Secret $8 billion deal between Obama and the Muslim Brotherhood?

If the Benghazi scandal and the IRS imbroglio were not enough, there is yet another sign on the horizon that the Obama administration is coming unglued.  Egypt Daily News reported that the president made an illicit $8 billion deal with Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood—not Egypt.  According to the report,

• SECRET agreement between the Obama administration and the Muslim Brotherhood (not the Egyptian government) to give 40% of the Sinai and the annexation of that part of Egyptian territory in Gaza. The objective is to facilitate the conclusion of a comprehensive peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians

• This agreement was signed by Khairat el Shater (number 2 of the Brotherhood) by Morsi and the Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood.

• A sum of U.S. $ 8 billion was paid in exchange for the land.

• An investigation is ongoing Morsi and El Shater. An arrest warrant was filed against the Guide to MB and other members of his office.

• MB signatories to the agreement are liable to the death penalty for treason.

• The Obama administration would try to reach an agreement with El Sissi (Defense Minister): recognition of the legitimacy of the “coup” in exchange for his silence about the secret agreement. But El Sissi would be more interested in the conviction of MB and discredit their organization which is Egypt’s main source of danger.

• The Republican members of Congress are seriously looking into the case. If proven, the process of Obama impeachment could be triggered.

If the report proves to be accurate, and I suspect that it will, we should begin to see a lot of thunder and lightning in Washington in the very near future—maybe even more heated impeachment talk.  I must confess that I have been more than surprised by the constant pressure that Obama is applying on Egypt to make room for the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt’s government.  It doesn’t make sense to me because the U.S. is the sworn enemy of the Muslim Brothers.  I also don’t understand why the Obama administration didn’t take a strong position against Morsi after it became clear that he played a crucial role in the Benghazi debacle.  However, if Obama did make the deal that is reported in Egypt Daily News, his behavior does make sense.  The alleged deal also helps to explain why the Egyptian military believed it had no choice but to oust Morsi, to arrest him, and to eventually bring him to trial because he was in the process of tearing Egypt apart literally and figuratively.

I’m not the only person who is perplexed by the Obama administration’s handling of the Egypt situation.  In an article for Israpundit, Melanie Phillips writes,

In all the welter of words about the ousting of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, very little has been written in the mainstream media about the extraordinary contortions of the Obama administration, which did so much to put the Brothers into power there in the first place. The administration’s first reaction was to threaten to cut off US aid to Egypt in order to punish the military for unseating the Muslim Brother President, Mohamed Morsi.  Then a State Department official vouchsafed that Morsi had been ‘undemocratic’, and the administration backed away from outright confrontation. Nevertheless, reports persist that the US continues to support the Brothers against the Egyptian military.  As Raymond Ibrahim reports, the US ambassador to Egypt, Anne Patterson, has come to be seen as a Brotherhood stooge:

‘… soon after the overthrow of Morsi, U.S. ambassador Anne Patterson assured Hisham Qandil, who hours ago was Egypt’s Prime Minister, that “there are many forms of pressure, and America holds the keys to the Gulf.”

‘Among other things, in the days leading to June 30, she called on Egyptians not to protest — including by meeting with the Coptic Pope and asking him to urge the nation’s Christian minority not to oppose the Brotherhood, even though Christians have naturally been the most to suffer under Morsi, especially in the context of “blasphemy” accusations.

‘Thus, and once again, the Obama administration makes indubitably clear that its primary interest in Egypt is to see the Muslim Brotherhood stay in power, the Egyptian people’s will — the will of tens of millions of secularists, liberals, moderates, and Christians — be damned.’

Then there was this:

‘Yesterday El Fagr reported that, during their most recent phone conversation, U.S. ambassador Anne Patterson demanded that Egyptian General Sisi release all Muslim Brotherhood members currently being held for questioning: “And when Sisi rejected this order, the American ambassador began threatening him that Egypt will turn into another Syria and live through a civil war, to which Sisi responded violently: ‘Neither you nor your country can overcome Egypt and its people.’”

‘Moreover, the day before the Salafi party withdrew from negotiations with the new Egyptian government, Al Nahar reported that Patterson had “incited them [the Nour Party, the Salafi party] to tamper with the political scene and the road map and to threaten to withdraw from political participation if Dr. Muhammad Baradei becomes elected as Prime Minister…”Apparently, these are the “many forms of pressure” that Patterson earlier assured Hishan Qandil the U.S. would use to reinstate the Brotherhood.’

Things have come to such a pass that Patterson has even been called a member of a MB sleeper cell.  So what does that make Obama — whose bidding, after all, his Ambassador to Egypt is merely doing?

From top to bottom, the Obama administration’s handling of Middle East developments since the Arab Spring began has been nothing short of disastrous for the U.S. and for Israel.  From Tunisia to Libya to Egypt to Turkey to Iran to Syria, our president has played a pivotal role in helping to destabilize an already shaky political situation in the region.  Things are so bad for President Obama that even his stalwart supporters are beginning to resist their knee-jerk impulse to jump to his defense when thinking people call him an incompetent boob.  Like the Peanuts character Pigpen, President Obama is making a mess of everything that he touches.  Both here and abroad, he and his underlings are leaving indelible marks that others—hopefully capable people—will have to cope with at some point in the very near future.

As a side note, if Obama did make the deal in question, it could be the biggest blunder ever made by a U.S. president, and it may result in him becoming little more than a figurehead for the remainder of his term.  Additionally, it raises serious questions about the role that Hillary Clinton played as secretary of state in making the deal and her chances for becoming the next Democratic Party nominee for president.

If President Obama were a wise man, he would have paid heed to Sir Walter Scott’s warning: “O, what a tangled web we weave when we practice to deceive.”  If he were a student of the Bible, he would have taken Solomon’s admonition seriously: “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.” (Proverbs 10: 9)  He might also understand the meaning of Hosea 8: 7—“For they sow the wind and they reap the whirlwind.”

It is becoming increasingly obvious to almost everyone that our president isn’t a wise man, that he has no clue what the Bible says, and that our nation under his tutelage is like a punch drunk boxer who is reeling to and fro and swinging at nothing but air.

MK Ofir Akunis: Europe is wrong, again— The EU has failed to learn from past experience, which has proven that the Palestinian persistently refuse to strike peace.

MK Isaac Herzog: A de facto boycott— Israel does not have the privilege of ignoring the EU’s boycott on settlements, as its long-term ramifications for us will be irrevocable.

Dr. Haim Shine: Europe’s hypocrisy— With civil war in Syria, chaos in Egypt, and Iran determined to get nuclear weapons, Europe decides to set its sights on Jerusalem.

Bruce Bawer: The Rise of European Islamo-Fascist Police— Here’s another Arabic word that both you and I would prefer not to have to know but probably should: mutaween. It means “religious police” or “morality police.” In Saudi Arabia it’s an officially constituted entity whose officers are fully empowered to arrest and punish anyone who violates sharia law – which, of course, can mean anything from committing various sexual acts to being caught taking a sip of water during Ramadan. The Saudi morality police made international headlines in March 2002 when they physically prevented dozens of girls from escaping a burning school in Mecca because they weren’t properly covered.

Ryan Mauro: The Islamist Ties of ‘Religions for Peace USA’— Religions for Peace USA (RFPUSA), which says it is “the largest and most broadly-based representative multi-religious forum in the United States,” is holding a webinar on July 25 titled, “What You Can Learn from the Fight to End Islamophobia.” The group is yet another coalition of Islamists and their non-Muslim political allies. And, as usual, it is tarring the Islamists’ opponents as “Islamophobes.”

Yehuda Meshi Zahav: Let us learn from the past— A short look at those behind the smear campaign against haredi soldiers reveals everything. These are people who, with their bogus zealotry, seek to destroy us all from within.

Svante Cornell: Getting Erdoğan WrongIn the aftermath of Turkey’s urban uprisings, many have expressed bewilderment at Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s outlandish reaction. Whereas the Prime Minister had multiple opportunities to prevent the demonstrations from escalating, he never missed an opportunity to miss those opportunities, lashing out at foreign and domestic enemies for planning a protest movement that was so obviously spontaneous. As Erdoğan and his mouthpieces have blamed everyone from foreign media and airlines to the “interest rate lobby” and “Jewish diaspora,” Erdoğan is rapidly becoming a liability to his foreign friends. President Barack Obama is sure to regret having mentioned Erdoğan as one of the five foreign leaders with which he has the closest “friendship and bonds of trust”. Indeed, Erdoğan’s Turkey has taken on an important role in Obama’s policy toward the Middle East, and according to numerous sources, Erdoğan is among the foreign leaders Obama speaks with most frequently. But Erdoğan’s authoritarianism is not new. Anyone watching Turkey for the past several years has had plenty of opportunity to see Erdoğan’s slide. Did the White House not know or not care? And what should American policy toward Turkey be now?

Christopher Harmer: Iranian Naval and Maritime Strategy—Iran’s maritime forces, the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy (IRIN) and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Navy (IRGCN), have taken a number of distinct actions that reflect Iran’s broad, strategic ambitions. First, Iran has reprioritized some of its local maritime exercises towards solidifying or expanding territorial claims in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, and Caspian Sea. Second, IRIN has significantly increased its long-range deployments in support of strategic relationships with key partners.

Noah Beck: Apocalyptic Threats Cannot be Hoped Away: Iranian Nukes Must be Stopped— President Obama’s Middle East policy has been an ever-worsening train wreck because it lacks credibility and strategy, as Egypt, Libya, and particularly Syria, have shown. And the region is about to get much worse, unless Obama exercises resolute leadership on the most important global security issue of this generation: Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons.

Zaki Shalom: The Debate on a Military Option against Iran Revisited: When and By Whom?—From statements by senior Israeli officials on the Iranian nuclear program, some explicit and others implicit, it can be understood that if and when it becomes clear that no choice exists other than military action against Iran, Israel believes that such action would be better carried out by the US and not by Israel. This “America first” approach has a logic of its own, and undoubtedly as far as Israel is concerned has many advantages over independent Israeli action. At the same time, Israel must take into account the possible negative results of this course of action. Awareness of these potential consequences will allow it to contain the damage if and when this option is realized.

Hosea 8: 1-2

Put the trumpet to your lips! Like an eagle the enemy comes against the house of Yahweh, because they have transgressed My covenant and rebelled against My law. They cry out to Me, “My God, we of Israel know You!”

14--Blessings from Revelation

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
