Yvette Alt Miller—Anti-Semitism in America:

On a quiet Sunday afternoon, the JCC in Overland Park, Kansas was full of kids. Some were there for a singing and dancing competition. Others were just arriving with their parents for an umpire clinic. Nearby, in Shalom Village, an assisted living facility, residents and staff were getting ready for Passover, which was starting the following night.

The calm of that afternoon of April 13, 2014 was shattered when Frazier Glenn Cross, a 73 year old white supremacist with a history of founding racist, anti-Semitic, paramilitary organizations, strode into both buildings, shooting at adults and children alike. A father who was visiting the JCC that day with his young son described the scene: “All of the sudden we heard a gunshot, a pretty loud gunshot… I turned to look to my right and I can see a man standing outside a car with a shotgun, what to me looked like a shotgun, and there was somebody laying on the ground.”

By the time the rampage was over, three people were dead: William Corporon, a local doctor; his 14-year-old grandson, Reat Underwood, who’d been looking forward to competing in the JCC’s singing competition; and Terri LaManno, who was visiting her elderly mother in Shalom Village.

SnyderTalk Comment: Some of those among us who believe that the Law is not relevant for Christians completely misunderstand this verse, and they use it to support their misguided theology.

What does walking after the Spirit mean? Walking after the Spirit means walking in obedience to Yahweh and not in disobedience.

What does the Bible say about those who walk in disobedience? It says that they are lawless. Lawlessness is the exact opposite of walking after the Spirit.

What does the Bible say about those who walk in obedience to Yahweh’s Law? It says that the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

Does that mean we can earn our way to heaven by trying to be obedient? Not at all. It simply means that Yahweh’s children are led by His Spirit to walk in obedience to His will.

You can tell the tree by its fruit.

Richard Baehr: Obama’s credibility is gone— A new Fox News poll suggests that 61 percent of Americans think their president is a liar. This poll test was not the kind of softer characterization of a politician in terms of whether he or she is honest and trustworthy. This large majority of voters thinks Barack Obama lies about significant things most of the time or some of the time. Perhaps the most astounding component of the survey results is that 38% of Democrats think Obama is a liar.

Dr. Reuven Berko: Abbas’ fictional state— Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has heard about the latest videotape by al-Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahri, in which Zawahri calls Abbas a “traitor who is selling out Palestine,” and has gotten cold feet. But even without the tape, Abbas can imagine what the Islamists have in store for him, and his threat to “give the keys to the Palestinian Authority back to Israel” reflects the overall air of doom and gloom shared by him and his people over the crisis plaguing the peace talks.

Shlomo Cesana: Abbas, leading to nowhere— “The interest of everyone is that all parties remain at the negotiating table,” we’ve been told in recent weeks. For the Palestinians, the talks enable the continued flow of cash from the U.S. and Arab League, as well a lack of responsibility for security on the ground in areas where Israeli security forces operate. For Israel, the talks buy quiet in the international arena and maintain the status quo in the governing coalition. However, it may be that these interests are no longer relevant and a new reality is approaching, with both sides understanding that the talks need to be halted.

Daniel Siryoti, Shlomo Cesana, Mati Tuchfeld and Israel Hayom Staff: Abbas must choose between Hamas and Israel— Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday that Palestinian Authority President and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas must choose whether he wants peace with Hamas or peace with Israel — but he cannot have both. “I hope he chooses peace; so far he hasn’t done so,” the prime minister said.

David J. Lynch: China Defies Obama’s Slow Asia Pivot With Rapid Military Buildup—President Barack Obama’s trip to Asia this week will be dominated by a country he’s not even visiting: China. Each of the four nations on the president’s itinerary is involved in territorial disputes with an increasingly assertive China. And years of military spending gains have boosted the capabilities of the People’s Liberation Army faster than many defense analysts expected, casting a shadow over relations between China and its neighbors and sparking doubts about long-term prospects for the U.S. presence in the Pacific.

Douglas Murray: Who are the Victims and Who Are the Victimizers?: How Do You Protest if the Protestors are Muslim?— One year after the bombs went off at the Boston marathon, Brandeis authorities were so intent on avoiding the issues those bombs had raised, that they would rather point the finger at a critic of the radical ideology than do anything to criticize the ideology. Is not the Palestinian leadership a viable negotiating partner with whom peace is just about to be achieved? How do you protest if the protesters are Muslims? Who are the victims and who are the victimizers? After all, “victims” cannot victimize, can they? When we see a global bigotry and hatred such as this, we should identify it as such and demand, in the name of all that is decent, that it stop.

Gideon Israel: Why Negotiations Can’t Succeed— Almost nine months have passed since negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians were renewed. Since the content of the negotiations remains confidential it is difficult to gauge if actual ‘progress’ was achieved. In Israel, the political right points to the Palestinian Authority as the reason for the failure of negotiations, while the political left still wants to pursue the negotiations believing that it is critical to reach an agreement, while also blaming Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the settlements, construction announcements for  the failure of negotiations.

Nadia Hilou and Manal Hreib: Israel’s Electoral Threshold: Implications for Israeli-Arab Political Representation— On March 18, 2014, the Knesset passed the Governance Law, raising the electoral threshold from 2 to 3.25 percent. All the coalition factions joined together to pass the law by a majority of 67 MKs. All the opposition factions opposed it, including the Arab parties, which argued that it would make it difficult for them to be elected to the Knesset in the future. The question now is, will the law prevent the Arab parties from reaching the electoral threshold and thereby preclude their representation in the forthcoming Knesset? Or, will the law prompt the Arab parties to join forces, which would thereby likely increase the number of Arab MKs? However, in order for the Arab parties to unite, a new political leadership is needed that has both the power to lead and outline its vision and the ability to address the needs of the Arab street.

Brian Greene: The History Of The Big Bang Theory—For six months each year, the perennially dark and wind-swept plains of the southern polar ice cap have an average temperature of about 58 degrees Fahrenheit below zero. In summer, when the sun returns for its six-month-long day, the glacial terrain hardly becomes more inviting, with temperatures climbing to minus 20 degrees. Not the kind of place most of us would choose to visit. But if you’re an astronomer seeking a collection of photons that have been streaming toward us since just after the Big Bang, then the South Pole’s Dark Sector Laboratory is what the Met is to opera or Yankee Stadium to baseball. It’s the premier place to practice your trade. With the coldest and driest air on earth, the atmosphere lets photons travel virtually unimpeded, providing the sharpest terrestrial-based space images ever taken.

Fred Barbash: An ‘abomination:’ Slaughter in the mosques and churches of Bentiu, South Sudan—There is no body count for the city of Bentiu in South Sudan, perhaps because there are too many to count. The news from the United Nation’s mission in South Sudan only describes “piles and piles” of bodies. Other reports speak of streets  ”littered” with bodies. A mosque was filled with hundreds of bodies. More inside the Catholic church. Bodies in the hospital. “A strong stench of decomposing remains filled the air, while vultures and dogs ate off limbs, scalps and abdomen flesh,” said one report.

SnyderTalk Comment: Regrettably for the U.S., it’s too late.  The damage is done already.

Our clout is falling rapidly in the Middle East, in Europe, and in Asia.  We have only ourselves to blame.  We should have used better judgment when Obama and Hillary Clinton told us that they were going to hit the reset button.  Well, they did it, and now we are getting what we deserve.

Our country’s allies all over the world and especially Israel are suffering because of our foolishness.  Can the damage be undone?  I don’t know, but I do know this: if it can be, it will take some time.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Genesis 3: 8-13

8 They heard the sound of Yahweh Elohim walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of Yahweh Elohim among the trees of the garden. 9 Then Yahweh Elohim called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 He said, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.” 11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 12 The man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate.” 13 Then Yahweh Elohim said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
