Democrats are Lining Up to Protect Joe Biden in the Senate

Rep. Adam B. Schiff, the lead House impeachment manager, said calling Hunter Biden as a witness would be an “abuse” of President Trump’s impeachment trial.

Mr. Schiff, California Democrat, said it would be “fair” for the president and his team to be able to call witnesses that can provide material information on the charges Mr. Trump is facing.

“It would not be appropriate for the president to seek to call witnesses merely to try to perpetuate [the] same smear campaign that was foiled when his plot was discovered,” Mr. Schiff said in an interview for the “CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell,” a portion of which aired Tuesday morning.

“Hunter Biden, for example, can’t tell us anything about whether the president withheld military aid, whether he withheld that aid to coerce Ukraine to conduct political investigations, or why he wouldn’t meet with the President of Ukraine,” Mr. Schiff said.

Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., one of the House impeachment managers, dismissed on Sunday any notion that Democrats would be willing to negotiate on witnesses called during the Senate trial – adding that Republicans who want to block or negotiate what witnesses testify are “part of the cover-up.”

Nadler, who as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee led the writing of the articles of impeachment brought against President Trump, said that all “relevant witnesses must be heard” and balked at the idea of Democrats agreeing to having former  Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter testify in exchange for the witnesses Democrats want to hear from.

“This whole controversy about whether there should be witnesses is really a question about does the Senate want to have a fair trial or are they part of the cover-up of the president,” Nadler said during an interview on CBS’ “Face The Nation.”

Nadler added that “Hunter Biden has no knowledge of the accusations against the president.”

Joe and Hunter Biden were Involved in Corruption in Ukraine and China

Joe and Hunter Biden were involved in corrupt activities in Ukraine and China.  That’s not a partisan political statement.  It’s a statement of fact.  See “Biden Won’t Testify if Subpoenaed”:

Of course, Joe Biden will refuse to testify in a Senate impeachment trial.  He’s as guilty as hell.

To refresh your memory:

1. Joe took his son, Hunter, with him to Ukraine on an official visit by his father who was vice president at the time. It was a shakedown of the Ukrainian government to the tune of several million dollars.
2. Joe demanded that the Ukrainian government fire the prosecutor who was investigating Burisma Holdings and Hunter Biden.
3. Joe threatened to withhold U.S. aid to Ukraine if the Ukrainian government didn’t comply with his demands.
4. Joe did the same sort of thing in China, and Hunter walked away from that “deal” as an even richer man.
5. Joe Biden is guilty of doing what Democrats are accusing President Trump of doing.

I’ve written a lot more on this subject, but that editorial should suffice.

This is the bottom line:

Joe Biden used his high office, Vice President of the United States, to enrich himself and his son, Hunter Biden.  That’s at the heart of the impeachment matter.

Adam Schiff said that calling the Biden’s to testify would be “an abuse of the impeachment trial”.  He even said that neither Joe nor Hunter Biden has anything to contribute.

That’s an interesting statement coming from Schiff who is a former prosecutor, because there has been no investigation of the Bidens’ activities in Ukraine or China.

Democrats have steadfastly refused to pursue that line of inquiry even though everything the Bidens did in Ukraine and China reeks of corruption.  It’s interesting that everybody sees it except Democrats and the establishment media.  They have simply declared that the Bidens are innocent and that anyone who says otherwise is deluded.

That’s not justice or the pursuit of justice.  That’s a dictatorial decree.  It’s called kangaroo justice.

Jerry Nadler said that he’s not willing to call the Bidens to testify even if the Senate allows both sides to pick the same number of witnesses to testify.

In other words, Nadler is committed to preventing the Bidens from testifying no matter what.  He wants to call witnesses like John Bolton whose testimony is protected by executive privilege, but he doesn’t want to exchange testimony from the Bidens to gain access to Bolton’s testimony.

What are Democrats Trying to Hide?

Why are Democrats circling their wagons around the Bidens?  Truth is they know that the Bidens were engaged in corrupt activities in Ukraine and China, and they don’t want the facts exposed before the American people.

Thankfully, most senators aren’t fools.  They know what Schiff and Nadler are trying to do.

The Bidens Should Testify

If there is any testimony in the Senate, both Bidens should testify.  The reason is simple: President Trump was pursuing corruption in Ukraine.  That’s his job.

The fact that Joe Biden is running for president is beside the point.  As Democrats keep saying, “No one is above the law.”

Joe Biden’s guilt is becoming increasingly apparent.  The fact that leading Democrats are lining up to protect Joe Biden despite mountains of concrete evidence pointing to wrongdoing on his part is telling.

Joe Biden said, “Not a single person, not one, has said that I did anything other than my job.”

Truth is millions of people have said that Joe Biden was engaged in corrupt activities in Ukraine.  I’m one of them.

We have also said that President Trump was simply doing his job.

Biden’s comment reminds me of Adam Schiff’s comment about his “investigation” in the House Intelligence Committee.  He said, “The facts are uncontested.”

Truth is the facts were vigorously contested in the House Intelligence Committee, and Schiff did everything he could do as committee chair to sabotage anyone who threatened to expose the narrative that he wanted the American people to hear.

Schiff and Nadler are doing the same thing in the Senate right now.

The impeachment of President Trump is a partisan political ploy by Democrats to remove him from office and to prevent him from running for re-election, because they know they can’t beat President Trump in a general election.
