4--Scripture of the Day

Ezekiel 40: 5-10

And behold, there was a wall on the outside of the temple all around, and in the man’s hand was a measuring rod of six cubits, each of which was a cubit and a handbreadth. So he measured the thickness of the wall, one rod; and the height, one rod. Then he went to the gate which faced east, went up its steps and measured the threshold of the gate, one rod in width; and the other threshold was one rod in width. The guardroom was one rod long and one rod wide; and there were five cubits between the guardrooms. And the threshold of the gate by the porch of the gate facing inward was one rod. Then he measured the porch of the gate facing inward, one rod. He measured the porch of the gate, eight cubits; and its side pillars, two cubits. And the porch of the gate was faced inward. The guardrooms of the gate toward the east numbered three on each side; the three of them had the same measurement. The side pillars also had the same measurement on each side.

His Name is Yahweh explains why the Name of God, Yahweh, is so important.  It’s available in eBook format and in paperback.

  • God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ This [Yahweh] is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.” (Exodus 3: 15)
  • “Therefore behold, I am going to make them know—this time I will make them know My power and My might; and they shall know that My name is Yahweh.” (Jeremiah 16: 21)
  • “Behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land.  In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely; and this is His name by which He will be called, ‘Yahweh our righteousness.’” (Jeremiah 23: 5-6)
  • Yeshua said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.” (John 8: 58)

13--Perspectives

#####

Eldad Beck: Hezbollah’s cocaine Jihad— Faced with dwindling Iranian funding, Shiite terror group partners with Mexican drug cartels; uses millions of dollars in drug money to support weapon acquisition habit.

Khaled Abu Toameh: What Do Abbas’s Latest Threats Really Mean?— Why doesn’t Abbas consider the possibility of handing the “keys” to another Palestinian? Abbas apparently believes that if he cannot lead the Palestinian Authority no one else should — that if he comes down, then the entire Palestinian Authority should also collapse. A changing of the guard is something that the US and the EU, the major funders of Abbas and his associates, could play a major role in bringing about.

Elliott Abrams: ‘Plotting to celebrate Christmas’— The religious police in Saudi Arabia do not permit such dangerous practices as a Christmas party.

Dan Margalit: The president is not impartial— In his attempt to make an objective assessment of the peace process, Peres faults the Israeli leadership but takes no issue with Abbas’ track record as a negotiator.

David M. Weinberg: The Magic Peres Pill— Takers of this drug are prone to take wild leaps of faith and to project all their good intentions onto the adversary — a malediction known as transference.

Michael Widlanski: Israel’s Forgotten Corruptions—Journalists claim they are society’s watchdogs, but in Israel they have gone to sleep, ignoring the moral and criminal corruptions of yesterday among some of the main candidates and kingmakers in this year’s elections. Israel’s press loves stories about Avigdor “Yvette” Lieberman and his alleged violations, but we do not hear much…

Jason Guberman-Pfeffer:  A Monumental Test for Egypt—The first big test of how Egypt’s precarious new government is going to deal with Jews will take place at a little-noticed event next…

David P. Goldman: Egypt “On the Verge of Bankruptcy”— “The country is on the verge of bankruptcy,” Egyptian opposition leader and Nobel Laureate Mohamed ElBaradei told the newspaper al-Arabiya Dec. 23. Unable to reduce subsidies that account for most of a budget deficit that now exceeds 14 percent of GDP, and unwilling to raises taxes, it seems most likely that the Muslim Brotherhood government of Mohamed Morsi will instead take the path of least resistance and allow a steady devaluation of the Egyptian pound. During the past two weeks, central bank intervention to support the pound’s value on the foreign exchange market has stopped and the currency has fallen sharply.

Max Boot: Maliki’s Dangerous Partisan Vendetta— Large, noisy demonstrations have flared across Anbar Province in recent days to protest what is widely perceived to be Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s witch-hunt against Iraq’s Finance Minister Rafe al-Issawi, a leading Sunni politician. Maliki’s security force raided Issawi’s compound and arrested 10 of his bodyguards–following the same M.O. that led last year to Sunni Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi being convicted of murder in absentia after his bodyguards were allegedly tortured. (Hashemi has fled to Turkey.)

Edward Paltzik: The Fallacy of Gun Control—Our dialogue concerning gun control begun by Brett Joshpe in his December 28 piece “Sensible Arms Policy” continues with this response from an fellow attorney in Joshpe’s own office.

Daniel Greenfield: America Doesn’t Have a Gun Problem, It Has a Gang Problem— The country’s real “gun culture” is controlled by the urban Democratic machine.

Tom Blumer: Gun Grabbers Gone Wild— Leftists admit the ultimate goal is confiscation.

Mark D. Tooley: Cathedral Crusade for Gun Control— The first step in the Religious Left’s agenda to dismantle the Second Amendment.

Jerrold L. Sobel: The Ten Top Anti-Semites of 2012— Every year around this time we’re inundated with stories about the top ten people or events of the previous twelve months.  Holding to this tradition, this past Thursday, the Simon Wiesenthal Center listed their top 10 anti-Semites of 2012.

Robert Oscar Lopez: Let’s Retire These Tired Straw Men in 2013—Obama’s first four years as president were particularly strong for the straw man industry. For 2013, let’s let some of these overworked and worn-down figures rest.

David Limbaugh: David Gregory’s Slobbering Obama Interview—NBC’s David Gregory interviewed President Barack Obama on “Meet the Press” Sunday, and a conversation ensued that would have been more fitting for a show called “The President Meets One of His Many Mainstream Media Enablers.”

John Browne: Now It’s Time for the Entitlement Cliff— If additional taxes are not matched by real cuts in government spending, the economically crippling tax increases will serve merely to increase the size and intrusive power of big government. In other words, the pain will yield no gain.

Doug Mainwaring: We Are All Patriot Pragmatists Now—Not by choice, but by absolute necessity.

Kavon Nikrad: Tax Increases vs. Spending Realities—As with so many other public debates, conservatives have failed to make their case in the tax vs. spend argument.

John Steele Gordon: The Times’s Idea of “Tax Reform”— The New York Times has a lead editorial today called “Why the Economy Needs Tax Reform.”  It starts off briskly enough: Over the next four years, tax reform, done right, could be a cure for much of what ails the economy. Higher taxes, raised progressively, could encourage growth by helping to pay for long-neglected public investment in education, infrastructure and basic research. More revenue would also reduce budget deficits, helping to put the nation’s finances on a stable path. Greater progressivity would reduce rising income inequality, and with it, inequality of opportunity that is both an economic and social scourge.

14--Blessings from Revelation

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
