Turkey Abandoning Atatürk

In just a few short years under Islamist control, the legacy of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk has been all but wiped out in Turkey.  Atatürk is arguably the greatest Turk ever to have lived, and he is a shining example of real progressivism.

Atatürk is to the raging hordes of contemporary “progressives” including Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan what Martin Luther King, Jr. is to Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.  Atatürk and King are as different from those impostors as the sun is from the moon.  Those wannabes are dim and distorted reflections — cheap imitations of the real thing.

The inept Erdoğan has shown us that under his corrupt “leadership,” the dismantling of progressive-leaning Turkey can be done in a short while. Regrettably, another Dark Age isn’t out of the question for Turkey, and the West is heading in the same direction.

According to Andrew Katz,

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan escaped from a sweeping graft probe at home to visit Iran in hopes of easing tensions over the region’s handling of Syria’s civil war, state media reported Wednesday.

Erdogan flew to Iran with a delegation of economy, energy and foreign ministers to meet with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani. The election of Rouhani last June has led to improved ties with the West even as he and Western leaders remain starkly divided on the Syrian conflict.

Caroline Glick says that Turkey is gone for good,

Over the past 10 years, and with ever increasing brutality, paranoia and intensity, Erdogan has sought to destroy all independent power bases in the country. He purged the military by placing hundreds of generals in prison in his delusional Ergenekon conspiracy in which they were accused of seeking to overthrow his Islamist government.

He has destroyed most of the independent media in the country and sent hundreds of journalists and editors to prison.

The same is the case with independent businessmen.

After desperately but unsuccessfully trying to showcase himself as a modern-day Saladin, Erdoğan’s dictatorial maneuvers at home and his kowtowing to the mullahs in Iran would be laughable if they were not such important strategic blunders in the most volatile region of the world.

With elections in Turkey just a few weeks away, let’s hope that Glick is wrong and that the Turkish people set their country on a better course — one that Atatürk could endorse.

The Hebrew word that’s translated as “apple” in this verse (בָּבַת in Hebrew, baw-baw’ phonetically in English) actually means pupil.  It’s the most sensitive part of the eye. This is a strong warning about tampering with Israel or doing anything that brings harm to her. As a country, the United States is leading a “peace process” that is doing and will continue to do just that.

S. Fred Singer: Climate Consensus Con Game— At the outset, let’s be quite clear: There is no consensus about dangerous anthropogenic global warming (DAGW) — and there never was.  There is not even a consensus on whether human activities, such as burning fossil fuels to produce useful energy, affect global climate significantly.  So what’s all this fuss about? Let’s also be quite clear that science does not work by way of consensus.  Science does not progress by appeal to authority; in fact, major scientific advances usually come from outside the consensus; one can cite many classic examples, from Galileo to Einstein.  [Another way to phrase this issue: Scientific veracity does not depend on fashionable thinking.]  In other words, the very notion of a scientific consensus is unscientific.

AFP: Science, religion go hand-in-hand in US— Science and religion can mix easily in the United States, a relatively religious country, a survey released Sunday found. The study by Rice University, in Texas, polled more than 10,000 Americans, including scientists and evangelical Protestants. “We found that nearly 50 percent of evangelical (Christians) believe that science and religion can work together and support one another,” sociologist Elaine Howard Ecklund said.

Shadi Paveh: Iran: Behind Rouhanis’s Smile, Reza Shahabi Tortured In Prison— Since the Islamic Republic of Iran has continuously violated labor laws, workers have been fighting for unions, fair wages and safe working conditions inside the country. As a result, a number of labor activists have been arrested, tortured and given long prison sentences on charges of acting “against the regime and national security.” Mr. Reza Shahabi was a city bus driver when, along with many of his colleagues, he formed a labor rights group for The Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company. He was arrested in 2010 and subsequently sentenced to six years imprisonment by the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Tehran—five years for “gathering and colluding against state security,” and one year for “spreading propaganda against the system.”

Gabi Siboni and Ram Ben-Barak: The Sinai Peninsula Threat Development and Respond Concept— The security vacuum that emerged following the Egyptian revolution of 2011 and then intensified after the coup that removed President Morsi from power in July 2013 has created a fertile environment for Islamist militants, effectively rendering the Sinai Peninsula a new front in a region rife with conflict. In the face of increasing cross-border attacks from Sinai, Israel has refrained from taking offensive measures on Egyptian soil, so as not to jeopardize the peace with Egypt. However, Hamas and other Gaza-based Islamist militants have taken advantage of Israel’s restraint and increasingly use the peninsula as an operational platform through which to target Israel, creating operative synergy between Gaza and Sinai.

Edward Bernard Glick: Palestinian Irredentism and the Anti-Israel Double Standard—If the Palestinians want to crush the Israelis and expel their sovereign state from the Middle East, they will have to do it not on the wobbly field of public opinion, but on the only field that really matters: the field of battle.

Dovid Efune: The Peace Process and Tony Blair’s Forgotten Speech— Shortly after it was announced recently that the U.S. Justice Department would seek the death penalty against surviving Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, I received an email that made my head spin. A public relations firm was pitching a lawyer to comment on the Justice Department’s decision. According to the press statement this is what he had to say: “The timing of Attorney General Holder’s announcement couldn’t be worse; with the world on edge and apprehensive about security at Sochi. The administration is pouring gasoline on the fire by saying we’re going to kill somebody who could widely be considered a martyr in the Muslim world.”

Udi Dekel and Orit Perlov: The Saudi Arabia and Kuwait “Outposts Project”: Al-Qaeda and Its Affiliates— Discourse on the Gulf social networks suggests that the challenge to Middle East stability, be it by the revolutionaries operating against the national state structure or by civil wars dominated by the ethnic conflicts between Sunnis and Shiites, along with a deep mistrust regarding United States willingness to support its regional allies in a crisis, has pushed the Gulf states into a corner in terms of their ability to maneuver. Consequently, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have opted for the policy of supporting Islamist opposition groups fighting Assad, Malaki, and Nasrallah. Gradually, the Saudis have come to the conclusion that they must develop their own proxies in order to influence the regional dynamics for their own benefit. The logic is that destructive forces, rather than constructive forces, have an increasingly significant role in shaping the future of the Middle East and in establishing a radical Sunni axis to counter and ultimately break the Shiite axis.

Yvette Alt Miller: Skating to Schindler’s List—Russian figure skater Yulia Lipnitskaya’s breathtaking Olympic performance was memorable for many reasons. Flawlessly executing one demanding move after another, the 15 year old protégée became one of the youngest skaters ever to win the gold; her free skating routine brought the Olympic crowd to its feet and earned her a standing ovation. But Lipnitskaya’s choice of music and costume has provoked comments too.

Brad Knickerbocker: Why is Mitt Romney talking about Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky?— Ever since Sen. Rand Paul (R) of Kentucky began railing about Bill Clinton being a “predator” for his affair 16 years ago with White House intern Monica Lewinsky – and, more to the point as the next presidential election approaches, trying to connect the former president’s past to 2016 Democratic front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton – other Republicans have been asked to comment….

Jeannie DeAngelis: Sandbagging Princes Shame King and Queen Obama— Just when you thought it couldn’t get any more embarrassing for America’s self-appointed monarchs, His Highness King Barack and the Sovereign Queen Michelle, two kids go and shame them in front of the whole world. This time British Princes William and Harry did the honors.

70 Iranian Lawmakers Want Zarif to Explain Why he Said the Holocaust ‘Should Not Happen Again’

Abbas to Israeli students: I am not a Holocaust denier

SnyderTalk Comment—Abbas is lying, again.  This is from his dissertation titled The Connection between the Nazis and the Leaders of the Zionist Movement 1933-1945: “Following the war, word was spread that six million Jews were amongst the victims and that a war of extermination was aimed primarily at the Jews … The truth is that no one can either confirm or deny this figure. In other words, it is possible that the number of Jewish victims reached six million, but at the same time it is possible that the figure is much smaller–below one million…The historian and author, Raoul Hilberg, thinks that the figure does not exceed 890,000…It seems that the interest of the Zionist movement, however, is to inflate this figure so that their gains will be greater…This led them to emphasize this figure [six million] in order to gain the solidarity of international public opinion with Zionism. Many scholars have debated the figure of six million and reached stunning conclusions–fixing the number of Jewish victims at only a few hundred thousand.”

Only a Holocaust denier would make such idiotic assertions.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Zechariah 6: 1-8

Now I lifted up my eyes again and looked, and behold, four chariots were coming forth from between the two mountains; and the mountains were bronze mountains. With the first chariot were red horses, with the second chariot black horses, with the third chariot white horses, and with the fourth chariot strong dappled horses. Then I spoke and said to the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these, my lord?” The angel replied to me, “These are the four spirits of heaven, going forth after standing before the Lord of all the earth, with one of which the black horses are going forth to the north country; and the white ones go forth after them, while the dappled ones go forth to the south country. When the strong ones went out, they were eager to go to patrol the earth.” And He said, “Go, patrol the earth.” So they patrolled the earth. Then He cried out to me and spoke to me saying, “See, those who are going to the land of the north have appeased My wrath in the land of the north.”

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
