President Obama’s True Leanings are Becoming Clear

“As I have said since the Egyptian Revolution, the United States supports a set of core principles, including opposition to violence, protection of universal human rights, and reform that meets the legitimate aspirations of the people. The United States does not support particular individuals or political parties, but we are committed to the democratic process and respect for the rule of law.”

Do you know who spoke those words?  It was none other than President Barack Obama, and he made those remarks in response to the Egyptian military’s ousting of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi.

The Egyptian military’s actions may have been a coup, but they were taken at the behest of the Egyptian people who were moving headlong toward open revolt and civil war—a result that would have led to bloodshed and senseless loss of life similar to the civil war in Syria.  At the same time, it would have contributed mightily to an increasingly unstable Middle East and an increasingly insecure Israel—the United States only dependable ally in the Middle East.

What do President Obama’s remarks at this juncture tell us about him and his true proclivities?    What do those remarks tell us about his ability to correctly assess the rapidly unfolding situation in the Middle East and in the rest of the world?  Even more, what do they tell us about his suitability to serve as President of the United States?

I have a strong hunch that the president’s decision to reevaluate U.S. aid to Egypt at this precise moment will lead to escalating division in the U.S. Congress and contribute greatly to his inability to govern—something that he has proven over and over again that he cannot do.  It is indeed ironic that Obama would chastise the Egyptian military for not abiding by the democratic process and the rule of law when his administration more than any other in my lifetime, including the Nixon administration, has thumbed its collective nose at those hallmarks of our government.

Obama’s IRS has morphed into a political machine the virtual purpose of which is to harass and bring into submission the president’s political opponents.  His use of executive orders to circumvent Congress and defy the will of the American people is becoming the stuff of legend.  Executive agencies of his administration have done the same thing by issuing regulations that are in direct opposition to the will of lawmakers and the American people.  I repeat: it is curiously ironic that the president would criticize anyone for not abiding by the democratic process and the rule of law because those are the very things for which his entire administration is best known.

If Obama had called for a review when it became apparent that Egypt under Morsi had become a brutal and repressive dictatorship that was led by the Muslim Brotherhood, right-minded people would have supported him, but he didn’t.  Fact is that many of those right-minded people had called for a review because they could see what was happening in Egypt.  Instead, the president waited until the bloodthirsty leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood were kicked out of government and taken to jail.  That fact is telling.  It suggests strongly that President Obama’s heart is with the Islamists of the Middle East, particularly those in Egypt, and that the people of the region are of little value to him.  In short, he thinks the same way that Islamists think.

Hopefully, the American people are waking up to that reality.  If they are, we may be heading for open revolt in the United States—rebellion against autocratic rule by an inept president and his hooligan and thug supporters in government.  You can see the divisions growing in Congress, and you can see it taking shape across the nation.  Let’s hope that Congress can do its job and that we can avoid bloodshed, but there is a lesson to be learned from what just happened in Egypt and what is taking place in Syria.  The people are willing to take only so much abuse before they take it upon themselves to rectify the situation.

4--Scripture of the Day

Hosea 5: 9-12

Ephraim will become a desolation in the day of rebuke; among the tribes of Israel I declare what is sure. The princes of Judah have become like those who move a boundary; on them I will pour out My wrath like water. Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment, because he was determined to follow man’s command. Therefore I am like a moth to Ephraim and like rottenness to the house of Judah.

  • God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ This [Yahweh] is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.” (Exodus 3: 15)
  • “Therefore behold, I am going to make them know—this time I will make them know My power and My might; and they shall know that My name is Yahweh.” (Jeremiah 16: 21)
  • “Behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land.  In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely; and this is His name by which He will be called, ‘Yahweh our righteousness.’” (Jeremiah 23: 5-6)
  • Yeshua said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.” (John 8: 58)

Ashraf Khalil: Egypt’s Military Ousts President Morsi, Angering His Islamist SupportersAfter days of mounting speculation and brinkmanship, the Egyptian army carried out its threat to end the country’s crippling ideological divide by ousting President Mohamed Morsi — just over one year after he was inaugurated as the country’s first democratically elected civilian President. Defense Minister Abdel Fatah al-Sissi announced the move shortly after 9 p.m. Cairo time, following two hours of military deployment with soldiers and armored personal carriers taking up positions around the capital.

Robert Spencer: Egypt: Now What?— Few analysts expected that the demonstrations in Egypt over the past few days would result in such a swift toppling of Mohammed Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood regime, and no one can be sure of what is going to happen next in Egypt, but there are some things we do know.

Jeff Martini: Why Egypt’s Generals Will Tread Carefully This Time—The Egyptian military is still licking its wounds from the year and a half in which the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces directed Egypt’s transition to democracy. The military leadership hasn’t forgotten that many of the same anti-Morsi demonstrators were shouting “down with military rule” during the SCAF’s stint in power.

Avi Issacharoff Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood Forced to Acknowledge the Limits of Its Power—Two and a half years after Islamist parties conquered one Arab state parliament after another, Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood is having to acknowledge the limits of power. The movement’s continued rule in Egypt now depends on the good will of the military and security establishment. Even if President Morsi doesn’t capitulate and opts to remain in office, he will be a weak president, bereft of real authorities or freedom to act, and he will eventually have to give up his seat.

Boaz Bismuth: Coup or revolution?— Now that Muslim Brotherhood man Mohammed Morsi’s short stint as Egypt’s first elected president has come to an end, we are left to wonder if what we witnessed in Egypt this week was a military coup or a full-blown revolution? The answer to that question depends, of course, on who you ask. As far as the 14 million extremely organized and determined Egyptian protesters are concerned, this week’s events were the second revolution in under three years. They credit themselves with having succeeded, in a very short time, to oust a longtime tyrant (Hosni Mubarak) and an elected president who tricked his people and took Egypt down a very undesirable path.

Nina Shea: The Shadow War Against Syria’s Christians—On June 23, Catholic Syrian priest Fr. Francois Murad was murdered in Idlib by rebel militias, the latest victim of the shadow war against Christians that is being fought by jihadists alongside the larger Syrian conflict.

Joseph Raskas: Hassan Rouhani and the Myth of ‘Moderation’— Human beings have a massive capacity to ignore bad news, as if dispensing with information that is either inconvenient or detrimental to one’s life will simply make the problem go away. Thus, the mainstream media could perhaps be forgiven for having bought into the solicitous charm offensive that is currently being conducted by Iran’s newly elected president, Hassan Rouhani, in which the radical Islamic leader has fallaciously cast himself as a “moderate,” despite the overwhelming evidence that directly undermines this assertion. However, those actively working to advance the vital national security interests of the United States and of its one true ally in the Middle East, Israel, know better than to mask, mitigate or underestimate the truly evil inclinations of the clerical Islamic regime in Tehran. We have, quite literally, seen this movie before: it is called Argo.

Boaz Bismuth: Denial is a river in Egypt— Just like Mubarak before him, as well as Libya’s Gadhafi and Tunisia’s Ben Ali, Mohammed Morsi doesn’t seem to understand the end has come.

Clifford D. May: Winged camels and peace talks— Why John Kerry won’t find it easy to get Palestinian-Israeli talks restarted.

Udi Dekel: How the United States Might Respond to the Syrian Strategic Quandary— The ongoing war in Syria has confronted the United States with a strategic quandary. While the United States and its Western allies have limited tools to influence events in Syria without military force, neither the United States nor Europe is interested in further military involvement in the region following the experiences of Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition, the international system is incapable of taking substantive decisions on Syria due to the expected Russian and Chinese veto in the UN Security Council. One military option with a likelihood of broad international and regional backing is the creation of a no-fly zone over Syria, in order both to prevent Bashar’s forces from using planes and attack helicopters against opposition forces and civilians, and to reduce their ability to disperse chemical weapons.

14--Blessings from Revelation

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
