Strip has been met with skepticism from many Israelis, according to the results of a poll published Wednesday. The poll conducted by left-leaning Israeli newspaper Haaretz showed that 54 percent of respondents believed there was no clear winner in the 50-day offensive between the two sides. About 25 percent of respondents said Israel had won the war while 16 percent of those polled believed Hamas had prevailed. Five percent of those surveyed were undecided.

SnyderTalk Comment: Israelis have every right to be skeptical.  I would even say “distrustful”.

Jonathan Tobin: Abbas Can’t Solve Gaza or Make Peace— While both Hamas and Israel’s government have been trying to assert that they both won the war that apparently concluded with a cease-fire agreement yesterday, a third party is attempting to stake his claim as the man who can win the peace. Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas anticipated the announcement of the cease-fire by vowing to go back to the United Nations on Monday to force Israel to withdraw from all of the West Bank as well as Jerusalem. And some in the U.S. and Israel think the best response to the end of the fighting is to further empower Abbas as a counterweight to Hamas. While this sounds logical, it would be a colossal error.

Dave Gaubatz: ISIS in America— More Americans are beginning to catch on that there are very evil people who in the name of Islam commit atrocities unimaginable to the human mind. ISIS represents Islam in its purest form. Mohammed would be smiling from ear to ear if he were able to see ISIS carrying out his planned agenda for world domination. For years I have been conducting first-hand research at mosques around the world. For years I have been warning innocent people that Islam in its purest form is being taught in the mosques. Most people have ignored the warnings and blamed the violence on just a few ‘radical Muslims’. Many people continued to believe there are moderate Muslims and Islam is being hijacked. In plain terms a moderate Muslim is a non-practicing Muslim.

Daniel Hannan: What Makes Some British Muslims Become Jihadis?—An alarming number of our young men – born and brought up in the UK – are involved with extremist paramilitaries in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. There are credible estimates that more British Muslims are fighting with Islamic State than serving in the British Armed Forces. Experts who have studied Western-born Islamic militants say each has found a cause that validates his anti-social tendencies – a doctrine that teaches him that he is angry, not because there’s something wrong with him, but because there’s something wrong with everyone else. Islamic State thugs, like Baader-Meinhof gangsters, IRA gunmen, Red Brigaders or 19th century anarchists, are convinced that they can see things more keenly than others, and that this clarity of vision elevates and ennobles their aggression. For a start, we can stop taking these losers at their own estimation. Let’s treat them, not as soldiers, but as common criminals.

Abdulrahman Al-Rashed: When It Comes to ISIS, Iranian Help Is Useless and Dangerous—A U.S. alliance with Shi’ite Iran against ISIS would push Sunni moderates to align with terrorist organizations. This would be the worst possible scenario because Sunnis are the majority of the 1 billion Muslims across the world. It would make the U.S. a target in a sectarian war, and it would bolster the position of terrorist groups. During the previous war against the Sunni al-Qaeda between 2001 and 2010, the U.S.’s major allies were Sunni-majority countries such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Pakistan. This represents a logical approach in international relations.

SnyderTalk Comment: Iran is Shia, and most Muslims are Sunni.  The only things that they hate more than they hate each other are Israel and the rest of the world.  Hate is the only thing that holds them together.  If Muslims cooperate to fight the world and win, they will turn on each other and continue killing until there is only one man standing because two people don’t agree on everything.  It’s Ultimate King of the Mountain—a game played by jihadists with real weapons.

Ben Caspit: IDF Intelligence: In Hamas’ Bunkers, They Talk About Defeat—A member of the IDF’s General Staff, who took part in building up the army’s forces and in directing Operation Protective Edge, said that Hamas “counted on the assumption that Israel wouldn’t touch a 14-story residential building filled with civilians on floors three to 14, while the three lowest floors are occupied by Hamas headquarters. In this, they erred. We felled nine such high-rises in the last days of the operation. We evacuated the population, the civilians understood that we were serious about this, and we downed those towers so that it would be clear that we would not accept terror in any form.” “Hamas emerges from this story with their hands on their heads, without a single achievement….According to all our intelligence reports, the atmosphere around them is gloomy. In their bunkers, they talk about defeat, about damage. They know that it will be hard for them to explain to their nation, for what purpose did they destroy Gaza? What exactly did they receive in exchange?”

Behnam Ben Taleblu: Don’t Forget Iran’s Ballistic Missiles— Last month, the P5+1 and Iran arranged for an extension of Joint Plan of Action (JPOA), the interim nuclear deal that was agreed to in Geneva in late 2013 and implemented in January of this year. The deal has been prolonged for four months as the parties continue to seek a comprehensive solution. Remarkably absent from the text of the JPOA, however, is a reference to the status of Iran’s ballistic missile program. The failure to discuss possible nuclear delivery mechanisms when focusing on Iran’s nuclear capability has largely been a result of Western stove-piping. In the decade-long drive for an agreement, negotiations have managed to excise the science behind Iran’s nuclear program from the strategic considerations that drove it. But the omission of ballistic missiles from the current P5+1 negotiations runs contrary to numerous United Nations Security Council resolutions (UNSCRs), which deliberately target the missile program and those who seek to aid it.

Michael Gerson: The Continuing Menace of Anti-Semitism—Many seem to think that traditional anti-Jewish attitudes have faded and that the memory of the Holocaust is overplayed. Few take note of the genocidal promises of the Hamas charter or of Iranian clerics. If you live entirely in the present, the State of Israel may seem more Goliath than David. If you have some sense of the past, it is a beleaguered island in a historical and geographical sea of violence. Detached from its story, Israel is a quarrelsome, flawed democracy on the edge of the Mediterranean. But Israel is its story – the story of slavery, statehood, expulsion, scattering, near-extermination and return – after having been unfairly chosen for more than 2,000 years for persecution and murder.

Islamic State vows to reach ‘Palestine’ and ‘kill the barbaric Jews’

Terrorism to reach Europe, US, warns Saudi king

SnyderTalk Comment: I’ve been saying this for years: you can’t run and you can’t hide, so you might as well fight.

It’s not like you have another option.  The decision was made by ISIS, and you either join them or you die.

If they ever reach your door, and that’s a real possibility, your decision not to fight will haunt you.

SnyderTalk Comment: Let me see if I have this straight.  U.N. troops are fleeing to Israel and searching for U.N. peacekeepers.  That seems strange.  The peacekeepers are supposed to be in Syria.  Maybe it’s possible that the peacekeepers fled to Israel first and the troops are going in to find them. ISIS says that it has the peacekeepers under “protection”.  What we have here, it appears to me, is a failure to communicate.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Genesis 27: 41-46

41 So Esau bore a grudge against Jacob because of the blessing with which his father had blessed him; and Esau said to himself, “The days of mourning for my father are near; then I will kill my brother Jacob.” 42 Now when the words of her elder son Esau were reported to Rebekah, she sent and called her younger son Jacob, and said to him, “Behold your brother Esau is consoling himself concerning you by planning to kill you. 43 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice, and arise, flee to Haran, to my brother Laban! 44 Stay with him a few days, until your brother’s fury subsides, 45 until your brother’s anger against you subsides and he forgets what you did to him. Then I will send and get you from there. Why should I be bereaved of you both in one day?” 46 Rebekah said to Isaac, “I am tired of living because of the daughters of Heth; if Jacob takes a wife from the daughters of Heth, like these, from the daughters of the land, what good will my life be to me?”

SnyderTalk Comment: Read His Name is Yahweh.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
