Joe Biden, “I am the Democrat Party right now.”
Rarely does a crooked politician give us the opportunity in one short sitting to see him or her do a 180o turn. Crooked politicians call it “pivoting”. Decent people call it “lying”.
Healthcare
During last night’s debate while the candidates were discussing healthcare, President Trump said that the Democrat Party is socialist and that it’s willing to throw people who have private health insurance under the bus.
I’m paraphrasing, but that was the gist of the president’s comment.
Biden responded by saying that his healthcare plan is not socialist. The president shot back immediately, “That’s what your party is saying.”
Joe said emphatically, “I am the Democrat Party right now. The platform of the Democrat Party is, in fact, what I approved of.”
Politically, that was a dangerous thing for Joe to say. He is the Democrat nominee, because Democrat heavyweights thought they needed to step in to prevent Bernie Sanders from winning the nomination. In the process or reaching a deal to prevent open warfare in the party, Joe had to make many concessions.
Joe gave socialists and communists in the Democrat Party more influence than they have ever had before. They believe their opinions matter and that their policy positions matter. Healthcare for all including illegal aliens is one of the things they have pushed for with all their might.
Joe’s comment last night sent socialists and communists in the Democrat Party a strong message:
- What socialists and communists in the Democrat Party want matters only as long as Joe can use it to his political advantage. If Joe can’t use what they want to his political advantage, he will throw them under the bus.
- Joe alone will decide what’s right for the party. The promises he made to keep the Democrat Party together when Democrat heavyweights stole the nomination from Bernie Sanders a second time are no longer binding, because Joe senses a need to pivot.
That didn’t go over well with the socialists and communists in the Democrat Party. You can bet on that. They are talking about it right now.
Rioting in Portland, Oregon
Debate moderator Chris Wallace asked Biden a simple, direct question:
“You just said that you are the Democrat Party right now. Have you ever called the Democrat Mayor of Portland or the Democrat Governor of Oregon and said, ‘Hey, you gotta stop this. Bring in the National Guard. Do whatever it takes, but stop the days and months of violence in Portland.’”
Joe’s response to Wallace’s question was class Biden. He said, “I don’t hold public office now. I am a former vice president.”
That’s another way of saying, “I’m just a private citizen. I can’t tell them to do anything.”
Truth is, Joe didn’t try to stop the rioting in Portland, because Democrats are using it to blame the president for violence and to call him a racist. Stopping the riots in Portland would have been like taking an arrow out of the Democrat quiver.
Pivoting (Lying) in Real-Time in Front of a National Audience
When it comes to front burner issues for socialists and communists in the Democrat Party, Joe says that he is the Democrat Party. What he says goes, period.
The whole nation is appalled by what has been taking place in Portland, Oregon for more than 3 months every night. All Joe needed to do was pick up the phone and say, “Hey, stop the rioting in Portland pronto.”
Joe didn’t do that, and he explained why. In essence, he said, “I’m just a private citizen. I can’t do anything.”
Joe can’t have it both ways. Either he is the man or he isn’t. He can’t be the man when it suits him but claim not to be the man when there is a political price to pay.
