You Had Better Know Whose Side You are On

Katie and I had a great trip to Israel, and we have plenty of pictures and stories to tell.  I’ll share them with you over the summer.

Israel will continue to be the focus of world attention because of its existence.  A large percentage of Arabs have dedicated their lives to annihilating Israel, and they have formed groups including the PLO, Hamas, and a host of others with the specific purpose of wiping Israel off the map.  Although they are not Arabs, Iran’s leaders have been so bold as to use that exact phrase.  Additionally, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is attempting to radicalize Turkey’s Muslims, and he has positioned himself to be seen as a modern-day Saladin by the Arabs in Judea and Samaria (a.k.a. the West Bank) and Gaza who have been radicalized already.

If you read SnyderTalk regularly, you know these things.  Each day, it enables you to keep up what is taking place in real time.  For example, right now these events are grabbing global attention:

  • Turkish people who don’t want to see their country become an Islamist state that is governed by Sharia law resembling the Dark Ages are resisting Erdoğan’s efforts, and many of them are being wounded and/or arrested.
  • Russia and Iran are supplying advanced weapons to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in hopes of saving his brutal dictatorship.  Assad is progressively moving toward a strategy that will unite his people, and only one thing can do that: getting them to focus on Israel instead of each other as the enemy.  It’s an old trick in the Arab world.  It’s worked before, and it will work again.
  • Anti-Semitism continues to rear its ugly head in France and Jewish people in Lyon are being victimized by radical Islamists and ordinary French citizens who either participate or do little or nothing to prevent the atrocities.
  • The U.S. is shifting its attention away from the Middle East and toward Asia at the precise moment in time when U.S. military might is needed to secure the region.  Western-friendly Arab leaders are unnerved by the move.  They should be.  Many of them are struggling to hang on to power, and the slightest withdrawal of U.S. support may lead to their demise.
  • U.S. “friend and ally” Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi may have played an operational role in the Benghazi attack.  Few Americans know this, and if it proves to be true, President Obama’s dismal foreign policy will look even worse.  As I’ve said many times before, Israel cannot rely on President Obama.  The sooner the Israeli people accept this fact the better.

These are just a few of the world events that are in today’s headlines, and no good can come from any of it.  Political leaders of the world are choosing sides right now, and the people of the world are being drawn into the battle whether they know it or not.  At the end of the day, Israel and the Jewish people will become the target, and Yahweh will reveal Himself once again as Israel’s Savior and Deliverer.  That’s exactly what He said He would do:

Yahweh, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the human spirit within a person, declares: “I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. On that day I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness,” declares Yahweh. “I will keep a watchful eye over Judah, but I will blind all the horses of the nations. Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, ‘The people of Jerusalem are strong, because Yahweh Sabaoth is their God.’” (Zechariah 12: 1-5)

It’s time for Yahweh’s people to open their eyes and see what it taking place.  At the end of the day, Yahweh’s enemies will be destroyed, so you had better know which side you are on and get in the game.

4--Scripture of the Day

Daniel 10: 18-19

Again the one who looked like a man touched me and gave me strength. “Do not be afraid, you who are highly esteemed,” he said. “Peace! Be strong now; be strong.” When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Speak, my lord, since you have given me strength.”

5--HNIY Print form

His Name is Yahweh explains why the Name of God, Yahweh, is so important.  It’s available in eBook format and in paperback.  It’s also available for free in PDF format.

  • God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ This [Yahweh] is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.” (Exodus 3: 15)
  • “Therefore behold, I am going to make them know—this time I will make them know My power and My might; and they shall know that My name is Yahweh.” (Jeremiah 16: 21)
  • “Behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land.  In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely; and this is His name by which He will be called, ‘Yahweh our righteousness.’” (Jeremiah 23: 5-6)
  • Yeshua said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.” (John 8: 58)

Jonathan Spyer: Is Assad winning in Syria?— The imminent demise of the regime of Bashar Assad has been announced on numerous occasions over the last two years of civil war in Syria. But the regime has held on. Despite some advances by rebels in the south of the country in the early months of 2013, Assad shows no signs of cracking.

Jonathan Spyer: Behind the Lines: At the edge of the abyss— Two Grad rockets were fired this week at the south Beirut suburb of Shiyah. This district borders Dahiyeh – the stronghold in the city which houses the main offices of Hezbollah. The decision to strike so close to Hezbollah’s nerve center is a dramatic escalation by the Syrian rebels of their simmering conflict with the Lebanese Shi’ite militia.

Irwin Cotler: Giving voice to Iran’s own victims— This week, parliamentarians in Canada and the United States have been focusing attention on the dangers posed by the Iranian government, sounding the alarm on massive Iranian domestic repression and the Iranian threat to international peace and security. In Ottawa, the events of Iran Accountability Week include hearings of the Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on International Human Rights, public events involving Iranian human rights experts and international experts on the Iranian threat, and a take-note Parliamentary debate.

Arnold Ahlert: Obama’s Iraq Surrender—After almost a century of existence, the borders that form the modern Mideast nation states appear to be on the verge of disintegration. Part of the driving force behind this meltdown, as observers are beginning to acknowledge, is of course the intractable sectarian war in Syria. But a far bigger part of the picture is the accelerating destabilization of Iraq. The breakdown of Iraq, with its far-reaching regional ramifications, is attributable in no small part to President Obama’s abandonment of the U.S.’s mission in the country, a betrayal committed in total defiance of the military establishment’s recommendations, which squandered the hard-won victory handed down by President Bush.

Cynthia Farahat: Benghazi Terrorists: ‘Dr. Morsi Sent Us’—The terrorist attack in Benghazi is far more disturbing than previously thought. Although it has not been reported in the U.S. media, the possibility exists that the Egyptian government may have played an operational role in the attack. YouTube videos of the terrorist strike raise a serious problem that only an Arabic speaker would detect: some of the terrorists are speaking in the Egyptian dialect of the Arabic language.

Matthew Vadum: The Tea Party v. The Obama IRS—The IRS is being sued by 25 Tea Party groups in federal court over the political witch-hunt the agency has been conducting against conservative and libertarian grassroots organizations since the start of the Obama presidency.

Charles Bybelezer: Mainstreaming Hamas—On May 16, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed to go through with a planned trip to the Hamas-ruled Gaza strip in June. Flanked by US President Barack Obama at the White House, Erdogan expressed “hope that my visit can contribute to the process [of establishing a Palestinian state].”

Mark Hendrickson: The View from Londonistan—For the second straight year I’ve had the pleasure of an extended visit with my daughter in London, and for the second year, the themes of liberty and rights–and how closely related they are to conflict and religion–have been prominent.

P. David Hornik: Showdown in Syria—A war of words and threats is shaping up over the Syrian issue. On one side stands Russia, the embattled Assad regime’s main backer along with Iran. On the other—not necessarily acting in any sort of unison—stand the United States, Europe, and Israel.

Arnold Ahlert: The ObamaCare Meltdown Begins—While Americans remain focused on the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups applying for tax exempt status, two recently filed lawsuits reveal a far deeper level of alleged corruption at the agency. On May 2, a group of small businesses challenged the IRS’s attempt to illegally implement health insurance subsidies contained in the Affordable Healthcare Act, aka ObamaCare. On May 14, it was revealed that a class action suit has been filed by a California-based HMO, accusing the IRS of stealing 60 million medical records belonging to 10 million Americans.

14--Blessings from Revelation

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
