‘America the Stupid’ or ‘America the Judged’?

“Canada’s Top Ten List of America’s Stupidity” circulated over the internet in July and August and finally made its way to me.  Is it true?  I think so, at least most of it is.

It’s interesting that people in other countries can see what’s happening in the U.S. and think it’s a hoot.  They’re probably as amazed as I am because no nation can survive using our current logic.  It’s so obvious that you have to be completely blind spiritually and otherwise not to see it.  If we continue down this path, the U.S. is doomed, and we will take our place in the trash bin of history.

That’s why I believe that preachers can stop saying things like this to their congregations: “If God doesn’t judge America, He’ll have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.”  I think He’s judging us right now, and we need to get down on our knees and pray.  One way or another, we will end up on our knees.  Personally, I would rather be on my knees before Yahweh than before our enemies.

Be that as it may, this is “Canada’s Top Ten List of America’s Stupidity”:

10) Only in America … could politicians talk about the greed of the rich, at a $35,000.00 a plate campaign fund-raising event.

9) Only in America … could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans, when they have a black President, a black Attorney General and roughly 20% of the federal workforce is black, while only 14% of the population is black.  40-plus% of all federal entitlements go to black Americans—3  times the rate that goes to whites, 5 times the rate that goes to Hispanics.

8) Only in America … could they have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner (the head of the Treasury Department) and Charles Rangel (who once ran the Ways and Means Committee), both turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.

7) Only in America … can they have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the liberal media primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash.

6) Only in America … would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege, while they discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally, just ‘magically’ become American citizens.

5) Only in America … could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country’s Constitution be thought of as “extremists”.

4) Only in America … could you need to present a driver’s license to cash a check or buy alcohol but not to vote.

3) Only in America … could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public, because the price of gas went up, when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. oil company (Marathon Oil), is less than half of a company making tennis shoes—Nike.

2) Only in America … could the government collect more tax dollars than any nation in history, spend a trillion dollars more than it collects, and complain that it doesn’t have nearly enough money to spend.

1)  Only in America … could rich people who pay 86% of all income taxes be accused of not paying their “fair share” by people who don’t pay any income tax at all.

Steve Apfel: “Dubula iJuda”…and the lid blew off—A very telling tale from South Africa on the Israel boycotters. “Kill the Jews” had always expressed underlying sentiment. But it must never be said out loud.

Thomas Gibbons-Neff: Expert: U.S. Naval Supremacy Is in Trouble— Former U.S. Deputy Undersecretary of the Navy Seth Cropsey told an audience at the Heritage Foundation Thursday afternoon that American sea power and global projection is “in trouble.” Cropsey appeared at Heritage to highlight the release of his new book Mayday: The Decline of American Naval Supremacy. Michaela Dodge, policy analyst of defense and strategic policy at the Heritage Foundation, highlighted the current plight of U.S. naval forces before Cropsey’s speech. Under current sequestration cuts, the Navy will be reduced from approximately 285 ships to 195 in the next thirty years, Dodge said.

Ruthie Blum: See no evil— Sukkot and the triumph of good over evil — confronting and healing society’s soul in the wake of tragic infanticides.

Bruce Thornton: Watching the Middle East Implode— The revolutions against dictators in the Middle East dubbed the Arab Spring have degenerated into a complex, bloody mélange of coups and counter-coups, as have happened in Egypt; vicious civil wars, like the current conflict in Syria; a resurgence of jihadists gaining footholds in Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Sinai; and a shifting and fracturing of alliances and enmities of the sort throwing Lebanon and Jordan into turmoil. Meanwhile, American foreign policy has been confused, incompetent, and feckless in insuring that the security and interests of the United States and its allies are protected.

Yossi Beilin: Six years of utter blindness— No one was celebrating Sukkot in 1973. The Yom Kippur War was still raging, and everyone was picking up the pieces of the mythos of an impregnable Israel.

Ronen Bergman: Israel Has Best Intelligence on Syria in Western Hands—On March 10, 2013, Israeli intelligence sources began reporting that the Syrian regime had made use of chemical weapons, based on sources that eavesdropped on the Syrian army’s tactical frequencies and surveillance satellites that monitored movement out of a bunker known to contain chemical weapons.

Yoel Goldman: Israeli Nuclear Chief Warns of Iranian “Deception”—The head of the Israel Atomic Energy Commission, Shaul Chorev, told the annual meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna on Wednesday: “The picture that the Iranian representatives are portraying regarding openness and transparency of their nuclear program…stands in sharp contradiction with Iran’s actual actions and the facts on the ground.” The issue was not whether Iran has “modified its diplomatic vocabulary…but whether it is addressing seriously and in a timely manner outstanding issues that have remained unresolved for too long.”

Louis Rene Beres: After Syria – Israel’s longer-term vulnerability to chaos— For Israel, one tiny state existing among almost 200 asymmetric others, some palpable consequences of worldwide anarchy and regional disorder are inevitable. At the moment, Israel’s most urgent strategic concerns appear very precise. Plainly, it seems, they revolve around the presumed wisdom or unwisdom of developing US-Russian plans for Syria, and also the corollary implications of this putative plan for a nuclearizing Iran. Still, Israel’s chief military planners will eventually have to look beyond these singular issues, to far more generally underlying threats. Always, it is these enduring systemic perils that are potentially most important.

Emily B. Landau: Why Iran Will Only Disarm under U.S. Military Pressure—The goal of threatening to use military force is not to use it, but to effect change on the party being threatened. If this can happen without force being used, this is the best possible outcome. So it is quite unwarranted to say that President Obama projected weakness and indecision by “backing down” from his punishment threat. In fact, the U.S. got results – far better than anything that could have been achieved with a targeted and limited use of military force. But without a firm threat, the deal would not have materialized.

Amir Taheri: The Perils of an Iran Nuclear Deal—This week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov offered a preview of Moscow’s plan for “solving” the Iranian nuclear stand-off. According to Fars, a news agency owned by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, Lavrov mentioned the possibility of Iran “voluntarily” suspending uranium enrichment above the 20% level in exchange for full recognition of its right to enrich uranium.

4--Scripture of the Day USE THIS ONE

The scripture below is from the New American Standard Bible, and the hyperlinks associated with each word are from Strong’s Concordance for the New American Standard Bible.

Amos 1: 11-12

Thus says Yahweh, “For three transgressions of Edom and for four I will not revoke its [punishment], because he pursued his brother with the sword, while he stifled his compassion; his anger also tore continually, and he maintained his fury forever. So I will send fire upon Teman and it will consume the citadels of Bozrah.”

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
